Mike’s friend, Peter Straker would sometimes hire Taxi as his backing band and, in 1983, we opened the show for Tina Turner at the Hammersmith Odeon. Peter Straker and Freddie Mercury would come to some of our gigs. On one occasion, at the Hog’s Grunt at the “Production Village”, Cricklewood, Freddie stepped up on stage with us and sang “Jailhouse Rock”. He was awesome! Freddie was a great guy. He was very respectful and decent. I’ll always treasure that memory. The funny thing was that the venue manager deducted our gig money for playing over time! I tried to explain that it was Freddie Mercury on stage with us! The manager was having none of it! And he still docked our pay.
This is freaking fantastic!!! How awesome to be one of those peeps in that bar but how horrid for the ones that had no idea it was Freddie onstage until the next day. Can you imagine??? I am amazed this footage even exists let alone 40+ years later!
O my god this is amazing footage of Freddie and is like Goldust! How come he didn’t get mobbed? When I think I’ve seen every bit of footage/interviews etc I come across this...amazing thank you . Freddie mercury the most talented charismatic human to have ever lived 👑🎤❤️👑
imagine meeting FREDDIE MERCURY singing in your favorite pub, good luck and pleasant memories forever. that there was I wouldn't have given to be there.😱🎤👍
Fantastic, my God ..Freddie was a great genius !! Excellent man! Freddie was a huge talent, and yet he was a kind, humble, natural man ... treasure this video
This is so awesome! It's so fun to see him just letting lose in a more casual performance with everyone just chilling and dancing a pub! Wish i could have been there! 😉
Incredible to see it for the first time. Amazing performance and fantastic video quality! The only thing I could complain would be the audio quality but it's still a fabolous document, thank you!
Thanks for releasing this absolute gem, been waiting years hoping it would turn up! Now I'm excited for what might be next...full Hammersmith 1979!?!? 🤞🤞
What an awesome treat! Thank you very very much for sharing. Very cool and fascinating to see Freddie in this kind of intimate setting after Queen had already made it big. Great vocals too as always! Can't thank you enough for the share 🙏 P.S. READ THE DESCRIPTION 🚨

Forget about the 50th anniversary for the band people. They don't release the pearls, fans do.
50th anniversary is over. They didn’t do anything
It’s amazing!!! thank you!!! this video is the main event of the beginning of 2022!!!
Percebo que Freddie não estava fazendo aquilo como um show profissional, e sim como uma diversão.

Can I somehow contact you?
I intend to do a bit of work on both the footage and the audio and would like to send you the result
Nice, is this the last Jailhouse Rock performance in 1982? Or did Queen performed it as well in 1982?
