Make the trip down to Lake Cumberland. We go down every few weekends during the winter and usually do very well on either big smallmouth or numbers of spots.
Scan for the balls of bait in and around the mouths of the creeks and find the bass nearby. We usually use cranks and ballhead jigs, but this year, I'm going to try to snipe some with a demiki or paddle tail.

Catching every fish in the lake can't be good for the next fisherman that can't afford it

I am not sure how to take this. I know the livescope is costly and fishing can be expensive. If you could not tell I am fishing in a 16 year old boat. I am using some reels that are 15 plus years old. One is 20 years old. You can choose where to use your money and I know some great fisherman that still catch fish in flat bottoms, boats with 50 hp motors, and no electronics at all. Just make fishing the best you can and what you want it to be 👍🏽👍🏽

IF you saw how many fish are in every lake, you'd never even have this thought. Go with a friend who has livescope and just see how many fish are in every inch of the lake. Also, I can find thousands of fish (crappie) and fish them all day and only catch 15-17. FFS doesn't make them bite.

I am sure it does add a lot of confidence knowing that the fish are there. Love to fish just don't have the means to on a lake. Used to do a lot of pond fishing when i was younger. @@davidlargen31 Keep fishing whatever waters you can. Probably 20 years ago when just fishing streams and abandoned farm ponds, I ran into a property owner. Fast forward 20 years and he is now one of my very best Friends. Oh, and he had his own pond stocked with smallmouth bass right in the middle of acres and acres of corn fields and woods. It is a magical, peaceful place I can go to any time of the year.
My point is: Just grab a rod/reel and a few baits (wacky rigs, spinner bait, 4” & 5” Senkos) and go fish.
I got on the computer and used Google Earth to see the closest water near me and started fishing farther and farther. I have a ton of waters that are productive. You will too.
One other farmer I met in my roaming used to let me fish his abandoned pond till he sold the property.
Regarding FFS: So many myths about how “it just catches fish”. Rule 1: If someone says this, know they are a liar or never used FFS and are just a puppet for someone else who never used FFS.
      Be well.

The only Folks who ask things like that have never used FFS.
Best not to be a Puppet for someone else who told you not to like FFS but to find out if FFS is for you.
But, there is a steep learning curve that starts the moment you begin to research FFS, determine what FFS unit you want, what wiring, layout, boat modifications you will need to do and then begin the install. Then you have to learn all the settings, and the most common troubleshooting problems you will encounter. Then you have to COMMIT to using it so you can “dial your mind” in understanding the technology. Then you have to learn to cast to the targets you are seeing. Forget about “catching” until you master this last step. Now you are ready to choose the technique and lure you should use your catch the fish.
Finally, you just have to learn to swing all these fish that will be jumping into your boat! Not!
It is a huge amount of work and requires a serious commitment to learning FFS. Probably $4-5,000 in expenses for the transducer, black box, graph and dedicated lithium phosphate (LiPo) battery.
For many who have FFS, I am not sure it is worth it.
      Be well.
I have fished much of my life and FFS is a Tool. Sometimes I use it, most times I do not as I fish ponds, streams, lakes, the Gulf of Mexico and the Ocean.

A little preachy today?Let me ask you a question. If you hire a kid off the street to run a bulldozer with gps and grade control and he digs a straight smooth line. And you hire an old salt who can cut grade by eye with an old dozen from the 50's who is the better operator?Fishing is supposed to be fun. Not a job unless you are a pro. Lean you waters and fish. It has served me well for 58 years.@@muskietime

@@bradwetzel3217 Just tried to Educate You.
Wanting everybody else to do something the way you do it is petty, selfish and dare I say…. well, never mind.
FYI: I have a Friend who’s 20’ish year old son jumped on a bulldozer and did an unbelievable job grading a site around a pond. The pitch was absolutely perfect!
The only other observation I will share with you is that 20 years ago, it was expected that the youth would be selfish and demanding that the World conform to their wishes. I have been saying and your words proved it that even the old Folks today are whining and demanding everything be their way! They used to mind their own business but now they cry more than the youths?
Final thought regarding your age: When you get say a decade older you will then realize your time on Earth where you can physically fish is quite limited. Don’t hate on us older guys who just want to see and learn things we never thought we would be able to see and learn.
I know I can not help you see something from a different perspective. That is the highest level of knowledge. Again, my observations of Folks learned that years ago. While I want to say it’s good you fish but I prefer to say “Get off my Lawn,”.
      Ha, ha.

There should be fisheries that allow FFS and those that don't so anglers that want to fish the traditional way can do so without having to compete with FFS anglers. Or better yet FFS anglers should just save themselves the trouble and stay home playing xbox.

Interesting comment! I like your feedback but this is nothing like X box. Today I played with my FFS at Lake Hamilton from 9:30 to 12. It got up to 95 degrees. No wind, I caught fish and had a great time. Only reason I left was to come home and do computer work. I never played X box or Playstation since I was 16. When I did, I was on the couch in the AC..... never in the heat or outside for that matter

0:50...I can't condone somebody uses their FFS with the goal of not having to look up away from the screen while casting... I use livescope, I love it, it helps me improve my skills, but man I can't get behind using it the way a lot of bass fishermen do. Which I find is a result of the tournament directors allowing it in competition. It's simply not regulated correctly.
Use it in practice all you want to improve your technique, but FFS in competition turns fishing tournaments into easter egg hunts. If you're watching FFS "while" casting, you have to come to terms with the fact that you wouldn't stand a chance in traditional tournaments. Which is where the case settles for me, as a recreational fisherman, I want to be a better fisherman, not somebody with tournament level livescope skills. If you're catching more fish without it, you're using it right, if you're simply catching more fish and never turn it off let alone "look up", you're crippling yourself as a fisherman. IMO

    • @TheFishingCoach
      @TheFishingCoach  6 місяців тому

Thanks for sharing your response Robert. Last year I captained a HS team where we got second and had Big bass... it was a personal best for the student angler. We never turned the livescope on.
FFS has changed tournament fishing for sure. I am not going to get into that. For me FFS has helped fishing be more efficient and catch more bass. I made this video to help other anglers improve their skills with FFS. Have a great day! Thanks for watching.
