clearly the crossfit guy was the winner.. reps were clean and on target..and still being humbled and cool kudos to cross fit, u were definitely the winner
I don't think the BB hit parallel 1 time. In addition his last 8 pull ups, his head was below the bar. I think overall the CF competitor performed better both physically and he was less winded. CF is better suited for anyone looking for performance, where as BB is for esthetics. Which would you rather have, the ability to perform well in any circumstance or look look swollen. Also the CF guy looks great esthetically too!
+Secundus steroids dont cause that or else all the golden era bodybuilders like arnold or lou or franco would have them its called hgh and it grows they're organs pushing them up against the stomach cavity wall appearing like they have a gut. hence the saying "roid gut" but its hgh gut lol i used to think roids did that too lol
+Secundus its a growth hormone ? you can go under the radar taking that. ive seen it. its not a steroid what steroid would grow your internal organs and your bones? none. but any way the "bodybuilder" did have a gut and im not disagreeing with you
In addition to all of the other critiques, you have to land a broad jump for it to count. The bodybuilder fell backwards to get that far and the crossfit guy landed all of his jumps.
Forget about form or proper reps on this challenge. Examine their goals and what they achieved here. Bodybuilder has bigger muscles, but both are lean and look great. Crossfitter barely broke a sweat. If bodybuilder had a job to do, he'd be done. Crossfitter is ready to take on more work. I used to bodybuild. And I think I was fine. But, as a firefighter, good looking muscles don't really matter under all my gear in a fire. Ability to do work is paramount. That is my goal, so that's why I prefer crossfit. Trying not to sound like I'm bashing bodybuilder, cause he still kicked ass, too.
I can't believe I am wasting my time, but I can't help it. Movement standards were not enforced for the body builder for both the pull-ups and back squats.
don't make a video like this ever again. this is truly embarassing. you criticize the crossfitter for doing better, more efficient reps. this is why their is division. of you want to do pull ups where chin isnt above bar (the universal standard for good rep) or squats that aren't parallel (another basic standard) then do it. don't call out the athlete who is doing that
I know right, they were basically saying that the half squats and almost pullups from the bodybuilder were equivalent or somehow better haha. It was so stupid.
I'd be embarrassed to put up a video like this. Crossfitter had 1 more box jump (they said they tied), body builder had many reps that his chin wasnt over bar and just as many squat reps that weren't parallel( Johnny or whatever his name is decided to give the excuse of lack of mobility thus making them good reps) it blows my mind that we still have this level of intelligence in fitness community. I hear 6 packs are easier to obtain when you do required amount of work...not take shortcuts, but what do I know, I squat below parallel and get my chin over the bar.
+Tinokins I honestly have no idea what you're talking about. that in no way makes squatting easier. I would say it makes it harder seeing as it had form. that being said his knees were not that far over his toes. also, when you compare it to the squats that are not going parallel(a basic principle of squatting) your argument is irrelevant.
Um I don't know why any crossfitters are bitching about pull up form. Alot of you guys like to do your kipping pull ups and then brag to non crossfitters how many "pull ups" you can do...
Well the problem comes out when a crossfiter does better strict pull ups than the bodybuilder meaning crossfiters can do strict pull ups aswell and kick bodybuilder ass, and don't even get me started on the squats
+Cameron Nott Yea, funny thought now that these 2 guys went head to head in "strict" pulls up and Johnny lost. He didn't get his chin over the bar most of the time, and didn't lock his elbows when going down to full extension. He also didn't squat to pre-agreed standards (not deep enough, and not extending his hips at the top) and he didn't lock his elbows again when bench pressing. Ricky bounced off the chest though, so that's where he went wrong. And since when you count Johnnys best jump to be a successful attempt? Pretty sure world long jump record would be 50cm further than it is now. If we excluded all the no-reps, there would be a very clear winner. The commentator really struggled though to come up with all the excuses, funny that. ROM etc...
Kirret Kanna true, the guy's squats were terrible and the long jump thing was dumb because they counted when he fell back. BUT, this is not a one rep powerlifting contest. You don't need to lock out when repping out on bench. He extended to just - before lockout. You also don't need to put your chin over the bar to do a pull up. I've done pull up contests before. That's why it's called a "pull up" and the other version is called a "chin up." Two totally different exercises.
Mario Andres Ballesteros again, totally agree on the squats. But the crossfitter was trying to do chin ups during a pull up contest. Those are two different exercises.
+Cameron Nott Hmm, for some reason I can't see you comment I received on my email. You mentioned that they didn't need to put their chins over the bar to do a pull up. And that pull-ups and chin-ups are 2 different things. Could you tell me how high do you have to get your chin then when doing pull-ups? 2 inches, 5 inches below the bar? Doesn't quite make sense I have to say. Also, the commentator found it necessary to explain why Johnny couldn't get his chin over the bar (muscles too big), meaning that it was actually meant as "chin-ups" as you call them, or strict pull-ups as I'd like to call them. Also, with not locking out your elbows/hips etc during a movement, you can do more reps in the same time. It's easier not to lock out and go "bang-bang-bang", than "move-lock-move-lock". What do you think by how much the crossfitter would have beat Johnny in 400m run? Or a 100m swim? ;)
Hi, I'm a Crossfitter and a must say that if this competition would have been done On a crossfit way, the bodybuilder would not Last not even 5 minutes... Wonder why??? 'Coz remember that Crossfitter goes from one exercize to the other with a minimum rest... Complete fitness condition it' s shown when you are capable of keeping your endurance, high performance under presure, aerobic and anaerobic condition, Strength, tecnic and above all "will" .... Not everybody can keep good form and Strength under time cap of 10 minutes ( this is Just an example) to be fair it has to be a competition under the crossfit methodology, if you know I mean.... Here's a WOD : 20 bench press, 5 long jump, 15 box jump, 20 pull ups, 15 back squat " 3 rounds" time cap : 30 minutes... This is basically based On the competition, but in a crossfit way... I bet the body builder can Just do the first round, maybe can do the 3 rounds in an hour... I'm a Crossfitter and a bodybuilder... I Just wanted to clarify the way the competition was done was not done properly (personal opinion) english is not my first language , I hope I made myself understood... Congratulations to both athelete They are in very good shape!!!
