For those unaware Zestial is the oldest overlord so it stands to reason he laid the foundation most of the other overlords follow and has earned the respect of most of them. also there's a reason why he's still alive
I like the idea that Alastor tried to topple him, and just couldn't.

@@captainflowers748Yeah, I think the overlords were meant to be the least powerful demons in hell, not including ordinary demons. The Goetias, such as Stolas, the 7 Deadly Sins, including Lucifer, the sin of pride, and the rest of the Morningstar family are each stronger than the overlords.

I love how Velvette didn't try to pursue/attack Zestial after he said his piece. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but I feel like Velvette was able to see his solid defense and knows how to pick and choose her battles wisely- so she instead just kept attacking Carmilla because she definitely had something to hide and an open weak point that Velvette could exploit.

I feel like she targeted Zestial cause she was using it as a bait for Carmilla to slip,the only ones that catched onto that were Zestial and Alastor.The reason that the meeting was productive was that it was supposed to be an unproductive meeting where no info was disclosed but Velvet managed to change that. If Carmilla had shutted her mouth Velvet wouldnt have had the oportunity and she points it out at the beggining of the song, Vel's attitude was the right one and Carmilla's was the wrong one.

In the episode she only goes hard after him when she sees Carmilla react to the angel head and he's the first one to speak up. She attacks him to bait Carmilla, and she falls for it hook, line, and sinker.
zestial's single line said everything she needed to know tbh. she immediately gathered he wasn't going to indulge and went back to pressing carmilla
No one talks about the “oops did I strike a nerve?” Like that was one of my favorite parts of the song
Velvette has a method to her madness. She learns what gets people to react, and she gets a reaction out of them, and she uses that reaction to uncover their secrets.

I like how you can see how she acts through Zastiel and Carmilla, Zastiel knows Velvette is trying to get a reaction out of him, so he keeps his cool, and you can see that visibly annoys her, meanwhile Carmilla is falling for it, and you can see Velvette very satisfied with the reactions she is getting from her.
I mean, zestial is a very intelligent guy im sure he wouldnt be so naive to fall for velvette's tricks.
Zestial has seen hellspawn and sinners just like Velvette come in and out before. He's just thinking about how he'll outlast another one.

@@MaxiIelwithout a doubt he's intelligent, as he's older than almost all of the characters that we know about besides actual religious figures like adam and lucifer. With him possibly being from the 16-1800's. With centuries of experience, velvette's words were nothing to his experience.
Thats probably why Zestial is one of my favorite characters in hazbin (next to velvette hilariously 💀)

I LOVE VELVETTE'S DESIGN. Her attitude, her walk, her accent that deviates from what we originally expected out of her, just all 100% awesome. And don't get me started on her OUTFIT, oh my god her outfit is perfect.
I like the fact that her outfit is totally diferent from the one she was wearing before, it makes sense for her to constantly change her appearance.

I just like that despite how much she dominates the battle of lyrics Velvet is diminished by how her choreography constantly highlights how small she is compared to the other overlords.
She's literally stomping around on the meeting table like a little kid who just got told they aren't invited to the grown-up dinner their parents are having.
And typically, she's motor-mouthing a bunch of taunting nonsense to irritate people so she can think she's doing anything (or IS anyone) meaningful. Her faction's whole shtick is media entertainment, and she thinks she can backtalk to people who, you know, can actually fight and get shit done in Hell. Aside from Carmille getting upset at her shit-talking at Zestal, literally no one bothers wasting time debating anything with this uppity newcomer.
Never mind she's doing that in the presence of _Alastor_ who A) has a body count of former Overlords much older and stronger than him, B) recently DUNKED on her friend Vox despite supposedly being "outdated tech" and made clear he's gunning for them and C) has suspiciously been gone the same amount of time as Lilith Morningstar AKA Queen of Hell, clear implication to anyone smart that you probably don't want to talk shit at him or anyone he respects.

Do I think she stands a chance against most in that room? I mean I dont think theres any chance she could win against Alastor, Zestial or Carmilla, but the rest are up in the air since neither her or the rest are even shown fighting yet.
Previously vivzie said that Alastor is a 6/10 and Vox is an 8. Velvette is stronger than alastor but weaker than Vox. Idk if that’s still canon though

That’s the point I think that single line tells you the reason why he’s the sole survivor of the old guard. Not only is he incredibly powerful but has the brains to know intelligence of the enemy can improve odds of victory.

With how long he's lived, he seems to have gotten practice at not losing his composure when under pressure or taunting. He seems to view Velvette as both a toddler throwing a tantrum, no real threat or concern to him, but also as someone with potential, the exorcists are not invincible but they need more information, and while Velvette is impatient and stubborn she is the most likely of the overlords to further explore weaknesses and gain support from demons.
Given a little research i did on the guy, he's currently, the Oldest of the Overlords. Dude hails from the freaking Yee Olden times given his speech. He's easily over a thousand years old, maybe longer@skrubknight884

And if you think Alastor hasn’t filed that little piece of information away for later, you’re dead wrong. I don’t think he would go after velvet so soon though, because he knows if he takes her out now, the Vees will completely crumble, and it would make the game way too easy.
Val is the muscle he does the physical labor gives the content, vox plans it out, hes the one pulling the strings of all their operations, hes the brain, velvet is the one spreading it and is using her platform to get them their status she definitely is the back bone

@sabinamacintyre6677 If you listened to the actual song, you'd realize that Velvette put together that Carmilla was involved in the angel's death, which is why she was so adamant about going to war against heaven.
Without Velvette putting Carmilla in a corner at the end of the song, Alastor wouldn't have had the incentive to further investigate what Carmilla knows about the dead angel, meaning he wouldn't have been able to relay that info to Charlie in episode 7 and the Exorcists would've just annihilated all the sinners during the Extermination.
All that happened because Velvette was clever enough to put the pieces together and knew exactly what buttons to push in Carmilla to confirm her suspicions.

