It’s your WiFi connection for sure. Mine is connected to WiFi and wired to my existing doorbell. As a result the doorbell rings including all my echo show devices in each room. I haven’t experienced that length of latency. It was immediate on my end. If it wasn’t mentioned already, you should make certain that the status under general settings is turned on to see the push button laminate on the doorbell when motion is activated . Wired doorbell configuration is better for continuous operation lighting. If your household power is off , the doorbell will still function properly off the battery throughout the blackout and recharging will resume once the electrical grid is back on. My only concern with this doorbell is no two way talks throughout Alexa devices only mobile phones. I have recently submitted to eufy a ticket to fix 2 way talking capabilities through Alexa echo show.
Thanks for the video and review. I have had one of these for about 10 weeks. I bought it to use for a security and helpfulness camera on my vending machine. That was a failure when it stopped working so many times and was vandalized after it quit working and recording one morning. I caught the incident on another of my cameras and was able to respond to see what was done. No real damage to the camera. Eufy replaced the camera as they really didn't feel like troubleshooting the issue with me... Then, same thing with second doorbell. I made them help me with settings and changing recording settings worked - but the battery that was supposed to last 3-4 months was now only lasting 4 days. So, off to Amazon to buy a transformer I could use at my machine. That helped, until it was vandalized again. I gave up and moved it to my house to replace my aging Ring doorbell. Video quality is better, but I started getting overheating messages from the Eufy app about mid-morning. It was set up facing the East in New Mexico. Hot sun must not be its friend. It didn't stop working, but it was annoying getting the notifications. My wife wanted to go back to the Ring, so here we are... Hope that helps with my review of my camera, my experience and my thoughts on the company.
I upgraded to this from an earlier model with only one camera, after watching your video. I added the h3 hub at the same time. I like eufy and love the dual camera model

Thank you for your review! Just installed mine the other day. I can confirm that there is a blue circular light around the doorbell button that lights up when approaching at night. From my understanding to have full functionality you must have the battery installed if it is wired. Looks like you have the battery installed with your hardwired setup so that’s strange your doorbell button isn’t lighting up.
Thanks for mentioning this Nick, other reviewers have also said the blue circle isn't illuminated? maybe it's on the settings? seems like an important feature to be lit up at night and a deal breaker if it isn't..
I really like this camera. I’ve been thinking of getting a new doorbell. I have the first Gen Ring. But I can’t see the ground. I’ve been thinking of adding an additional camera or two where I can see the ground and packages. I really love this camera ! I’m always getting packages at my home. The notifications are just too long. But I’m gonna research this camera more. Thanks for the review !
Just looking at a few of your videos because my MIL has dementia / Alzheimer's and need to set something quickly for the outside plus we wanted to get a video doorbell. I think EUFY with the home base 3 will give us everything we need
I like mine, but it is very hit and miss on packages. Sometimes it says there's one there when there isn't and sometimes it doesn't say anything when there is. But it's very nice to be able to interact with somebody when you're not home.
There might be something wrong or misconfigured with your unit because mine does have the blue light ring around the button when it senses a person has walked up like your smart lock did.
Great review, I do have a couple questions. For the extra ~$150, would you recommend the Home Base to go along with the E340? I currently do not have any Eufy products and I am not really sure what the Home Base does.
Thanks for this comprehensive video! Just got this doorbell and am waiting on my homebase 3 and E340 cameras to arrive (black Friday deals were really good!). I have gigabit internet speeds, so am curious to see if that affects response time. I will let you know if it does.
@@DoItYourselfDad My HomeBase 3 arrived last night, so I tested the response time on my E340 doorbell today. It averaged between 5 and 6 seconds from when I entered the detection area until I got an alert. I'm still waiting for two S340 cameras to arrive. I will also let you know the response time for those.
I appreciate your thorough review. I am definitely thinking about purchasing one. Actually, I'm thinking about getting the add-on unit, as well. Did you go with multiple units? Just wondering how that turns out from the app. Guessing you can toggle between the two. Anyways, thanks. Does "Hal" refer to 2001 Space Odyssey?
You can connect up to 16 cameras to the base station, I've got 12 right now. You can switch between which one your using in the app. And you got it, HAL from 2001!
I like the Eufy over the competitors because it comes in black. The white competitors will ALWAYS yellow within a year of outdoor use. It's can be powered by wire eliminating just another battery to charge, and lastly no subscriptions! My questions are: Can two Eufy cameras (Front Door and Side Door) be easily interfaced with a cell phone? Can my wife and I both use the Eufy app for notifications on our phones simultaneously? Can the Eufy camera image link to my Roku TVs? Thank you.
