You have recovered something in me which is this capacity for attention and deep attention, ❤️ capacity for attention and deep relaxation as well as😊 deep relaxation in the attention .😮. I am really so proud of me and proud of you and all the women teaching yoga❤🎉 you are the best. I come from Columbia which is a South American country but my ancestors are Lithuanian from My father's side, and native South American from my mother's father's side.😊 This means I host in my heart a big love for ancient practices as Lithuanian culture is really old and ancient and actually Lithuanian language holds a lot of similarities with Sanskrit so much so that family members of mine who live in Lithuania went to visit India and they felt a familiarity with the language even if they didn't understand modern Hindi.😊 As for native South Americans, we had developed a form of yoga, which aims to protect the energetic body and not also the heart, and to honor and connect with nature around us, especially the moon the sun and the mountains ❤ Right now I find myself in Finland where this class was done by me in a gym, with wonderful foam mats, and the whole small gym just for me and your voice and chanting.😊. I cannot stress enough both as a mother and as a yoga teacher who certified in yoga teachings in 2020, go to has been discovering the practice of yoga since 2017, that I loved the fact that you are singing and that your chanting is really what is taking this class to a whole other level of capacity for relaxation of the human body which is female. The fact that you sing is separating this class from others and your chanting is what is taking this class on a whole other level, ❤, at least for me. I had never experienced anything like it. I felt surrounded by mother earth. Maa. The Planet and the country and the soil and the firmness of the floor. The repeated Shavassanas were a styling of the class that I have never seen and that I will adopt for my own classes from now on❤🎉. And I really think that it is what is menstruating women need. It was what I, menstruating, needed. To feel supported by the Earth and remember, that the Earth is my mother. not in my mind but in my body. To feel it, that is. To be reconnected with that unwavering support that is always flowing, You really do know yoga. I am honored to be your student and a fellow woman ♀️👠 that practices alongside you.
🌺This is a wonderful variation on the classical Sivananda sequence. Honoring the downward movement of Apana Prana during our sacred moon cycle time, this is a well-rounded class that manages to move the spine in all directions and offers a full-body experience. Although there is a slight technical blip with sound (around Ustrasana), this only lasts for a short while and clears up perfectly. The final relaxation is especially rejuvenating. Thank you! 🙏🏽🕉

It is not easy to apply a general rule to all like this, without knowing the student and where they are at in their practice. But when you are on such a strict fast, it is best to just get good rest and avoid any physical exertion.
This is an excellent practice. However, I have a question. Can this be practiced on the first and the second day of the menstrual cycle or should I wait for the third day?
Thank you for practicing Nimisha and sharing your experience.. If you are comfortable, then you can safely practice this on the first two days. You can do less as well, for example, leave out surya namaskar completely if you don't want to practice it. Omit whatever feels too much. In general everything which is beneficial during menstruation, and all things which should be avoided, they have been taken care of in this class.
I have a query.. I have come across many schools of thought where it is said that during menstruation we should not perform any postures where blood flows in upward direction.. like bridge pose or halasan etc. I see that some of the poses here are in upward direction... what is your explanation?
Surya Namaskar improves the blood circulation in the body, and also relieves tension from the back and hips. Surya Namaskar warms up the body as well before the asana practice. We are only doing few rounds in this video with that purpose. If someone feels uncomfortable they can skip it, and practice asanas directly as guided in the video.

During menstruation, there is lot of discomfort in calf muscles and ankles for many, the leg raises help to reduce that. In this class, very basic leg raises are done, and knees are advised to be bent if there is discomfort. Since we also avoid inverted postures during menstruation, the leg raises give part benefit of that as well, without inverting the downward flow of energy completely.