Definitely not. She certainly benefits from the other Overlords being weakened(something the Vees sing about in ep 8) but she just genuinely sees herself as unstoppable due to her quick rise to Overlord status and thinks that they can easily beat the angels(much like how Alastor thought he could beat Adam)
@@traehignight To be fair, if Alastor spent less time berating Adam and just got to killing him, he probably could have. Similar to how Lucifer also only played with Adam until he went after Charlie like he did. Probably a Pride Ring thing.
i doubt it. Alastor is powerful, but adam is on a different level. He caught adam off guard a few times so i think he could have done far more damage, but i doubt he could actually kill him.@@writer_man5318

I just love that when Carmilla started singing, the instrumental started with a guitar, almost Spanish-music style. But when Velvette started singing, it switched to pop-style music. And even when Carmilla tried to take control of the situation [“You and the Vees are inane and uniformed”], the instrumentals never switched back to the guitar, suggesting that she never got back the control of the situation. The song continues with Velvette on top, until Carmilla abruptly ended it.
Also, for someone who is the personification of social media, Velvette is written as a surprisingly smart character. She immediately knew that Carmilla is hiding something and would’ve been successful had Carmilla not sung “This meeting’s over!”
Once in a while, Velvette gets to have a smart moment. Just like the internet!
I mean she definitly inows how to get under peoples skin and flame up drama.
Which is smarts too.
Maybe this is why at the very end there’s a guitar playing.

After the Vees found the angel, Velvette probably suspected that a fellow Overlord was most likely the one to do this, and decided that she would bring the head to the meeting to get info, and probably make one of them fess up. She was able to figure out Carmilla had something to do with it simply based on her initial reaction to seeing it. Considering how little we’ve actually seen of the Vees, I’m terrified to think what they are truly capable of when acting as a trio.

It's honestly the funniest part about this series in general. It's not like the typical musical, in which the singing is just replacing the dialogue and nobody is even acknowledging that they are singing. No, they fully lean into the fact that these characters actually just straight up go into full singing mode at random points.

I did not expect Velvette to be this savage and big of a boss based on her initial brief cameos, but WOW is it so much cooler than the initial impressions were pointing to.
It was definatly MY favorite part and a savage little turnabout in an already tense meeting of crime lords.

I see so many people saying this scene show's that she's smart. Honestly... I don't think smart is a good word here. She's cunning, and notices Carmine's reaction to the angel's head, sure. However, she also makes pretty much no valid argumental points throughout the song, and wants to rush head first into a fight with a great power without knowing anything. She relies on stealing attention and getting a reaction, like the social media she represents. There's very little real value in her points.
Agreed, how many sinners died to this extermination alone, millions, tens of millions, hundreds of millions?
It's smart in terms of achieving her goals - it's just that her goal was to make the old guard look weak and feckless, with a potential offensive against Heaven as the convenient packaging to wrap it all in.
You can be smart and successful while still missing a larger point that'll come back to bite you.
The fact people seem to be agreeing with her is also a good reflection of her role. I mean, think about it: how many times do you see someone cause a stink on social media in the name of a cause only for that cause to turn out to be a lie or otherwise misguided?

I like how we’re introduced to the Vees as a big threat that’s led largely by Vox…only for Velvette to show she’s VERY perceptive, hard working, and despite her rudeness is 100% aware of how to play someone. Here I thought she’d be the shallowest of the Vees, since she didn’t have any ties to the main cast members, but instead she’s just so compelling (and catchy!). I don’t think any single one of the V’s hold a leadership sort of power. Vox is the brain, Valentino is charismatic and Velvet is an influencer. Valentino isn’t book smart but he knows how to manipulate because even though he was about to make a dumb move of attack the Hotel and was talked down by Vox, Val still was able to get Vox on his side by appealing to his emotions and bringing up Alastor. Velvet knows how to reach out to the people which is a skill both Vox and Val lack so they bend to her when it comes to how to handle others,
Well that’s easy: She’s got no full-time nemesis of her own. Vox has a bitter rivalry with Alastor, and Valentino wants Angel Dust all to himself. Velvette has no one, so she rags on everyone expecting the instant gratification of a reply

For some reason I really like the rhythm and delivery of the line "that's what the guns you sell are for," I really don't know why but it's my favorite part.
I think what makes a song incredible is if the vocals have the careful construction of lines rhyming and how you put words together, if you can make the sentences flow but also pop with energy the song becomes smooth like leather. Music is important but if a song has vocals you NEED the words spot on.
