Maybe modify the handle to let you have more control and have someone file down the blade to a distal taper to lighten the blade

I would say it was a joint development out of the Scythian Akenakes short sword. Both Persians & Eastern Europeans descend from these Aryan tribes. The channel Razmafzar talks more about this.

I have the Devils Edge Kindjal/Qama with a gladius type blade in Damascus! I seem to have problems slashing with any blade longer than 17.5" so your knife won't work for me, while the curved Russian Kindjal is superb. Besides the curved Kindjal I'm a stab and thrust guy with a buckler.
Why do you have an issue slashing with long blades? Are you performing draw cuts?
@@TheOfficialSaracen I stand 5'81/2" and have large chest, shoulders and arms from a long life of working out, but my bone structure is light. I don't seem to be able to slash, right to left or top to bottom as it feels as if the sword (1796 Lt Cav Sabre, Cold Steel) doesn't want to move quickly. This was so even as a young man when I could Military Press 315lbs for sets of 5. I still workout on a Bow flex and archery and still have the same problem, I'm 67 now. I wish I could overcome this with longer, heavier blades because if the SHTF my blades are my backup and require no ammunition. As is I can slash with the Windlass Qama and Kindjal, The Devils Edge Damascus Qama, Cold Steel Laredo and Natchez Bowies, Windlass Primitive Bowie and light daggers! That's the best I can explain this problem.
If you are looking for something closer to the originals peserey handicrafts makes them, the Russian rukalibr company also makes khanjali, but the shipping might be difficult.
I know Peresey, he makes excellent blades, I am already planning on purchasing a Kiliç from him

Eventually, I will make some cutting tests with this weapon, and as for the steel it is 1095 high carbon steel, it is very strong and very powerful

Question. I always thought the traditional qama looked identical to the hispanic gladius in regard to the blade (not the handle), but there's thousands of years in between the use of both swords. Any connection there? Or is there only a handful of ways one can build a pointy-stabby thing?
The Traditional Qama comes from a region of some roman influence but the reason for its particular shape and smaller size was because originally these were made out of copper and bronze which required the weapon to be short and compact in order to hold up to stress. When steel ones were created they kept the same principle but lengthened them a little.
