The chewing up of the bridge brought a few emotions to the surface.... The pride of the ones who built it, the souls that have crossed over it, the anticipation of something new in its place.... cycle of life... everything new is built on top of something departed... clinging to the past while eagerly awaiting the future. Nice to see Roanoke getting quite a bit of love from the Grab Bag and It's been a long time since I've laughed so hard at something as I did the Dinosaurs in La Grange

7:34 I agree I live out in Ontario and we have No VR Camera's here just None! and I live in a Historic Town where the Trains used to come through before....
There is the occasional rail-fan video from Brockville, Ontario, and there used to be a camera in Revelstoke BC, but I haven't seen any footage from there lately. Maybe they are waiting for the bears to reappear?
La Grange may have the weirdest drivers in the known universe, but their dinosaurs are top-notch! Wait--maybe there's a connection...That was quite the fandango in Arvada--and thanks for showing a couple of the Perseids; they are the prettiest meteors of the year and it was cloudy here so I didn't get to see any first-hand. The one in Austell was stellar--pun intended! Plus it's always fun to see the Golden Swoosh and a good MOW parade. Another great one!
As a childhood fan of the old stop action dinosaur movies, watching that crane “chew” on that bridge brought all those memories back. The play speed was perfect. If y’all watch those old dinosaur movies, you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. Keep up the great work, VR.
LOL, I know exactly what you mean about the old movies and the "chew"! Glad you enjoyed it and yes, I was going to put a few second clip of an old movie of a dinosaur chewing, but copyright infringements are a huge no-no and I didn't have the time to resource it.

Roanoke @0:40 I counted about 12 NW Hoppers. Nice to see ITC 1072 at Elkhart. Also S. Norwalk Tower again. That Bridge Muncher at Barstow was like something from a Sci Fi movie, just highlights the sheer power of Hydraulics. Most of all, Executive SD70MAC at Oklahoma City, beautiful to see - thanks VRF.
Wasn't the bridge amazing? When I think of all the hours and hours (and days, months, maybe years) of prep it took to get it to lift out of there so sweetly it makes my hair stand on end. And then bite bite bite ow ow ow...scrap. Sigh.

That bridge removal didn’t just happen one morning in a board room and was finished the next day. Weeks, months, years of planning went into that, “simple” operation.
The North First Avenue Bridge in Barstow, California, will be replaced with a new structure in preparation for BNSF Railway’s $1.5 billion, state-of-the-art and master-planned rail hub.
According to reports I have read, that old bridge was due for replacement. It scored 3 out of 100. Overdue.

What a Grab Bag! I need multiple comments to cover it all. Sad to see the bridge being cut up by the Giant Xuron™ track cutter. Dinos need to find a safer intersection to play on, but hilarious anyway. Buying cruise tickets just to appear on Grab Bag. VR cutting down trees so we can get a better view, priceless.

Vehicles. It has already been replaced by the concrete structure in the background.
VEHICLES AND PEOPLE WALKING ON IT IT WAS ONLY ON ONE SIDE FOR PEOPLE. IN A FEW YEARS IT WOULD HAVE BEEN 100 YEARS OLD. THEY PUT A NEW BRIDGE IN THE BACKGROUND BY THE MOUNTAIN MADE OUT OF CONCRETE WITH A HIGH FENCE ON BOTH SIDES. BUT A BETTER SIDEWALK ON ONE SIDE WITH A LITTLE WALL SO CARS CAN'T HIT ANYONE.
I HATE IT. WE TOLD THE MAYOR JUST MAKE IT A WALKING BRIDGE ONLY OH NO THEY DECIDED TO CUT IT UP TO PAY FOR THE NEW BRIDGE LOL.

You should come to my neighborhood, we have 🚂 that goes past the hospital and there’s an old trusses bridge that they still use. We have turned a portion of one of the train bridges into a crosswalk that attaches to the greenway walking trail. It’s a good way to keep us safe and healthy. I see you go to La Grange, Ky. There’s another great place in Kentucky called Glendale that has a train track that runs through there and it’s got a restaurant called the Wistle Stop and they have yummy food, especially the fried green tomatoes.

7:39 I’m glad someone has shed light to the E&N! It’s the only railway that is still running on Vancouver island. But they only run in nanaimo and not all the way to Victoria because the tracks are in horrible condition and the Canadian government will not step up and help bring this railway back to its former glory. We on Vancouver Island need help!

I was wondering if they were ever going to cut down the "weed" trees in Roanoke - been growing into the side of Virginian 135 for some time now.

Billy Minor was a famous train robber, and the pub is right next to the CPKC main line tracks. all those small MOW units ... diesel/gas electric? hydraulic? chain drive?
All are diesel powered. Various drive systems such as chain drive, shaft drive or hydraulic drive. Some of the bigger machines may have diesel/electric drive, but I have not seen one yet. Maintenance trains like the rail grinders and ballast cleaners usually have a locomotive style diesel/electric drive.

Hey, how come you didn’t freeze frame those NW 2 bay covered hoppers? Those motive power moves remind me of the first time I ever saw that. West side of Glenview, Illinois on C&NW main (that the Milw Road also used). Would see all kinds of locos but no train. Didn’t know what was going on at the time but learned about it from one of the RR mags. Does anyone know what the weight of those bridge sections were? One heck of a crane for that work.

Nice video, but the scene where the bridge is being taken down in the name of the video "Child's Play" are you referring to like a child playing with a toy bridge or are you referring to the movie?
It refers to how children when playing make complex things seem simple, like moving a toy truck up steps or an toy airplane flying thru a bush. Speeded up, the bridge's deconstruction goes so easily. It might not have been the best choice of words, but we do like to make folks inquisitive.