I must say I’m a little bit confused with the blue ring light around the doorbell push button that, from what I understand, is supposed to light up when approching. The led status is on on the general settings but I have nerver seen the blue ring light ever on mine but during the initial installation. At night, the two white leds near the bottom do activate when approaching but you do not see the push button ring light. Some comments here do report they have the blue ring light when approaching so, I’m confused…. Not without saying that every single pictures do show the blue light ring (Wired doorbell E340 bought mai 2024)
I noticed that the 340 has local storage on the actual camera, and the 330 shows storage on the homebase. Do you choose where to store the videos on the app if you have a homebase? I like the idea of the homebase storing the video, in the event that doorbell gets damaged or stolen.
One thing that I didn't get is the charging port. You said it is USBC while the new unit I received yesterday charged with USB micro. Did I get an older unit or you meant it's it charges with micro USB?
OK just one fundamental question. If I don't have a chime, will it make an audible sound on my phone or Homebase 3 or do I need to purchase a special chime. I want it to alert me if I am not close to my devices. Doorbells are sound devices as well.
I came across your channel while finding an answer/solution about one of the two Cons you mentioned: the lack of LED halo light. I replaced my Nest doorbell with this Eufy doorbell two days ago. I loved everything about it except the lack of blue LED halo light around the doorbell button that illuminates when motion has been detected. It's quite challenging to locate the button mostly during the night even when the top and bottom LED lights are illuminated. The blue LED halo light around the button of the Nest doorbell I replaced automatically illuminates when a motion was detected. I know the light existed, but it works during setup but may not be intended to work with motion detection or when someone presses the button. I wonder if you already figured out if there is mysterious setting(s) to solve this.
Everything works with the camera when it's plug-in with the wifi cable. But when I unplug the cable, the blue light doesn't come on the camera. So I don't know if the camera is working.
I have the S330 which is practically the same exact thing as this one. I think the one I got came first before. I also bought the basic 1080p doorbell before the S330. But I’m curious to know when you walk up to the doorbell does your model make a click noise when it detects you? I don’t necessarily like that it does click and I thought it was a defect with it but one of the representatives said it’s normal but he could’ve just said that just because. Also I’m not referring to the night vision when it clicks. Same sound just like it but it doesn’t matter when it’s in the daytime. Other than that it’s alright. It seems to detect me fairly quickly but I don’t have the alerts on cause I have it at a few places at other homes and didn’t want constant alerts when I want it to be at a specific location.
The clicking sound is normal on cameras when switching between day time vision and night/IR vision. It is the sound of a filter being placed infront of the camera.
I picked up one of the e340 about a month ago, it is wired in first month worked flawlessly. Then it quit sending notifications to phone. The view doesn't always seem to work sometimes. New firmware is available it won't load that. Seems to still record events, euphy is supposedly coming up with solution.
Thanks for the great video! 👍 it was exactly what i was looking for. I currently have the blink doorbell and from replacing the batteries twice a year and annual subsciption. This is a no brainer. the only thing is i'm not sure if i can use it for simple home automation like turn on the porch lights through Alexa.
Where are the videos stored if you don't have a homebase. Is it on an sd card within the doorbell device , and if so isn't that just simply easy for someone to steal?
At first nice video about the doorbell. In the settings you follow notification and there is ring around the doorbell. Whit the dual 2 pro it can light up when you approach the doorbell. I think it is possible whit the e340. Whit wifi6 you will improve the stability of your network. 6:51 nice Civic CRX 😊
If you don’t have a chime but have the Eufy base station, the base station will act as the chime. If you don’t have either I’d recommend the Eufy S330 doorbell, it comes with a plug in chime.
Good point, something I definitely neglected to include. I just went and checked it and I had a four second delay from pressing the doorbell to get any alert on my phone. The chime activated inside immediately.
Question for anyone I've the same unit and it's been awesome for a yr now . Question is tho would my transformer be able to continue charging 2 units as I'm planning on buying another one ? Also do I need another base or just use the current one I have ? Other words why plugin two when one base will do ?
I have the S330 & tried the E340 but I'm not convinced it's a worthwhile upgrade mainly because it's the same resolution, a pity it's not 4K. The package detection kept giving me false notifications on windy days as its facing a bush & a couple of plants pots. The mic pick up has alot of background noise suppression that sounds like its underwater, whereas the S330 has better clarity. The removal battery is useful to swap out when charging but there are no extra batteries available to buy yet. I also find that the top LED drains the lithium battery faster, especially during cold weather where I get around 3 weeks use. If I turn the infrared nightvision camera off on the S330 I get colour with the security light anyway. Strange why the button doesn't glow when someone approaches as it does on the S330.
@@billycurrys As the bush is directly in front of my door to add an ignore zone would also block out people standing in front of my door. I use an activity zone to block out cars on the road further behind to the top. Besides unlike on the S330 the E340 does not have an ignore zone, you can only add one activity zone for both cameras.
