I thought the architectural style was more neo-Gothic, fashionable then more many University campuses...particularly in the U.S. I'm surprised the clock didn't include even a single bell, never mind a chime or even a carillon! That could have become the signature voice of the University.
Are there any surviving examples of the other designs from the competition?
Wow, that was really interesting, I've been in there to hassle staff with my questions a few times, I didn't realise it was art-noveau.

Great clip with zero pictures of construction, the title is the history of? Another architect competition to design a building. That’s how they explain just about every building that we have predating ww2 and ww1. Designing and engineering a building for free with the hope of winning. Yup that’s how you make a living in this cut throat world.
