Thanks for the video. Perfect for a quick cleanup. Our wheels are full within a few weeks because of the mud and salt, so a quick run like this is perfect. Can you do a drive wheel video ? I'd almost think you could put the axles up on stands, put the truck in gear and let it idle. Block the front wheels and leave it hooked to a trailer so it doesn't drive off if something goes wrong then stick the grinder in and give it a shine.
Thanks, that exactly what this video was for. I'll do a good one of a drive just so busy lately. I just block the steers, jack up the back rims and take the park brake off. They spin freely, you dont need it running in gear.
Not all rims have the durabrite coating. If you look at the alcoa sticker, if it has blue lettering it is raw, black lettering is the durabrite, and for people who do not know, it is a " clear coat " which they put on to maintain the shine. And thank you.
@SIX SHINEZ your not supposed to try to polish the clear coat ones right? Got a 2 month old truck and dumping a can at the landfill I got something I hope isn't some kind of acid but I can't get it of with soap and a brush and a 4400 psi washer. It's not bad just some spots but it's a front and they are brand new
dam i wish i could do that. Spend 80hrs just trucking then spend time working on it weekends then you gotta wash it. Shine job quick like that would be the cats ass
I like your technique. It there any way to polish a more intricate 20” wheel for a pickup? The spokes on my wheels are barely wide enough to get a finger in. Thank you 🙂
I'm sure the outer duals don't go quite as fast. I'd be willing to bet, that old boy works by the wheel. I hope you bank that cash son, you may need physical therapy later, after spending so much time hunched over that way! God bless you.
Outters do take a little longer, Im going to do one soon and post it.... See how fast I can go, hoping right around 5 minutes.... And a little hard work never hurt no one.
I have a hooklift dumpster business so the truck and dumpsters is what you see of my business. Mine looks nice the other guys looks like crap I get business like that all the time
and the sanding time, to use the other components, the orange and yellow, I am seeing that you are only using the flannel disc, honestly one lasts longer
Almost looks fun, like power washing a dirty driveway. Fun for the first 5 minutes that is!
Rich Simon yeah I used to do it at 50.00 a rim
That came up so much better than I weas expecting it to. Almost felt like it was polished a week b4 and this was just removing the dirt layer.
But if you look at it it's still very streaky And patchy
Top work fella.
A true professional at work
Only 17 more to go lol
jimdandy ishandy lol! Right?
U only polish the outside rims...
So technically 9 more 😏
@@sixshinez9290 the polishing pad looked purple so I'm guessing was PURPLE METAL POLISH BRAND USED?
On a standard dual axle tractor it should only be 5 more... the outside wheels are Alcoa and the inside wheels are steelies usually
Nice angle of the dangle not burning your edges💪👍
The only way to clean truck wheels brother 💪🏼
What grit of rubbing compound are using..... and thanks for the video again 👍👍👍👍👍👍
If I didn't know any better, I'd swear he's done that before.

I found this very satisfying to watch..

The worst part about buffing Aluminum is you get totally covered in garbage. I have the same Shield/respirator setup you have too. Wheel looks great !
Where can I find one of those pads the ones we use are like 5 inches
How do you do a drive wheel that quick ?
Remember kids these wheels still have the Alcoa Dura Brite coating. You have to sand them if you want a mirror finish. Great job.

Yes, there is a number of different pads you can use, there is some skinnier ones that should do the trick for you.
Where we make them at a robot does the work. You can still smell it halfway across the shop.
I'm thinking about buying alcoa rims for my ford f550. 19.5 Inch. Beautiful rims

Great job I've done this too after a while your hand goes numb handling the grinder.
If you make sure you're pad is balanced properly it is much easier on your hands

Sweet!!!! What are u using on the pad edge? Tool that is to clean the pad?
It is called a polishing rake. It cleans off aluminum and any other debris so you can have fresh polish on the wheel each time.
@@sixshinez9290 that's what I thought....back in the day I use to use a screwdriver......lol thanks for replying back so fast.

Oh sorry, that is a dealt dwp 849xp. It is NOT a grinder, it run at 600rpm to 3600rpm.
What are you using for the compound?
That is a Jackson Lea brown colored bar.
You took the nice patina off. WTF man?
All the guys I see doing this just bathe in aluminum dust, no protection, just a gray face, lol.
Nice job
What grinder is that you're using? Thanks in advance.

Let's see you do that on a rear driver
Rear drive wheel I can do in under 5 minutes for sure

What's he using for polish?
CerebralAilment jewelers rouge, different colors are different grit and the buffing wheels are also different for each grit.
Think of the rogue like sand paper, each color bar represents a different aggressiveness and will give you different "color" or shine on the aluminum.
He's using zephyrs wax blocks
White rouge which is more for finishing - if you do all the sanding and diff compounds that wheel could come out 10xs better
Oh, no 🫢
