- When you’re at the top of your game, Hollywood must be an amazing place to be. But not so much when you’d fallen from A-list to D-list. Some of the biggest actors’ careers have taken a nosedive. And these actors can’t get cast anymore. Some unemployable actors sabotaged their own professional lives through bad decisions with the roles they took on. Then there are those actors who can’t get a good role because they had a major meltdown. And then there are those famous actors Hollywood won’t cast anymore because they’re a nightmare to work with.
Here are some tips for other famous actors to help them avoid the pitfalls of these unpopular actors. First up, don’t diss your previous projects. You’re only going to annoy people in the industry. And earn a bad reputation. Listen up, Katherine Heigl. Oh, too late, sorry. On the subject of saying the wrong thing, it’s never a good thing to go on a racist rant. If you’re in the public eye, expect this to have a seriously negative effect on your career. You hear that, Mel Gibson? And an unconventional personal life might not sit great with getting leading roles in big success stories. Hugh Grant, you might want to take notes on that one.
Of course, some actors start off really strong with well-chosen projects. And then they choose a dud or two (or five) and their career takes a turn for the worse. If anyone proves how one movie can kill his or her career, it’s Eddie Murphy. One word: “Norbit”. Same goes for John Travolta. Two words: “Battleship Earth”. And if you’re doing well in romantic comedies with a broad appeal, perhaps don’t go down an R-rated route. Cameron Diaz, perhaps you’ll want to rethink your future roles.
Some actors’ careers simply don’t live up to the hype. You might get a big break in a huge franchise. But that does not equal automatic success afterward. Just speak to Taylor Lautner about that little nugget of wisdom. The “Twilight Saga” didn’t act as quite the amazing springboard to a stellar career that everyone expected for Jacob. And “American Pie” could have actually held Seann William Scott back rather than propelled him onwards. One word: typecast.

Personally I thought Norbit was hilarious, it was just getting bad flack from the people that thought it was about them and being negative to certain sterotypes. Which might be true, but I can't tell you how may people in my life I can think of when I watch Norbit! That movie was good funny comedy as I would expect from Eddie Murphy and I watch it every few months, it's just the people who can't laugh at themselves or accept the reality of oneself is what drug Norbit through the dirt.

Nicholas Cage's movie Ghost Rider was the last movie my dear mother went to see. As we left the theater she had a big smile on her face and commented that she really enjoyed that movie. I was so glad because I had selected that movie. I'm still hoping for a third movie where Cage goes around finding fabulous treasures.
Cameron Diaz did Annie, a voice on Yo Gabba Gabba!, and they're working on Shrek 5 now for 2019. And so what if she does R-rated movies? She's a grown woman and great actress. Also Norbit was an awesome movie I agree with half of the people in the comments. You really believe that Eddie Murphy stopped landing roles because of a movie from 9 years ago? He did many movies after that and he recently got the Mark Twain award. He might have gotten those very unnecessary and disrespectful awards for Norbit, but that definitely didn't stop him, honey.

Hollywood has always had this mentality about treating actors like circus animals. All these actors and actresses who have acted their socks off making this living for years end up with nothing when it's over. And then the bigwigs in Hollywood sort of take you out back and they put a slug in the back of your head and dump you in the river. That's the life of an actor.

Many actors and actresses have been asked the exact same question about what film, or movie role they may have not enjoyed a role in and they have not received the negative feedback from their peers.
Keep in mind that It also takes a Very humble person to turn down a second award nomination in lieu of believing that someone else may be more deserving of the award, other than herself in her own opinion. This was a Very Honest and Humbling before her peers.

It's called the Passion of the Christ. It is rated R and the entire movie is in some foreign language and is not in English.

Barbyriska Well I just gave you the name of that movie. I think Mel Gibson put the entire movie into the language is the language Christ spoke in during his time. Either Hebrew or Aramaic I think. But it does have the English subtitles at the bottom of the screen. I have no idea why Mel Gibson did this film in this way. I think if the dvd had the making of the film and tells us why they did it in that language. I think we will know why Mel chose to do the entire film in that language. But I think it either sounds like to me either ancient Hebrew or ancient Aramaic. I'm not sure if that's right but that's what I think what that language their talking in. All since they call Christ on the film Yeshua on the movie.

I am pretty sure Travolta still gets roles. just because they are not lead roles does not mean anything and sometimes cameos pay more than the lead roles. It depends on the contract that is negotiated.

I understand Mel Gibson but even after his meltdown I still love his acting and films like Apocalypto and Braveheart. I think if he comes back from the shadows he won't be able to produce good movies, but I REALLY hope he gets back out there and continue to create great movies.
