Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, gave a subtle nod to Catherine, Princess of Wales, as she attended a significant royal event. The Duchess was the second-most senior royal present at the state banquet held at Buckingham Palace on June 25 in honor of the Emperor and Empress of Japan.

I wld better place Catherine in all those aspects... Sophie has on many occassions not taken care to her appearance... with dowdier clothing style in telation to the occassion.. Her hair is often here and there as if she did it herself in a hurry out the door... Catherine has peoven.. if one has the desire.. one can be busy AND STILL look put together...
@@ida1751 i like how people forget that Catherine did actually wear see through clothing at one time and has had more than one accident with a gust of wind to show off her butt and legs. Anne is more 'regal' than Catherine. Catherine is still growing into her role, but sophies been walking royal circles longer so it shows. Sophie copped flack back in the day.
I would place her after the Princess of Wales, but both are elegant and beautiful.
Sophie is lovely, it’s sweet to see how happy she and Prince Edward are, and how content their children seem to be. She did have a misstep early on, which she did work through and has gained back trust and loyalty. I can’t agree that she’s the most elegant though, she does dress age appropriate, but could do with a little updating.
Edward took quite a while to find his sweetheart, and took a lot of ribbing, I was so pleased when he married Sophie; he’s very proud of her, and I love to see him being adored and respected by her❤

Willliam was a bit older than his brother and therefore more aware of what was going on. Diana was a good person but she had a dark side and unfortunealy for William, he was often her shoulder to cry on. Plus Diana spoiled Harry terribly, probably because he was the spare.

Do you know one thing about Princess Sophie? The late QE2 was so comforted knowing that this Duchess of Edinburgh will take very good care of young Princess Catherine. Both of these two princess are Commoners too. But they learnt the art of Royal Service through the Courteers & their husbands. They are both teachable. For this l thank God that late QE2 had enough time to gauge them & to trust the Monarchy into their husbands hands once & forall. God bless them & reward them bountifully. Octogenarian.
Sophie reminds me of Diana in the tiara. She's so lovely. It was so kind of Catherine to share it with Sophie. It could easily have been Meghan and Sophie in tiaras if Meghan had a spirit of community and loyalty, which are necessary to be part of the Royal Family. The word "family" is key here. Meghan has no conception of being part of a loving family, which certainly doomed her chances of ever fitting in. It sure is sad. Everyone would have been grateful to see both of them at this banquet in regal attire. Thank God for Sophie. She's gorgeous on her own.

The lotus tiara is part of a collection of jewels that can be dipped into by the senior royals for any engagement they attend with the permission of the monarch

Sophie is not cousin to Catherine. She is the aunt of Catherine. Sophie also knows how to conduct herself, not only through learning Royal protocol but she owned her PR company when she met and married Prince Edward. She was caught out in a controversial business scenario and gave up her company and work following that. It’s great that she has taken on a higher profile role. She was apparently very much favoured by the late QE2.

It has been said from the beginning, her technical title will be Queen Consort, but will always be referred to as Queen Camilla. Just like when Catherine becomes “Queen Consort” she will also be called Queen Catherine.
I'm sure Prince William is fine with his stepmother being addressed as Queen Camilla. He understands that the "consort" designation is commonly dropped as time goes by, much as it has been with prior consorts such as Queen Elizabeth (QEII's mum), Queen Mary, and others while married to the reigning Monarch, and will surely be the case with Queen Catherine when he becomes King in future.
Queen Consort is her RANK. Queen is the title used. Prince Philip was also ranked as a Consort, but wasn't addressed as Prince Consort Philip.
It is the British hierarchical system of the monarchy. Even the Queen Mother was a Consort, but was always addressed as Queen. Therefore, there is absolutely no reason for anyone to get in a dither over this. It is the way things are done. People simply do not understand the difference between rank and title used in this instance.
What a stupid comment. Whether one is a Queen Consort or a queen regnant she is still a queen. I bet you don't refer to every other queen in Europe as Queen Consort every time they are mentioned. You just do not like Camilla and think that always referring to her as Queen Consort somehow diminishes her. Queen Elizabeth II's mother and grandmothers were Queen Consort and we were always referred to as Queen Alexandra, Queen Mary, and Queen Elizabeth. Every current European queen is a Consort as well and ALL are always referred to as Queen. Grow up and stop making childish comments.