@@billycurrys Yes i had it set to humans only. Its the package detection feature that was making false triggers so the only solution was to turn those notifications off. Whether it improves with further updates i cant say, as i bought it just a month after it came out. I have since returned the E340 & gone back to the S330. BTW i have disabled Delivery Guard in the S330 aswell because that too had the same issue even with an ignore zone set. The software isn't reliable, altho face detection & pets is improved more on the E340. I only use the basic features to detect motion when someone approaches & to be notified when the bell is rung. Porch pirates isn't as big an issue in the UK. The bigger problem is the delivery people 'losing' it before it even arrives.
@@BionicRasta Yes i had lots of false triggers too, even though i had detection zones setup it was still picking up things outside of them, so i did a factory reset and it seems to behaving itself now and working well.
Yup! 2001! It only comes with one battery, so if you are not hard wiring it in you will have an hour of downtime every 6-9 months or so while you charge it.
@@DoItYourselfDad I just picked up the doorbell and chime from the eufy website with vouchers on the website and bought a spare "official" battery pack with a discount voucher from amazon for £19.99. That way, I can have one charged and ready to go when it's time to swap them out. Great video. will check the wifi speed when I get mine. Also nice 2001 reference
This one is designed to work with the chime already in your house. If you don't already have a chime and preexisting wiring there are other models that Eufy sells that come with the chime.
Whaaaaaatttttt? No light up ring around the button????? 🤔. I have the 1080 battery doorbell and that's one that steps up the experience! Especially when we haven't turned on or after lights have been turned off. Hope this can be fixed with an update! But I'll be holding off just be cause of that 😢
Weirdly Eufy says the wired version of S330 cannot connect to a Home base. It is standalone with 8GB SD card in the doorbell. But the battery version of S330 can connect to a Home base but you need an Eufy chime. I'm not sure if you still need an Eufy chime if the batteried version is connected to Home base though.
Does it work with an old chime because I connected to mechanical chime but it is not working. Also how do I know if it’s connected with the wire working without the battery I can’t go check the doorbell is working unless the battery is inside the camera.
In the app it will tell you if you’re running on power (wires) or battery mode. It will connect to old mechanical chime but it has to be working for chime to work.
Does the e340 doorbell when wired have pre-roll? The Amazon description states it does but I've read lots of things that it doesn't. I recently purchased the s330 doorbell and wired it for the trickle charge and not once since I've had it setup have I been able to see the motion that triggered my notification. Everytime I check the person is already gone and all I see is a package that has been delivered. I recently switched from Ring and it has pre-roll I know it's not a speed issue This is on both wifi and data. I checked my speed for upload and download and at my work and on data 5GUW my download was 534Mbps and upload was 81Mbps. At home on my wifi it was higher. When I click on my notification the app takes a sec to load, then when you press the play button that's another 5-6 seconds before it loads, so probably about 8-10 seconds for everything once I get the notification Thank you.
Hi, I'm confused why you would need a battery when its a wired model? On the website, the wired unit without a battery seems to me that it won't use the existing chime? Very confusing....The wired model shows some chime that plugs in an outlet... I'm I missing something? Also how many users can use the app? thx
The wired (non battery model) bypasses the chime in your house and pulls power from the doorbell transformer. With the battery version it trickle charges off the doorbell transformer and allows you to use your existing chime.
Oh…. You can use the same login with as many users/devices as you need. You can also setup multiple accounts and share your devices to other accounts if you want to be able to limit what the other users can do/change with your devices.
I just bought one here in the UK today and my blue ring does light up on the button when i approach it and i am using it in battery mode only. even your box in the video shows it has a blue ring

HAL 9000, obviously, the computer from "2001 a Space Odyssey" I remember when that movie came out. We had a fairly sophisticated calculator in the Engineering Department at my college. Somebody labeled the calculator, "HAL 9000". I think if Hal were real, it'd be insulted!!
This model and many other Eufy model cameras, in the APP DO NOT ALLOW you to review the full video recordings and time frame. You can only see and download an EVENT. If the AI software missed the event or just did not record enough pre and post video you can't get to the time stamp you might need. THIS is a BIG problem and really limits you on getting exact video recordings. This is a big ding. They fell short and I would pass on their camera model that have this limit. I am returning mine. it seems like any of their cameras that have the ability to run on battery have this restriction. All my cameras record to the Homebase Unit on prem.
Why do people still insist on having anything of value left on your front porch? There are safer options if you are not home. Have it delivered to your neighbor or get delivered to your local post office
Wait another 12 months when you are out of warranty...then see what piece of garbage you installed...CUSTOMER SERVICE IS A JOKE !! I would NOT recommend this product at ALL !!!!