Both guys are tremendously fit, but the Crossfit guy actually brought his chin over the bar during the pull-ups, and went 90 degrees in the squat. He soundly beat the bodybuilder and they both know it.
johnny's advantage was more than 2 points because the crossfit guy started bouncing the barbell on his chest, that makes it a lot easier, the bodybuilder instead kept a constant contraction on the muscle and didn't touch his chest, that's a huge difference. But the crossfit guy definitely has more resistance, the bodybuilder was sweating a lot more. Anyway, great athletes :D
+Preston Emmons Depends on how badly you do it. Any weight training can be terrible for you, if you do it wrong. Comes down to gear too. Good shoes to absorb impact on certain exercises, good belts, or, suits etc. A lot of people only get hurt or injured in crossfit if they don't do movements correctly and don't spend proper time stretching/warming up. But that can be applied to Powerlifting/Strongman/Body Building/Olympic Weight Lifting and Crossift.
I'm not a fitness guru by any stretch, but arguing that the bodybuilder won is obviously incorrect to anyone with eyes. The bodybuilder's longest jump saw him fall over (but it counted for some reason), and I counted him doing one less box jump and less squats while also changing the technique. Good to watch, and I enjoyed the camaraderie between the two, but the bodybuilder clearly lost. Arguing otherwise makes the video very difficult to take seriously.
The body builders squats sucked compared to the cross fitters. Also his pull-ups didn't go above the bar in the end. That was so rigged. But I appreciate both the bodies and physique. They both did great!
The trick bodybuilders do it's to have less range of motion on the bench. higher chest less motion, but as long as there's no butt lifting off the bench it's legal.
*** COPIED AND PASTED BECAUSE I AGREE 100% *** "The crossfit guy bounced in the bench-press, and was doing a large range of motion. In the pull-ups the bodybuilder didn't brAke the parallel, even in the back squat he didn't break the parallel, and you set a jump right at johnny even if he fell down? COME ON! Johnny definitively lose....."
crossfitter did a few bounces on the bench but all the form of the crossfitter was superior. Body-building did not get chin above bar on many reps and definitely didn't get below parallel on the squats.
would love to see a rematch in a circuit kinda workout. Put some bodybuilding workout in the circuit though, maybe like lats pull down for barbell rows, bench presses. For the crossfit movement maybe like double under or overhead squat. This time please make the judging more fair. This video I think the crossfitter won
pull ups - BB did 14 good reps then dropped lower and lower as he fatigued doing a further 16 "no" reps. he should have rested more to make them good reps. The CF had the camera off him a lot so you couldn't see them all but definitely did 17 good reps and possibly more when the camera was off him and arguably just missed the last one. all the workouts were very short sprints, none of them CF work outs. i think if they did some 5, 10, 15 min CF WoDs the CFer would have wiped the floor with the BBer. But if there were to "pose" for muscle size the BBer would wipe the floor with the crossfitter. totally different goals. do you want to "look big" or have a wide range of fitness? be interested to see the BBer do thrusters, clean&Jerks, snatches and see if he had the mobility to actually do them.
I think a recount is needed the crossfire guy does more reps on everything. Far fitter and clearly beats the body builder on every test. what were you guys watching?
Okay I know there's probably a million people commenting this but Ricky's squats were so much better and deeper and johnnys were ass he didn't even break 90 half the time so by default I think Ricky won out that category...
It was very fun and interesting to watch these two compete but in reality there really is no actual competition between a bodybuilder and a crossfitter as they specialize in completely different areas, the bodybuilder building muscle and definition and the cross fitter improving muscle endurance and they also have from what I believe different training and food consumption
5:52 what the hell, when you fall in a long jump, you measure the farthest back your body went (his head or fingers), there is so much wrong in this video
You don't go with just 225 pounds and do til failure for the match up between bodybuilder and crossfit. That's endurance training and bodybuilders often go for strength and heavier pumps at low reps though not to the extend of powerlifter but still, single set til failure isn't exactly a niche for bodybuilder. Endurance training is more of a crossfit thing and in this contest it kind of shows.
this is stupid , but nice copy idea of BODYBUILDING REV , bouncing and u that call squat really ? ofc famous fitness chanel long what u can else expect live eu with germany and bb rev :)
I think the Crossfit guy looks to be in better condition. In a boxing or Wrestling match I would bet on the Crossfit guy. There needed to be some Olympic lifts.
These are all crossfit style tests... High volume cardio style timed sets... See how heavy the crossfitter can lift and I bet there is no comparison, what Im saying is, you've taken the bodybuilder way out of his comfort zone and put him up against someone who trains this way all the time..... also, didn't we say no bouncing in the bench?
It should have been a tie or the CrossFit person should have won. Box Jump and Pull Ups should have gone towards the crossfit, the bodybuilder did too many partial reps.
Hahaha the bodybuilder lost every event except the bench but still won lol pretty sad! How do you tie in a broad jump if you fall down...if the crossfitter went to the point of falling he would have jumped a foot farther. The bodybuilder then falls off the box and and gets rewarded for that, then he fails to get his chin above the bar for the chin ups and ends up doing half to quarter squats...pretty sad for posting this lol
big respect to crossfit guy
+street beat to be honest, he is actually the winner .. did you see how the bodybuilder squad !!
yeah the fact he isn't put of breath at all is amazing to me.
+khalid sab Yeah, but the rules were to go parallel (with the floor) which he did.
+khalid sab Saw how the crossfit guy benched?
crossfit didnt push himself.
believe me if he actually wanted to win he would have destroyed the bodybuilder
clearly the crossfit guy was the winner..
reps were clean and on target..and still being humbled and cool
kudos to cross fit, u were definitely the winner
Look at bodybuilders pull ups.. Chin doesent go even near the bar...
+aGuUU27 And his squats dont go below parallel....

