Yummiest Chocolate Cake

  • This yummy chocolate cake is by far one of the best chocolate sponge recipes I have made. It's full of chocolatey yumminess, soft, moist and I promise, so easy to make that you really can't go wrong. Try it and see! 😊
    Recipe:
    225g or 8 oz Plain flour
    350g or 12.5 oz caster sugar
    85g or 3oz cocoa powder
    2 medium eggs
    1.5 tspn baking powder
    1.5 tspn bicarb soda
    8 fl oz boiled water
    250ml or 9 fl oz milk
    125ml or 4.5 fl oz vegetable oil
    2 tspns vanilla extract
    1. Add everything except the boiled water into a mixing bowl and whisk until smooth. The mixture will start to get a little sticky.
    2. Add the boiled water. Mixture should start to turn into a batter.
    3. When mixture is nice and smooth, turn out into a 7 inch round baking tin, greased and the base lined with parchment paper.
    4. Bake at 160° for approx 25 to 30 minutes or until a cocktail stick comes out clean after inserting into the middle of the cake.
    5. When the cakes are ready, turn out and allow to cool, then decorate with any buttercream/cream filling of your choice.
