It's just hard to cut losses and move on in any given situation, life, love, football etc etc. Man Utd especially find it hard to just cut losses and move on, we even still hold on to Fergie era to this day, all this "united way" talk and it does not suit anybody or anything...it's not working.
The fact that we gave Evans a new contract shows how unserious we are as a team, how will Maguire think he doesn’t have a chance when we have an almost 40y/o among our ranks? I have seen the Ineos and they are all noise and a shield for the glazers. It’s the same shady business like always. Yes the structure above the manager is improved but the decisions will always be financial.
Evans is still a very competent defender, regardless of his age. Quite a few times I've seen him 'out-pace' opponents with his understanding of the game. Experience is invaluable.
You’re really complaining about a 1 year contract extension for a club great? I’d take 30 minutes from Evans over 90 minutes of Maguire any day of the week

Ineos aren't all that, its okay bringing in players but let's be real the glazers also brought in players...maybe not as efficiently but still did, the one thing I wanted to see is clearing out the players that need to go but clearly thats not happening
It's not as easy as player gone game over, it's over inflated wages, paying out the rest of their contracts, then trying to balance that against the losses united would make if they just decided to get rid of players like maguire and sancho for peanuts, ffp would screw us

When Ratcliffe said it will take 2-3 years to undo the mistakes of the past, perhaps he means - there are players we can’t sell because of their wages and we’re only going yo get rid of them when their contracts run out.
We keep saying it's not Ineos fault - Sorry it is! They decided to get in bed with the Glazers, they decided to buy into the club and take over the footballing side, they allowed the Glazers to stay, they stopped Qatar from owning the club. This is now Ineos fault, otherwise don't side with the enemy. I blame the Glazers and Ineos.

@dazv3605 I really think Ineos are trying, but a lick of paint can't gloss over what they've done. They've poked their nose in, stopped us from becoming debt free and, more importantly, glazers free and aren't delivering. It's joint venture and I blame Ineos as much as the Glazers. Sir Jim should have kept out of our business.

@jerryobi2511 Sorry, what you said makes zero sense.. As fans, we have no say and forced because of this alliance to accept the good and bad. Ineos choose to get in bed with the Glazers, choose to own only 25%, and choose to take over the football side. They should have done their due diligence and review better.
How do you sell players nobody wants?
The problem is the wages. No one will pay their wages. They wont leave to take less wages. We cant afford to pay them to play elsewhere so we gotta wait for contracts to expire in a few years and hope we can still be competitive in the meantime
The payout to Maguire wouldn't be that much. He should be able to get £120k elsewhere so pay him the £70k difference for this year. That's a one off payment of £3.5m. Take the £3.5m from his £30m transfer fee. That still Nets you £26.5m. He only has one year left on his deal because we won't be stupid enough to exercise the option on the following year.
What some are trying to ignore is that maybe, just maybe Ten Hag is the who wants to keep him.
Also note that there was some sort of falling out with Ten Hag and Varane

But that's the crazy part, the stars of the team, the important players go missing when they are needed the most and then it's up to so called "deadwood" like Maguire, Scott, Dalot, AWB that won u crucial points and games while Rashford, Bruno and Antony did nothing and they know the focus is on Sancho and Maguire and whatnot. It's literally the only club in the world where the stars of the team hide behind the averageness of the rotation players, stars of other big teams are the focus if things don't go smoothly, nobody is looking to blame bench players like why is ETH shifting the focus onto Sancho who is riding the bench after they lost to Arsenal instead of questioning the players that started and gave us stinkers????

I think ETH deserves some criticism here. Not regarding the Maguire situation, but he's been saying how he wants to keep McTomminay who is also part of the deadwood of the club.

Disagree with your argument… Emery came into Villa and inherited a team where fans were calling to get rid of Watkins, McGuinn and Douglas Luiz. He didn’t have to get rid of anyone and improved almost every player dramatically. I’m just not sure Ten Hag is the best coach for improving players.

Not even Harry Potter can get Bissaka Mctominay or Maguire to play any level of possession football. On top of that Villa don't have players on stupid wages who don't want to go meaning we can't reinvest into the squad. That Emery example simply doesn't work

Have you ever heard of negotiations? Both parties can negotiate a payment schedule for the remainder of the contract. That's how buyouts work.
Either the club needs to pay players to leave to free up space or we have to wait a year for the deadwood to be out of contract.
Maguire played well last year. If he is happy being third choice then fine.
Maguire didn't play well. He was simple not as poor as he had previously been. If De Ligt comes in he's not third choice. He's 4th choice. What does that say about him? He needs to go.

Players on big contracts won’t leave simple. They have every right to stay and would rather let it run down and get all their moneys worth then leave on a free. Especially if they know their next contract won’t be more than what their on currently
If INEOS could pay off these players to leave, they would but it's simply a longer term job and players will be phased out by sale or end of contract over a number of transfers Windows.

6:56 I dont think there's such this as a 3rd or 4th choice CB anymore. It's going to be two first RCB options and two first choice LCB options who are all in their primes and get rotated every few games and an emergency option who's either a young academy prospect or a CB who is close to retirement like Evans, who will come in when we have injuries or suspensions. When you have good squad depth, the way you keep everyone happy is by defining their roles before hand and making them feel respected and valued. The moment you start diminishing their roles is the moment players start kicking off and become toxic.
I'm no squad building or man management tzar though, it's just what I think.

Ineos not showing any signs of improvement. Offloading players has been our issue for the past 3+ seasons. If Ineos are only signing an 18 year old CB and a 23 yr old striker that barely played in the Euros, I don't know what the hell all the hype is about.

At this moment I highly doubt the team has the consistency to win the league. To at least stand a chance of winning the league the team need to get at least 80 pt. To get 80 pts the team can only afford to lose 6 match and would need to win 24 matches and draw 8 matches. And this is only the minimum
