nice video dude! id recommend as you said already to jump a bit lower and take of a little more half wind rather that downwind, especially as the wind gets stronger. keep it up🙌🏼
My spock form is in a similar state. I have been doing them for a while but have not been able to do the double spock yet for the same reasons. Some things I've noticed which improve the form to make it easier to grab the other side of the boom as quickly as possible - turn downwind a bit more which centers yours gravity near the mast to make the rotation faster - pop the board just enough to get the fin out of the water more like buttering on a snowboard and keep it flat rather than angled towards the water - flat water... the bigger chop you run into the harder it will be to make the pop small and rotation fast, but the spot you have in the video is perfect!
On going downwind: I did this for a long time also, as it makes rotating much easier. But my spocks actually improved dramatically as I started doing them across the wind or even slightly upwind in strong winds. Not going downwind increases the control over the board and power in the sail you have before popping. The increased control helps especially in choppy conditions. Also, when going downwind rotating might be easier, but it also means you have to be even faster with your hands, as you have less than 90 degrees before the board is pointing downwind. Another point: going for the mast instead of boom to boom helps in not jumping as high and keeping the board flat.
@@larsrbg Thanks so much for this feedback. What you're saying really makes sense. I think I'm going to have to experiment with this more and try the techniques you’ve mentioned.
done vulcan and learning spock. Some tips from me(what i see important) -dont jump too high, u will fall badly like he said -fast move with back hand to another side of sail! i always had more control if it was a bit lesa wind than overpowered! ❤
This is crazy, I've been going through the same recently. Since landing a few spocks, I have barely landed a single Vulcan and I feel my technique isn't good enough. My biggest problem is also throwing the back arm out to the side instead of grabbing the new side of the sail straight away, so I've also been focusing only on the hand change. I can see a clear difference in your first and last spocks - I hope I get the same result!
I’m using a 101L (JP Freestyle), I think the 93 would be easier but it depends on your weight. I use 101 because I’m 84kg. I usually use the board I can go fastest on

Thanks dude! Appreciate the advice 👊

Sick video! Work in progress 🔥 can't wait for the next video🤙
Awesome progressions!!! Thank you very much for documenting your journeys through your moves!

Hello Will, what is the volume of your board? For learning shaka, is it better to have a 100L than a 93L ?

@@willnicholls5 Great, thank you for your answer. I'm 70kg and I usually sail on a 80L wave board. So I think that 93L is a good choice.
How hard can it be?
Ask the sinuses.
Looking good! 🤙