too!
+Cole Sharp Chgeck out bodybuildingrev for REAL strength wars.
+Cole Sharp I thought the crossfit guy looked better, the bodybuilder had a steroid gut.
Danny Rials Last time I checked HGH was a steroid. Just because it occurs naturally doesn't mean it's not a steroid.
+Secundus its a growth hormone ? you can go under the radar taking that. ive seen it. its not a steroid what steroid would grow your internal organs and your bones? none. but any way the "bodybuilder" did have a gut and im not disagreeing with you
crossfit dude killed it!
body building guy didn't have the technique or endurance of the crossfit dude.
the body builder weighs a lot more
+adit negi Wouldnt use that as a disadvantage..
+ryan bonner the body builder won haha
Harry Kreuzer how?
He was barely keeping up with crossfit dude... Lolololol
ryan bonner He obviously wasnt watching the video..
funny how body builder cheated on range of motion for pullups chin didnt reach bar for a lot of em
In addition to all of the other critiques, you have to land a broad jump for it to count. The bodybuilder fell backwards to get that far and the crossfit guy landed all of his jumps.
Johnny's pullups weren't valid, his chin didn't even get close to the bar.
I thought they clearly said parallel squats? That body builder completed no reps of that range.

The crossfit guy bounced every rep on the bench press.
+Tom Olofsson ...and the body builder did not do full pull ups. Both are in better shape than me.
+Tom Olofsson and the bodybuilder didn't do the squats correctly not even paralell
+Teo Kachakov Yeah, the moderator did not enforce the rules.
+Teo Kachakov Ya, both his squats and pull ups were a complete joke. Kind of made the whole "competition" seem silly.
+Tom Olofsson *touch and go ;)
don't make a video like this ever again. this is truly embarassing. you criticize the crossfitter for doing better, more efficient reps. this is why their is division. of you want to do pull ups where chin isnt above bar (the universal standard for good rep) or squats that aren't parallel (another basic standard) then do it. don't call out the athlete who is doing that

