Totally agree on Stiff Little Fingers. I loved the power they put into their music. Now Then is a wonderful album. You had a very successful record fair Mike
I listened, and remember now ! From Dublin, and before Stiff Little Fingers up in Belfast, I think.. Radiators were first on the scene.. I'm pretty sure.
The Akron comp with it’s scratch n sniff cover definitely had a sickly smell to it and it didn’t dissipate that quickly. Good old Stiff Records. Remember the Stiff tour by train ?
Tracy Ullman’s show was a comedy sketch show if I remember correctly. Simpsons shorts were shown between skits. A nice batch of 7”s. Rubber City Rebels and the Waitresses got radio airplay in LA.
Great selection of Singles there Mike. Would love that Bow Wow Wow. I got the Three of a Kind show (w. Lenny Henry) and Girld On Top on DVD. And one of Tracey’s albums with that song on it on vinyl from back in the day. Kirsty MacColl writing and Paul McCartney showing up in a cameo for the video of They Don’t Know. I loved her short music career 😊 Hope you are having a lovely summer Mike. Cheers from Morten
Hi Morten. I forgot to mention Kirsty MacColl and Paul McCartney. And thanks for reminding me about Girls On Top, a really funny all female sitcom. Cheers Mike
Hi Mike, Looks like a fruitful visit to the fair. I have duplicates of the Wedding Present singles Nos 1,2,3,4 and 6 so if any of those correspond with gaps in your collection let me know and I can send them your way. Other notable Akron natives are Chrissy Hynde and Lux Interior and the Black Keys I think were also formed there. Andy
Hi Andy, I really should have mentioned Chrissie Hynde. The Wedding Present I need are 1,4,5 &6. You've already been very generous to me. You'll have to let me know what you're looking for so I can keep an eye out at the record fairs. Cheers Mike
@@mikevinylspiral Hi Mike, I’ve got that now thanks. Couldn’t see it when logged on to the iPad but available when viewing on a laptop for some reason. Andy
Great pickups Mike....the B-side of Cardiac Arrest (In The City) is a Madness fave of mine. To the best of my knowledge, it was going to be released as a single but for some reason it never was but it appeared on their first greatest hits album. It was released as an A-side in Japan and was used to advertise Honda cars. I've got the Japanese 7" single 👍 I didn't do too bad at the carboot sale today, came home with a few singles and a couple of albums. I also came across a Wedding Present album today,if memory serves me right it was called "Tommy" ??? Does that mean anything to you ???
Hi Nick, I've decided I need more Madness singles, I picked up copies of Grey Day and Shut Up along with Cardiac Arrest. Tommy is an early compilation album of Wedding Present's first four singles and some BBC sessions. They rerecorded it as Tommy 30 a couple of years ago. Definitely worth picking up. Look forward to seeing your car boot finds. Cheers Mate
Nina Hagen is the daughter of the famous DDR-actrice Eva Marie Hagen (Berliner Ensemble, Bert Brecht), who later on became life companion of the controversial and famous singer-songwriter Wolf Biermann.
@@mikevinylspiral And a "fun fact": I 1999 Nina Hagen sang and acted in Dreigroschenoper (Three penny opera) at her mothers old theater Berliner Ensemble. So the cirkle closes at one point...

The Radiators looks interesting ! Stiff Little Fingers "Now Then" is a good find as well.. Change is good ! Nice records, Mike 😉
Hi JT The radiators are really good first wave of Punk.
I'd love to pick up one of theirs.. We'll see ! I'll stream some Radiators on my lunch break 👍

Nice pick ups mike 👍
You did well there Mike with some very interesting singles that I especially enjoyed. Cheers Dale

Mike, l haven't seen that Akron album for years. I used to have that😂 Great pick ups once again.
I'd not seen that comp for a very long time either so it had to come home with me😅

Hi Brent. The scratch and sniff is long gone on my copy. I was lucky enough to catch both the Stiff tours in 77 and 78
I love "They Don't Know"!
It's a great song.

Hi Ritchie, the Akron compilation was my favourite buy this month.

No I didn't smell anything
