personal preference. I will prefer either go for Premium, or go for Flagship. Premium is because it is under 80K, that alot of features compared to Honda City and Toyota Vios. If really want to enjoy the "Premium" car feel, might consider spend 10k more for Flagship. But 1 thing to note that, the Service centers have to catch up the skill to service / repair for "premium Car". And most importantly, its the Service Advisors /Technicians attitude.
I definitly considered buying the flagship/flagship x in 2nd hand market for a good price,wait and see the review from the owner
You will see most people buy Executive cheapest one, look at older Persona.
It's either Executive or all the way to the Flagship imo. Premium simply not worth it, still got dummy front camera (for lack thereof) and small wheels as in Executive yet paying 6k more for leather I guess lol ? ...
Sunroof is Malaysia is actually totally not a problem heat-wise and it'a a really nice feature to have. I drive a car with a panaromic sunroof with retractable shades and the car is still very cool inside even while stuck in jam during hot days. It's also a really nice feature to have during less sunny days where you can retract the shade and have a really pleasant drive with the sights shooting by the glass above. On cool days or during Genting hill climb days - it's even more wonderful to retract the sunroof completely and have fresh cool air come in from the top. I would not recommend full glass roof cars like Tesla which has no retractable shades, those seem horrible on hot days.
I agree. imagine if you are driving on the roads up to Kundasang, Sabah during the sunny day. The air becomes more lively than ever.
For people that have been using an old viva like me. Or those driving saga blm, old wira or waja. Even the lowest variant Executive, it's a HUGE jump. It will sell like hot cakes.
Sorry, saga BLM or Viva price is half price of lowest spec of S70. How is it selling like hot cake?

for flex? Flagship. For everyday use? The executive. yes, you dont get adas. But you get the airbags, plus the curtain ones, blind spot monitoring, the same engine, smaller alloys to save weight, and cooler fabric seats - you know how hot our sun can be, i dont want to leather my skin like the seat leather.
I like it but paying zero for no more loan for my current car is my best option 😂
Flagship for me! Sunroof is just there to make it more premium.

@@manabjaman6205 seems like u not own any cars with sunroof. Im agreed with u the hot weather but it not bother me anyway cos do have tinted, for watermark is very common it happens to all windows.
As an older man, too much electronics especially all the controls are unified into only 1 place, made me terrified.
I chose Premium. It has all the features needed, balanced between necessity and luxury. And the price was just right.
Dont need to add another 10k for all the unnecessary electronics, unstable software and lesser driving freedom additions...
Flagship for me. It has all the good features for a luxury car. Sunroof is just a nice to have option.
Premium is enough. But nowadays, I'm choosing to go with cars that have less electronics. Lesser things to fail, and lesser headache.
And what's the problem with manual seat adjustments? I honestly prefer that. It's quicker to adjust, and it's not like you'll be adjusting it everyday anyway.
They should have taken out 360 cam n electric seat n other non safety feature like hi Proton n make it cheaper by 5 k
If I want a sweetspot,maybe the Premium trim is a pick for me

I’m interested in Flagship variant but my friends that driving X50 and X70 facing some durability problems of parts in their vehicle as well as service centers that seem don’t really troubleshoot the problem well plus the famous long waiting list for spare parts claim… I’m hesitating 😢
Premuim is the best value for money pick in my books.
Definitely Flagship. Tinted, 360 camera, ADAS, good tyres, wireless charging and many more

I bet premium version is going to be the hot cake among all these variants due to its has balance need for most people in Malaysia
What suprises me is that exec version is still great thou, aside from halogen lamps, analog meter, and lack of infotainment, it still got the electric steering, e brake, dct gearbox with 1.5t engine.

Probably will get the flagship variant. No need spend extra cash for sunroof because I wouldn’t use it all because of hot weather in Malaysia.

exec tu dah kira ckup dah. dah ada engine 1.5t dgn dct gearbox, ada ebrake..takyah pening kepala dgn gajet2 tu. kurang electronic parts, kurang masalah.

For me, I think I will just go with flagship model because of the price is really worth for it❤❤. I think i don’t need use sunroof because will think with the sunroof leaking problem due like previously X50 having this kind of issues. This price with full ADAS, full digital meter and also the led tail light and led lamp is really cool . I totally shocked with the price that released is what I didn’t expectations 89-94k can get a full spec is a good price with it

