I have never seen a hand towel not folded in three with the embroidery in the middle, it that something not done in your area? It would be easier for alignment this way. Your video is helpful. Thank you for the download.
Romero, I commend you on your excellence. I'm new with embroidery and recently purchase the MT 1501 Ricoma and the 5x5 mighty hoop station. You are a perfect teacher and you explain your work so well. I pray and strive to get even close to your style of work and I thank the Lord for leading me to your channel. May Jesus Bless you as you continue in your success and continue to Bless others.
Thank you for sharing. I used a different way to position the decide -- I really like how you did yours and will incorporate that technique when I do towels. I also appreciate the different tips you provided on finding the center of the towel for those that may not have all the tools that you do. As always, great job!
I have an order for beanies that I will use the knockdown stitch for the first time. Just waiting for the product to arrive. I’m excited! I like this method much better than using Solvy. Thanks so much for your guidance, and especially for the free design. Barbara in Colorado
Im watching this AS i'm embroidering a few towels for a customer XD So I use water solvable front backing, and I dont use the tearaway, because that ussually makes a very ugly impression. Maybe i'm using the wrong kind. Not gonna lie, the knock down stitch makes this look Waaaaaaaay more professional! Thank you for this!
keep using your solvy, its the proper way, not knock down underlay, thats wrong. You can use tearaway on the reverse of you like, we use solvy both sides.
I am a novice. I managed to create many lovely Christmas gifts. Now, my bobbin thread is showing on top. To top it off, my thread wrapped the bobbin case while sewing on fleece; I had to cut it free. There are sooo many variables that I’m not sure how to fix these issues. Is it the stabilizer, thinness of the fabric, needing more thread on the bobbin, bobbin tension, top tension? Gosh. I’m stumped!
Thank you for your videos. I'm new to the MT-1501 and you are so generous to share your knowledge. Question: is there a way to flip the design on the machine by 180 degrees? I haven't found any explanation for that. Thanks, Michele
I just came across your video, already subscribed. You mentioned a class every Saturday, do you still have that class? Where can I get the info? On the towels, I noticed you did not use the soluble plastic that people issuance placed on top of the embroidery for towels, can you tell me why?
Hello Romero I am new on your chat and I love how you teach and I am wondering if you can make a video how to create like a name with the font from the Ricoma machine beacuse I have the machine and I dont know how to used and I bean trying to get help and I dont get any help. Thank you and advance
Hi! I was a little confused about how to remove the tear away backing - I saw you removed most of it and I think you started to mention that washing it over time will help remove the rest? I am new to embroidery and trying to figure out which backing stabilizer to use for terry towels and/or flat kitchen towels. Thank you so much for the video!
I would charge base off time. If its something thats under 1,000 stitches it’s not a big deal. I usually have set prices for beanies and towels which already has the knockdown stitch factored in.
Just watched this earlier today. Excellent! I cannot find a link to the long ruler (clear plastic) you used to find the center. Would you direct me to a place where I can purchase that ruler, please?
Why do you prefer knockdown stitch to water-soluble topping? Isn't it more time-consuming than just placing a topping? Are there big differences between the 2 methods in terms of the final result?
Its a tatami stitch with settings: spacing 6mm and length: 4mm. there are 2, 1 running horizontal and 1 running vertical. You can download the file to check out the details. Thanks.
@@RomeroThreads thank you. Also I am a beginner in embroidery and I have only the built in designs that came with the machine. Your free downloadable design i just have to dowload into my laptop (don't have embroidery software) and send it to usb than to the machine?
Since your into details, instead of wasting underlay stitches you should have used a water soluble top layer, we use solvy. You will get a better satin top layer also without all that bulk under it and underlay never knocks down the pile enough. Your reverse side will look way way better also, as currently the reverse side looks unsightly. Hope that helps.
Yes, water soluble topping is an option, its very convenient and easy to use. I do not like to use the topping. I don't like the clean up, and the overall quality and durability of a knockdown stitch outweighs other options (my opinion of course). It all depends on your preference, if a water soluble works for you, then stick to whatever works for you.
I don’t like using a topper. Water soluble topping is useful if you are not using a knockdown stitch. I prefer using a knockdown stitch, I feel it holds down the stitches longer after multiple washes. Some people use both methods, its all preference.
Knock down stitch - WOW! I'm a fan!