MISLEADING! EUFY CANNOT BE TRUSTED. EUFY UK DO NOT HELP CUSTOMER. Eufy said, rechargeable battery will last for six months but it only last just over two months. EUFY LIED. WHEN SPOKE WITH EUFY UK, THE stubborn ENGINEER STATED “UP TO SIX MONTHS”

Hey do you know how to change the outdoor chime on the doorbell itself. Indoor chime is easy to find but can the outdoor be changed?
I haven’t found a way to change the chime, just the volume of it.
Question for anyone
I've the same unit and it's been awesome for a yr now .
Have you tried blocking out the moving trees using privacy zones in "Video settings" these zones are ignore by the camera
@@BionicRasta does it still do that if its set to HUMAN only
@@billycurrys Yes i had it set to humans only.
2001 A Space Odyssey? I'm assuming it doesn't come with an extra battery?? I can't find where to order one on their website.
Yup!
Please make a video how to install with existing mechanical chime
If I don't have a "homebase" can I order one with a chime for this model? And will it add storage onboard?
This one can work without the homebase and a chime can be added, though it can also work with your existing home chime.
Do you need to buy a chime for this or does it come with it? Thanks
This one is designed to work with the chime already in your house. If you don't already have a chime and preexisting wiring there are other models that Eufy sells that come with the chime.
@@DoItYourselfDad thank you
The E340 doesn't have a glowing light around the button when it senses motion?
Sadly no
@@DoItYourselfDad Yes it does. Mine works when it detects someone approaching. Blue ring around button lights up.
What is stopping someone from just stealing the battery-operated doorbell?
Its screwed to the wall... if they yanked hard enough then it's gone.
Whaaaaaatttttt? No light up ring around the button????? 🤔. I have the 1080 battery doorbell and that's one that steps up the experience! Especially when we haven't turned on or after lights have been turned off. Hope this can be fixed with an update! But I'll be holding off just be cause of that 😢
It’s strange, their other doorbells that I’ve used have had lights around the button, just not this one.
Hey do-it-yourself whats the difference between E340 vs s330? Hope u can answer my ?
The S330 doesnt have a battery so it has to be wired, the E340 has a battery so you can install it without wiring or a chime.
The S330 can also be used wireless. It has a micro usb charging port@@DoItYourselfDad
Does it work with an old chime because I connected to mechanical chime but it is not working. Also how do I know if it’s connected with the wire working without the battery I can’t go check the doorbell is working unless the battery is inside the camera.
In the app it will tell you if you’re running on power (wires) or battery mode. It will connect to old mechanical chime but it has to be working for chime to work.
does it have pre-roll video when it is wired?
No, unfortunately it doesn't have preroll recording.
Actually its written on the box that it does have pre-roll but it has not yet been implemented via a firmware update
Pre-roll is available now. 3 second option only.
I recently switched from Ring and it has pre-roll
I know it's not a speed issue This is on both wifi and data.
I checked my speed for upload and download and at my work and on data 5GUW my download was 534Mbps and upload was 81Mbps. At home on my wifi it was higher.
When I click on my notification the app takes a sec to load, then when you press the play button that's another 5-6 seconds before it loads, so probably about 8-10 seconds for everything once I get the notification
Thank you.
I also havn't noticed preroll on the doorbell, which is strange because I do have it on their wired panning cameras.
@@DoItYourselfDad Thanks Pal...gonna order one this week!
I just bought one here in the UK today and my blue ring does light up on the button when i approach it and i am using it in battery mode only. even your box in the video shows it has a blue ring
Don't know why mine isnt working then....??
@@DoItYourselfDadYou should make certain that the status under general settings is turned on to see the push button laminate on the doorbell when motion is activated .
HAL 9000, obviously, the computer from "2001 a Space Odyssey"
I remember when that movie came out. We had a fairly sophisticated calculator in the Engineering Department at my college. Somebody labeled the calculator, "HAL 9000". I think if Hal were real, it'd be insulted!!
Does it have live view mode
Yes, it does.
Hal Holbrook from "Barney Miller" of course!
I hope it opens the Pod Bay Door......
Dude where do you live with a doorbell on the door, wall and a camera up in the corner!?!?lolol
Ironically one of the safest cities in the country..... Im just a big tech nerd.
That lag is the internet
Hal 9000 a supercomputer :)
Not new.. been out yrs now.. eufy is the best ! Better than ring or others.. this review is late!!
lol…. Go look at the publish date of the video.
Not fast enough!!!! The person is there and gone!! No i have 1tb high speed
My eufy still is slow!! But i love it. No subscription!
Motion detect is unreliable. Tried two different cameras and both stopped working after 24 hours or less.
It’s a bit difficult to know the validity of a review if the review of a technology is being performed on admittedly flawed wifi technology.
Have you changed the settings into the "most efficient" mode?
