Excellent teaching, so glad you mentioned multiple wives. I'm sick of hearing from some people, even women, justifying multiple wives in our days...

Wow, this changes everything I've been taught about this chapter in Genesis! Each teaching bares witness with my spirit and opens my eyes to truth!!

Welcome to my world of things. For the past year, I've been blown away by a great many explanations of scripture I've been taught. Many of which didn't "tie in" together, but now there are no contradiction. Certainly, the foundations of what one is taught, subsequent lessons layer on more logically!

How is it that Jacob didn’t know who he was laying with? Just curious

Heres the real answer. Jewish brides used to traditionally wear a veil through the wedding...a sort of symbol that she is untouched by man. Laban and Leah used it to deceive Jacob into adopting their tradition of marrying off the girls in birth order. Because of that the practice of keeping the face covered was abolished. Thats why today we keep the tradition of the husband lifting the brides veil at the altar during the ceremony...so he proves he knows Who his bride is.

Weddings were not the same back then, there wasn't big showings and crowds you just kind of well sex and done for the most part. Like Clayton said probably dark and being sisters how similar no one knows.
I do get the father's words though "You think I would give off my youngest before my oldest" granted he played Jacob on this it did make sense bu should have been told at the start. But let's be honest he got both sisters and like 8 other sex partners being maids their wives kept throwing at him..

The servants had their babies on the laps of wives all through
labor ...in a chair. The servant sat on top of the wife and they shared the experience. In that way the servants proxy was represented. The wife was credited with the birth by proxy. There was no approval process since the wife gave approval for conception already. You can see this in the Turner bible movie 'Abraham' starring Richard Harris and Barbara Hershey.

He obviously doesn't understand anything about the ancient customs of the eastern people. And talks from his ignorance.