+forrest long that crossfit guy had his knees way past over toes during his squats... makes them so much easier to do.

COPY/PASTED FROM BodybuildingRev!!!!!!!
Way to steal from bodybuildingrev. Doesn't it bother you guys that in youtube fitness you have no respect from the other channels?
Hell, guys. BodybuildingRev does it way much better. Bad copy, guys.
Bodybuilder gotta get his chin up the bar. Squats were ass too.
I like it how the crossfitter is not even sweating half way through.
Also the body builder's form on those squats was terrible!
Hi, I'm a Crossfitter and a must say that if this competition would have been done On a crossfit way, the bodybuilder would not Last not even 5 minutes... Wonder why??? Ricky was in far better shape tho. You could definitely tell
Both guys are tremendously fit, but the Crossfit guy actually brought his chin over the bar during the pull-ups, and went 90 degrees in the squat. He soundly beat the bodybuilder and they both know it.
A lot of people don't even workout here and comments. squat to parallel is universal standard even in powerlifting competitions.
Wow finally for once a comment section where people come up with their own opinion instead of just being a sheep and hating on CrossFit
BB Guy bad pull ups and squats vs. CF Guy naughty BP bounce.. Fun work out guys!!
if you wanna see originial (and in my opionion the better) version of this: just look for "strength wars" :) there are some very epic competitions!
some body builder benches weren't fully extended, did they count? but awesome job guys extremely impressive
johnny's advantage was more than 2 points because the crossfit guy started bouncing the barbell on his chest, that makes it a lot easier, the bodybuilder instead kept a constant contraction on the muscle and didn't touch his chest, that's a huge difference. But the crossfit guy definitely has more resistance, the bodybuilder was sweating a lot more. Anyway, great athletes :D
Crossfit is actually really bad for your body
care to explain??
+Preston Emmons How?
Crossfit is better for u than bodybuilding
+Preston Emmons How?
+Preston Emmons Depends on how badly you do it. Any weight training can be terrible for you, if you do it wrong. Comes down to gear too. It's obvious they organised the events to advantage the bodybuilders. The Crossfitter is clearly in better overall shape. The breathing says it all.
This isn't cross fit vs. bodybuilding, this is Reebok vs. Nike.
Anybody notice that it added up to 119-116 instead
I do bodybuilding and have for many years even I admit the cross fit guy won by a mile
I'm not a mathematician by any stretch of the imagination but Jonny has a total of 119 points, giving him a 3 point lead.
I'm not a fitness guru by any stretch, but arguing that the bodybuilder won is obviously incorrect to anyone with eyes. The bodybuilder's longest jump saw him fall over (but it counted for some reason), and I counted him doing one less box jump and less squats while also changing the technique.

What the hell is this?? This is a complete knockoff. BodybuildingRev Strength Wars, way better than this!
enjoyed every minute of this! fair sportsmanship and absolute elite athletes....but next time get the maths right xD
The body builders squats sucked compared to the cross fitters. Also his pull-ups didn't go above the bar in the end. That was so rigged. But I appreciate both the bodies and physique. They both did great!
Stolen concept guys. Check out strength wars on BodybuildingRev. Way more beast than this anyway.
Awesome challenge. Keywords "different goals" & "do what you do to the best of you ability".
No bouncing on benchpress. crossfit guy immediately starts bouncing it off of his chest.
Lesson here is: "bodybuilders" gas out quicker. You can see that he is breathing harder, granted he has more bulk to him.
The trick bodybuilders do it's to have less range of motion on the bench. higher chest less motion, but as long as there's no butt lifting off the bench it's legal.
oh please, there is a clear winner bruh, CrossFit, love Jonny but he faild against superman.
Both did great but I would give it to Ricky for having far better depth on the squats
i had a good laugh at johnnys "pull ups", no rep was done that day
*** COPIED AND PASTED BECAUSE I AGREE 100% ***

