Great Video, thank you for pointing out the things I could run into, very insightful. Also so easy to understand your tutorial. I am off to install!!!!
Great video and thanks for showing how to do the hardwired connection with MC cable! My current (and eventually to be replaced) garbage disposal has this sort of connection and all the other instruction videos I've found only explain using a plug-in connection.
Nice job I just recently installed one no problem it's just gets a little confusing routing the drain out with the fittings and on in all my job looks professional and I watched you how you did it and will use it as reference God bless thank you 🙏
I recently discovered your channel and I'm already a fan. That said I do have a request for you to make a video please. Maybe you can do a video going on different tools and a General guidelines and best practices of the plumbing trade. For each example How much to tighten water pipes how much plumbers tape to apply on a fitting. How to fix or replace . What all tools should a home owner have at a minimum and what all tools do you recommend the DYI home plumber. Just things of that sort
After almost 50 years of home ownership, I finally deleted my garbage disposal. I found myself just running it just to see if it was working! I installed a double screen basket in the sink. It's not that much of an issue to empty them, or actually, just the top basket. I have yet a need to empty the bottom basket.
I would have rotated the switch horizontally so that the cable to the disposal would be routed to the left around the backside of the sink area. The disposal connection would use a 90 degree elbow connector in stead of a straight connector. This would give a direct approach to the disposal. The reason for this approach gives more room for your spouse to stock pile under the disposal, and they will do it!
Pat - question for you. Was there a reason why you hooked up the dishwasher drain to the 1 1/2" lateral dishwasher Y rather than into the disposal itself? This is my next project so I'm re-watching these videos to refresh my memory. Thanks sir!
The main reason is the previous plumber cut off the 3/4" dishwasher drain connection on the dishwasher's drain hose. Most dishwasher drain hoses have a tapered connection, which starts off 3/4" and narrows down to 1/2". Since the 3/4" was cut off I had to resort to using a 1/2" dishwasher Tee. If the 3/4" connection was still on the hose I would have connected directly to the garbage disposal. I could have replaced the dishwasher's hose with a new 3/4" one, but unfortunately didn't have one on hand. Good luck on your install! Cheers!
Why would you do that... the drained line. You should just hook it right into the Garbage disposal, and do a straight pipe and eliminate that drain pipe. Since it already has the garbage disposal there is no need to add that drain pipe adapter. I can get it if the house hold didn't have a disposal and you add one. The drain line from the dw didn't look like it was cut and will fit perfectly fine on the disposal
I like to throw the wrench away and have the satisfaction that someone will be cursing and swearing sometime in the future. Enjoy the simple pleasures is my motto.
Badgers are garbage!!! The inside is carbon steel and rots in 10 years and besides that they do a very poor job of chewing or macerating the food. InSinkErator makes some great units, but this is definitely not one of them... Stick with the Evolution Series and you will be much happier and having fewer issues with clogged drain lines... Also, what Licensed Electrician or Plumber in their right mind would put the switch under the cabinet where it is difficult to reach and could pose an electrical shock hazard. Why would you not use the InSinkErator Air Switch right beside the faucet. It essential blends in with the countertop...
Did you even watch the video? If you did, you would clearly hear him say the homeowner did not want their countertop drilled for the air switch install, and that he disagreed with it - but they pay the bills and what he did is not illegal. He clearly said he would install the air switch, but it's not his house and not his countertop to make that decision.
@@bullmoosepiper7732 Then I apologize for missing that fact. I would have shown the homeowners example of the finest homes with air switches... Sometimes you have to try and direct individuals to the right decision. . If the switch is inconvenient they will seldom, if ever use the disposer... Also with that switch I pray that there is a GFCI in the circuit pior to the switch....

Best part is when you check for grade 👌

im a little scared of the wiring bit but good tutorial. I wish my existing one just came with a plug, i would have changed it years ago....
Thank you
Can you let me know what’s the best way to remove the wiring from the OLD garborator and setting it up in the new one. Thanks
Thank you show video bro
Great videos keep them up!The videos they have helped me alot as a plumbing apprentice!Any way I can reach out to you ?.
You are master
how do you deal with the dishwasher and its pluming and electrical system?
Location of that switch though would drive your client nuts. Recommend installing airswitch.
Great video as always.
Why you guys use alot of abs in Canada?
ABS can withstand freezing temperatures in cold climate regions better than PVC.

😀
Didn’t want to use a fitting trap adapter or a trap adapter 90 to save some space off the discharge? 😉
Who has their GD switch down there in the cabinet?

You shouldn't install rocker switches for garbage disposals. Rocker switches are only rated at 15 amps. Garbage disposals pull 20 amps.
That's weird, two seconds and a quick search, found a 20A switch for $3.44 with free shipping.
Dishwasher drain line should have been installed into the garbage disposal (i.e. garbarator...ha, ha!) NOT back into the drain line as shown.
Can I have your contacts sir
this video is incorrect. Not how to plumb in a GD.
