That sentiment sums up how I feel exactly " I love the countryside but could never get used to how they do things" honestly that extends in a greater way to Thailand as a whole.
That is funny but 101% true about being in a tighter space in the country. We have the same experience. Chiang Mai had more space on home lots but our country home in a village is super tight. (Tighter than your wife's village) Seems like in the country they save land for income producing crops & live in a very communal type setting. They can all hear the daily morning messages from the Wat/Phu Yai Ban 😉
The old house you just showed had a decent sized garden out back ,although the boundary walls to each side were tight .I like gardening but you need to be interested in it as it is hard work .Of course in Thailand you can hire somebody cheaply to do a lot of the hard digging .The old house seemed very dark inside .The new one seems a lot better in that regard .Thai Banking has strange systems .It sometimes makes things hard sometimes easy . If you loose your ATM card for example ,a 10 minutes visit to the Bank will get you a new one .
i want to do potted gardening when i move to chiang mai next year. is there any gardening groups or anything? i did gardening in Michigan so i just want to know any adjustments i need to make to how i garden or is it basically the same? i'm looking to mostly plant produce plants
Basically the same, there is a ton of plant shops behind the big Lotus on the super highway. My wife and I went there and our taxi’s always drove us through that area coming from Chang Klan Rd. Should have everything ya need there.
Thanks again for your Good info. My I ask what kind of price would your House get and second you say 300,000 the other place to build was that Thai Bhat ? Hope you have a great day . 🙂
You and Mrs Jon are too young to be living out there. You need the hustle and bustle and business opportunities at central. That place is for those with a lethargic lifestyle. Not for you.
The same as just saying "I've really got to say..." don't think of the phrase literally. It's just used to put emphasis behind the next sentence, put more weight behind what you're about to say.
Always good to go back home, Jon. 🎉
Always good indeed :)

Yes I remember your videos by the damm...how you were longing and counting days (months) for your move to city ChM😉👍

Its perfect for a retired person .A retired Westerner living alone could find it very isolating though .
Depends from what you like. We are all different you know
You said about the noodles and often other things “I’m not going to lie” does that mean you normally lie? I don’t understand why you say it 🤷🏼♂️
My take: It means he cannot hide the truth or is exaggerating, a kind of admitting something or being seriously honest...

It's just a figure of Speech ffs. 😴

He is videoing, she has been there before. She is more intuitive than you.