Everyone is saying the bodybuilder didn’t do full reps in the pull ups. You guys realize it said pull ups, not chin ups. They are different things.
At least 5 of the bodybuilder's pull ups was unclean(the head was under of the line of the bar). I think crossfitter deserves the win
Ray did not even sweat but Johnny had made a full shower of sweat
Cross fitter was bouncing like crazy
+Ryan Volitis He was also pushing the bar all the way up to the full extention of his arm, while the body builder was not.
Well gosh darn Johnny I understood you have no carbs but man not a single rep was done lol
Bad copy of Bodybuildingrev
crossfitter did a few bounces on the bench but all the form of the crossfitter was superior. Body-building did not get chin above bar on many reps and definitely didn't get below parallel on the squats.

body builder is out of gas after the first event lololol
Yeah right the bodybuilder won. incomplete pull ups and half squats.
not to mention the format copied from bodybuildingrev.
Johnny failing to get chin over bar on a few of those reps, not full ROM
And the crossfit guy bounced the bar on the bench presses.
Don't copy bodybuildingRev
Now with no breaks in between!? Would be interesting.
Bad Copy of Strengthwars 2k15 by Bodybuildingrev
Johnny did not go to parallel on those squats!
stole the concept of bodybuildingrev and did exactly the same, just a hundred times worse...get your own ideas
No way, Ricky totally won. Johnny wasn't even doing his pulkups right. Dudes on steroid's while Ricky looks more natural anyways.
5:52 what the hell, when you fall in a long jump, you measure the farthest back your body went (his head or fingers), there is so much wrong in this video

2 different worlds. Do you want to look good or be really good at exercising.
copied the concept from bodybuildingrev. these 2 guys are strong, those guys are savages
this is strenghtwars in worse
this reeeeally reminds me of strength wars.... oh and btw whats happening at 2:01 isnt "no bouncing"
NO REP NO REP NO REP
YOU WINS!! LoL
I think the Crossfit guy looks to be in better condition. In a boxing or Wrestling match I would bet on the Crossfit guy. There needed to be some Olympic lifts.
I like to build myself up, but crossfit is extreme and something I always wanted to do.
Do you think it's fine to take the ideas from other channels for your videos? man... thats bad, high respect for BodybuildingRev.
Bruhhh 119 and 116. I know you guys count by 45's but cmon lol.
lol at those squats, did the bodybuilder even do a single proper rep?

See how heavy the crossfitter can lift and I bet there is no comparison, what Im saying is, you've taken the bodybuilder way out of his comfort zone and put him up against someone who trains this way all the time..... also, didn't we say no bouncing in the bench?

didnt they say no bouncing in bench press? the crossfitter bounced like crazy
this is the only Channel that Deserves trolling
I had a feeling the cross-fitter wasn't trying in the first 2 exercises. I mean he said he was just warming up
Hi guys. There is mistake in their calculation because bodybuilder got 119 not 118. If dont trust me do the calculation your self.::))
the bodybuilder did all NO REP !!!
that ridiculous !!!
He's not having any carbs though, it is gonna be extremely hard to do exercise, but he's done a great job tbh
The Squats of the bodybuilder doesn´t break the parallel
The Crossfit athlete was clearly the winner. No need to explain.
It should have been a tie or the CrossFit person should have won. Box Jump and Pull Ups should have gone towards the crossfit, the bodybuilder did too many partial reps.
stolen from strength wars
Hahaha the bodybuilder lost every event except the bench but still won lol pretty sad! How do you tie in a broad jump if you fall down...if the crossfitter went to the point of falling he would have jumped a foot farther. The bodybuilder then falls off the box and and gets rewarded for that, then he fails to get his chin above the bar for the chin ups and ends up doing half to quarter squats...pretty sad for posting this lol
Crossfit dude could probably do that workout 10 more times continuous, the body builder looks like he needs a new pair of lungs.
