Being American of Chinese descent and having documented Chicago's Chinatown, seeing their resilience is astounding and makes me proud to share a culture with. A hundred or so years ago they were forced out of downtown Chicago, due to crime and high rent, and started their own community a mile south on the south side. It's the only Chinatown that's growing, due to strong leadership and community. Without those key things, they would have never have thrived. Someone has got to look out for the older generations. It's a shame they're living in fear all over the country. They're the most vulnerable to people who can't keep a grip, and that's why they're constantly targeted. People want to direct their own suffering onto those who are like them on the bottom of the social ladder but still have it in them to keep their wits together. It's such a shame. Thank you for your honest assessment, wisdom, and for showing the state of NYC Chinatown to such a wide audience. Hopefully, people will shake off their misconceptions, visit, and help stand up against people trying to harm the community.

Keep doing what you're doing, Peter. Years ago, while on jury duty, I watched a group of elderly Chinese doing TaiChi in the courthouse square. It was so beautiful and peaceful. We need to give people who have worked so hard some peace in their old age. Instead, they live in fear, thanks to Bill DeBlasio.
I blame human actions
I love how real you are. Keep up the good work!
Peter's videos are grassroots journalism at its best. He and his material never pretend to be anything - just the objective "this is what I see and this is what I feel" view.
Great points made at the beginning of the video. Coming to NYC soon for a visit. Love to look around and embrace the Chinatown there and see how it differs from Toronto's
What diblasio did to our city makes me want to cry. Police do not want to act because they are scared to lose their jobs. we went backwards, and nobody is safe
Why was he voted in? I hope the Chinese community didn’t vote for him because he was very open about what he was gonna do
Deblasio is a disgrace
@@hah3456 who is voted in these days
@@hah3456 lack of any better candidates, unfortunately.
@@jonchal5561 I’m not sure but NYC is a very liberal area and always has been. Voter fraud is rampant but Diblasio seems to be the type these NY progressives love.
I have only ever felt graciousness, kindness and hospitality from our Chinese neighbors in this country, whether visitors or citizens. I am Thankful for them. Good people. I truly wish people would love more and hate less. Especially now. Its necessary.
This was a great video. Peter. I love how he shows the truth that’s happening around our country. Peter best journalist on UA-cam. These little Chinese ladies are so cute. 🥰😘🙂🙂
Another great vid my man!! A good insight into China Town NYC - please god the people will return soon and people can move forward. Thank u from London Town (Uk)!
Perked up my Sunday afternoon, Peter drops a video.
Always interested to see what's on offer & going on around the world 🌎 I do not watch MSM or TV. So, always refreshing.
Big up from England 🇬🇧
Love the authenticity of your video. Me and my family will visit Chinatown next month!!! Thanks
Great insight and real world view as always peter thank you for your content!!
Peter, thank you for your unfiltered approach.
10:00 This is so common in nyc, you just tune it out when someone crazy starts going off.
its normal in newyork.. lmao

In every major city I've visited on the east coast (NYC, DC, Baltimore, Philly) I've always seen crazy shit like that. In Downtown Philly I saw a fight where a dude was about to get choked to death. In fact what he showed in the video was pretty tame tbh
Lots of great things to see and you still show the edge part in that 80%of your cut. Good JOb Peter
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Is not the same Chinatown that I knew back in 1994. My heart goes out to everyone in Chinatown, as I pray that the situation turns to a more positive one.
Thank you for keeping it real. People need to see the truth. There is too much censorship in the media. People are relying on streamers for the truth. Peace be with you
What a AWESOME INTRO!
ITS THE PEOPLE WE LOVE! NOT THE GOVT!!

I love your videos
I try to learn English and your films are interesting too.
Have a nice day Peter!🌞
Hai Peter, Good video!! Greetings from Holland 🇳🇱
Heb een mooie week Roy!
Chinatown has suffered a lot after 911 and 2009 economic crisis. Now with the pandemic, Chinatown is in very bad shape. I hope it modernizes but keeps its cultural identity.
mate that PS logo on the top right just makes me think I'm watching a Mount Sinai Hospital sponsored clip. Also happy to hear your thoughts in the opening of the clip. Can't agree more.
😂I know it's not a good logo. I'm actually in the process of rebranding with a new logo which is a huge improvement.
Nothing better than a Green Mountain Vermonter sharing people from all over with heart, intelligence and passion. You're the rockstar of real! Keep up the great works.
loved this video. yes to the dim sum !! sooo good. I think people need to understand Hong Kong and china are just different. the people/the culture and mannerism is just different. Hong Kong
“People are not politics.” So very true.
Thanks for sharing this video. We were planning on taking my daughter there in a few weeks and would love to support these businesses.
Hello Peter! Greetings from Germany! Have a nice sunday! :-)
Thanks, you too!
Thanks Peter. Enjoyed your tour.
I remember my visit in NY in 2006. What a great time, absolutely ONLY positive vibes, chill mood. Actually I've been there more or less same time as you Peter (late Aug). Great memories!
I think the Pandemic has def made some people burst at the seams. It's sad that they want to go after our most vulnerable. But I've def seen some folks go crazy here in VA too. I am currently still stuck working from home since last March so I think we have all had our moments of breaking. Another great one Peter. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for showing the reality of China town. I have wonderful memories of China town spending every summer in the city as a child.
Don’t be sorry that’s just content thanks for keeping the camera rolling
Another great video! I love Chinatown in NYC & San Fran… Little Tokyo in LA, I’ve had one of the best times there… but like anywhere we go, you have to watch your back 😁
That's certainly a good point, Peter ... regarding living in a city and getting out on the street and seeing vendors. Every city should have this ... a lifeline to food and produce. Such a beautiful feeling of community. Too many cities are becoming concrete jungles at their inner core.
Peter I have so much respect for you after this video, Thank you so much in providing more information on the CCP and The Chinese 🙏
You didn't have to walk around for days and dig deep to find pretty much typical struggles in the US..
2.5 hours was enough. Great vid. Thanks for taking us along.
China town is one of the must see places in NYC. Fantastic place! You should go back as it would be fascinating, especially in the current state of things.
That building you pointed to is called "Beekman Tower" by Frank Gehry. Great Video!
loved the edit cut from the park brawl to the flower shop and Dim Sum...love your videos.
I lived in NY for 20 yrs. My wife is Chinese. I did not want to see my wife or daughter beaten to death just for the fun of it by criminals allowed to walk free. NYC does not allow you to carry a weapon to protect your life. You are at mercy of animals. We moved to SW FL 8 yrs. ago. We love it.
Hope you are now practicing your God given right to carry and protect yourself and your fam with firearms … I’m Pakistani by heritage and born and raised in BK NYC .. moved to FL when I had my first daughter 3 years ago and couldn’t be happier …
@@MoAli-wm4of, Good news.👍🏻

