Albinos were referred to as Dundus in Jamaica. While they were certainly not hunted and killed as has happened in Africa, it is safe to say they were shunned in Jamaica. Yellowman was brought up in Alpha Boy's School and talks about how he had to eat his lunch on his own due to being shunned by the other boys at the school for his albinism. Hopefully this has changed but we are talking a while ago; Yellowman is 57 years old now......
Respect is due to you, like me, a supporter of the downtrodden. It takes more guts than people think to treat the lowest person as well as you would the highest. Blessings :)
but yellowman said it his self in interviews he had a hard time with some people of being an albino I said some people not all some people did shun albinos in some parts of Africa they kill them not all ile be happy to send you some links if you want
im not showing off or anything but when i see people being shunned out of ignorance i feel the need to be their friend and most times will get out of my way to stand by their side. Then just by being their friend other people let down their guard and be friendly too. God created people like us for for a reason Unfortunately we are scarce on this plannet or not brave enough to show real colors
If this is true it was long time ago and people wernt aware of what it means to be albino. I can assure we love them and we dont kill them and shun them. You probebly watched those documentaries where they terrorize them in africa and assumed Jamaicans do the same.
Well this statement makes more sence to me. There were albinos at my high school We treated them like everyoneelse You see them for the first time and you stare and get over it. I cant speak for older generations but i just asked my mom and she said no! everyone gets shunned at some point in their lives I got shunned before too.
so if it was shunned in jamaica how come hes a legend and jamaica loves him to death even after his surgery and his face disfigured they love him more? I went to school with albinos and we didnt mistreat or shunn them. We are not animals we dont shunn albinos in jamaica. imm sick of you haters blatantly lying about jamaicans. seem like this era has bocome the "lets conspire against jamaicans" era I was here to witness the lies
I think it is fair to say that his parents abandoned him, he was treated poorly, but not prohibited from developing his art and... eventually... winning over thousands (if not millions). His would be a sad story, were it not for his talent. I'm sure every country has the same story. The truth is not necessarily an attack, though it may sting.
This entire performance ended being better than the studio versions of these songs. So badass.
I shook his hand on my 35th birthday!