Yes, so many different ways to complete projects, sometimes I change it up depending what Im working on.
Thank you Romero for this useful tutorial and also the free embroidery files. I really appreciate it.

Yes, there’s a function that shows an “F”. You should be able to turn it to different angles.
Very informative for a newbie...
Very good tutorial. Thanks
Ty. This was soo sweet of you!
Great videos, keep up the good work ❤

Great video. Do u mind sharing size of font?
What machine are you using ?
Great video thanks for sharing, you didn’t use water soluble topping.
No I stopped using wss a while back. I prefer the knockdown stitch along with an outer and double zig zag underlay.

Please what's the black object called.
Will this work with a single needle brother machine?
Good information. Do you have other free lessons? Also can the mighty hoop work with my brother 10-needle entrepreneur ProX.
You can view my live videos, the replays are saved under my live folder. Any questions let me know.
what font is this?
What kind machine do you have it? I really enjoy the video!
Thanks, This was done on the Ricoma MT1501.
Thanks for the video. How long does this take and how much would you charge for this? I'm waiting for my Ricoma machine now. Thanks for any help.
is the knockdown stitch the same color as fabric or?
Yes.
@@RomeroThreads thanks alot Romero
Hi Romero, may I ask what font of the text do you use? Thank you
Great video - thank you!
For pricing, do you charge for the knock down stitches count in addition to the font stitch count? (Is you charge by the stitch)
I would charge base off time. If its something thats under 1,000 stitches it’s not a big deal. I usually have set prices for beanies and towels which already has the knockdown stitch factored in.

So no water soluble, because of the knock down stitch, right?
Yes, I don't like the clean up with the water soluble. I add a knockdown stitch plus an edge underlay and double zig zag underlay, more than enough.
Will these hoops work for a brother pe550d machine?
How much is the machine
Why do you prefer knockdown stitch to water-soluble topping? Isn't it more time-consuming than just placing a topping? Are there big differences between the 2 methods in terms of the final result?
I think it looks cleaner and the stitches remain nice and tight. I don't like the clean up afterwards w/ wss. Its all preference.
Very interesting.
May I know what spacing did you use for the knockdown stitches? Thank you
Its a tatami stitch with settings: spacing 6mm and length: 4mm. there are 2, 1 running horizontal and 1 running vertical. You can download the file to check out the details. Thanks.
Very helpful
Thank you
What font is used in this video… super helpful video and thanks for sharing!
Its called MAGNOLIA SCRIPT.
Also called Jackson Script.
I have a Brother embroidery machine - not sure how to do a knock down.
The knockdown stitch is done in the embroidery software. The machine just stitches out what’s on the file.
Awesome video ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you!
can u please tell what needle size and thread type n weight u used?
75/11 ball point needle FFG. 40 weight thread.
@@RomeroThreads thank u so v much...

Hello, thank you on this tutorial it was helpful. Does the free downloadable file works on JEF file format?

I added the JEF file. And yes, you would save it on a USB thumb-drive and load it to the machine.

I see you don't need a topping when doing the knock down stitch.
Yes, I don't like using topping, the knockdown stitch holds the nap longer and more secure. I really dislike the cleaning portion of the topping.
Can you please tell me what font you used.
Its called MAGNOLIA SCRIPT. I got it from Canva.
do i need to pre-wash towels?
No you don’t.
@@RomeroThreads Thanks!
What is the size of the front?
Daddy is 5.5"x2.1" and Mommy is 5.6"x1.7"
So I'm new to embroidery and watching this video just confused me, so you don't need any top wash-a-way