@@generalnguyenngocloan1700 The Deep South has gotten a ton of Asian immigrants escaping from the horrible crime cities up North. I’m glad y’all are doing well! Lol your kind doesn’t belong here then if you’re scared of being beaten. I’ve never once nor has my mother been scared walking around the city lol you keep eating up the propaganda the media puts out 😂
Thank you for your video. It brings hope even with some of the darker realities it showed. I’m now a subscriber thank you!
Peter, keep doing what you are doing.
Peter, man, you are my favorite travel vlogger
I like the way you film your videos and discuss sensitive topics. Everyone has their own opinion and we have to accept it. Nowadays people like to think that they’re in the right and that they don’t have to respect the opinions of others.
Peter the great of UA-cam 👍🏼 keeping it real bro 🤜🏼...
You should hit up Louis Rossman from the Rossman Repair Group downtown. He's been vlogging about the decline of NYC for awhile now...
I love Louis !!
This would be an interesting watch indeed
He's grown increasingly bitter as his videos progress (for good reasons)
@@maxr2825 can't say I blame him
He's annoying
I love these videos because they show the reality, they remind us the world and the people is not like they appear on tv, on social media. People in general are honest, hard working, loving, they are respectful... They are not full of hate like we see on our screens. I love all the communities, on the end of the day we are all humans. Chinese, Korean, Black, Hispanic, White, Arabic, Turkish, Indian, we are all humans and we can get along great if we want.
….wish you could provide further (or in-depth) stories about Asian cultures (in particular to Japanese/Taiwanese/Korean contents) in America. I’m sure folks out there would like to know more about it, and see additional series related to “Asian in America”.
Great video Peter. Your American series somehow ignited my interest to visit and work in America one day - A Singaporean in Australia.
I love how the Chinese elders were just calmly watching the silly little scrap between the two Afro Latino men in the park. 😂😂
The two guys the park seemed like they were trying to get people's attention. They were probably friends.

And I ask everyone who reads my comment to accept this important issue. The people are separate from the government and a government should not be representative of the people because this is an unfair view.
In dictatorial and aunormal governments, the people of that country suffer the most. Love and peace from Iran.
Thank you for telling us the truth. 👏 Please keep the camera rolling.
This makes me so sad, I’m a country girl at heart but I loved to visit pre-pandemic NYC. I’m a lover of the theater, especially musical theater. I’ve been to China town numerous times. But now, due to the rise in crime and many of the new regulations I can no longer go. NYC relies heavily on tourism, they are already suffering due to the shutdowns but now they are discriminating towards people like me and it’s sad to see how it’s effecting the ordinary people of the city who have worked hard to make a new life for themselves. I am also an immigrant so I know that side as well. 💕 I can’t wait for the day that I can go back and enjoy the things and places I have come to love.
Much respect for your wisdom and open mind
There is a huge Chinese community in the San Gabriel Valley (SGV), which is close to our house in Altadena (by Pasadena, CA). My husband and I often go to the SGV to eat, and especially for dim sum. We are typically the only non-Asians in these restaurants, and have always been treated with much kindness. I feel terrible about the violence Chinese communities are experiencing all over the U.S. during the pandemic. It's a very sad situation.
I tried putting annual Dim Sum trip together with about 18 people. So many people against the vaccine requirement they all tapped out. Was sensitive and I did not pry but let them know required for dining in NYC and 70% of people bailed. PS. Your doing very important work on UA-cam. News is rotten andyou provide good education and information. Amish series was incredible.
Chicago's Chinatown is pretty much the same like in New York. Lots of people speaking againts the ccp and they used to have up to 20 cars driving up and down the downtown area every Saturday with signs against the ccp. The crime there has skyrocketed as well
they are fa lun gong cult members,CIA funded them, more notorious than antifa or proud boy,
and I'm willing to bet all of them were falun gong cult organized.