Sunroof is good to have so can check if the Pontianak is hitching a free ride when travelling along NSH at night or when Balik Kampung.
Executive - Simple & basic but would've preferred mechanical handbrakes, mechanical ignition, no center screen, no chrome. Drop the price to Rm70k to fit the name. If the Persona costs Rm60k for the top spec, I will purposely dig out another Rm10k just for this model ( If it was Rm70k )
Premium - Actually good value for many due to inclusion of nice QOL electronics BUT leather seats are just bad for Malaysian weather. Hot la Proton, why follow European or Japan or even China where their countries are many degrees colder than us?
Flagship - Ok here comes the ADAS and much more QOL electronics, for an extra 10k from base model, it's actually good consideration if you value all those camera safety features. I've seen the test runs by a few UA-camrs, I am very impressed ( but I still don't need it la haha , I only need ABS, BA and BSM which are already present in the base model )
Flagship X - I may not speak for most, but I'm pretty sure many would want the TGDi option in the top spec. If we compare X50 lineup pricing, MPI to TGDi is around Rm10k. All Proton had to do is adjust the price of the Flagship X to Rm99,000 and put in the TGDi engine (which I'm sure they have in stock from China's leftovers), confirm sale go up for top spec. Proton will also have free marketing from various news media like PaulTan's future articles such as "Best sedan to buy in Malaysia under Rm100k" or "Most powerful sedan in sub Rm100k category". Wasted opportunity I tell you.
Bit disappointed not having CarPlay, that’s kinda a deal breaker. It’s almost 2024 & all infotainment should have it or at least Android Auto.

I hate sunroof and full digital instrument cluster. So, both Flagship variants are not for me. The Premium is a much better choice but still, there are other two things I wish could be zonked out for that variant - electronic gearlever and parking brake. Traditional gearlever and handbrake are better.
Less electronics...less headache when warranty period expires...

Still think executive which is the lowest variant is enough for average user, nothing fancy. But if you want your car looks nice, then you should go for premium.
Here’s an idea for a video - i saw a video where proton tested preve against the older persona when it first came out. Why not bring them all up side by side. Call it a proton sedan “sibling rivalry”

Proton warranty isn't the worst to own a fully-specced variant, which consists of alot of electronics. Infact, I'd go with Proton any day over any car sold by Sime Darby Motors - which lacks the after sales significantly.
The only thing is to ensure you don't miss your service and don't modify your car while under warranty, unless you're ok with forking out momey should an issue arise.
Premium ofc. The analog meter🤤. As an adult man, the ADAS is optional. But the disadvantage is the manual seat for 79k?!

This may be my age talking but I prefer standard cars with basic safety features because I’m still able to drive without the need of said advance safety systems. At least, not yet.
Plus, nowadays most carmakers would do double-toned cars. I’d prefer a body colored side mirrors, roof and spoiler and bodykits. As for the dancing LED, well if you’re buying it for that then there are aftermarket options for my wife’s Myvi and it’s costs less than the S70 if you’re looking at just that… right?

Solid car bit heavy thn city n vios 5. Handling that you can’t denied without modification, new stock vehicle with amazing driving handling

16inch wheels on the lowest model sure got wheel spin on take-off. My X50 executive with MPI engine 17 wheels got wheel spin even in 2nd/3rd gear if press hard enough. Buyers can always upgrade wheels to bigger size (not sure on warranty status).

In my book, the 90k variant is the best but in my friend’s book the lowest variant is the best one. But in the other book the new Perodua Alza top spec is the best. Now you may ask which book is the best, that’s the real question.

as much as im tempted, but i've had bad experiences with proton after sales.
I usually cruise at 140km/h on highway during long distance drive. Does any knows how a 3 cylinder engine will perform at that speed? Will the 3 cylinder engine roar too loud if driven at high speed? Appreciate your comment on this.
S70 used DCT
If it a well balanced 3 cylinder, I can assure you: nothing to worry. I was in possession of Daihatsu 600cc 3 cylinder turbo when I was younger. Countless time, the thing constantly running at 5000rpm, 140kmh, for a long time from sungai besi all the way to slim river. I even rev it past 6000rpm between every up-shifting. The 3 cylinder was very smooth and nicely counter balanced. That being said, I have no experience with Proton 3 cylinder 1.5T
Kudos to Geely/Proton yet againI! guess this model are targeted for those younger audience with a matured taste, regardless the high equipment level slapped in them, macam kereta org tua. Not sure whether its a rebadge nor a reskin either, if its the latter, then Geely designers couldve done a much better job (Shoot, Proton actually have designers..my bad 😂)..will see these flooding the streets in a few months time…Tidak ada sporty variant ke ? Body kits, 20” wheels, etc. Ala Perodua, which usually brings out 10 variants, for the low/mid/flagship, then sure got, pakcik/makcik edition, teenager edition, ah beng edition ( those freaking Gear-Up kits makes me puke )..

I would just by the cheapest model, and then add nappa leather on the seats on my own. There's no need for 360 cameras or even parking cameras. And since the audio units are still without android auto and apple carplay, it is a waste to take them flagships ..... better to spend money on higher and speakers.

For me, I love to drive seriously, Ill go Executive (cheapest) because I don't need any accessories. I just want the fastest one. Just replace wheels 18" Toyo tires with big brake kit.
