I agree I love NSYNC but BSB was always better. JT is an amazing solo artist IMO but I don't think it's fair to compare a boyband (BSB) to a solo artist.
I have little to zero info on this boyband subject, but I think nsync was pretty good as a team. just listen "i thought she knew' a capella

i have major respect for these guys; they still sell out concerts all over the world. they've stuck together for 20 years. Still make the same great music. The best selling boy band of all time, and they got a star on the hollywood walk of fame 2 years ago. The are no longer just a boy band for teens but for people of all ages. I'm 24 and love these guys. I wish them much success, but they've already attained that.
I'm crying and shaking. So many emotions. Never seen them in concert or met them just because the tickets always sold out and are expensive. But i remember buying all their stuff and casset and the CD's. I even had a backpack of them. TALK ABOUT hard core. Can't wait for this. So excited! Forever loving Kevin and Bryan!
"We're big in Europe!" LOL But seriously, why don't people count that? If I went platinum in Europe, you better believe I'm flaunting that all over! Backstreet Boys are and will always be the best. They got underrated because of the million other not-even-together-anymore boy bands that came at the same time, if not after them.
the US is the 3rd largest country in the world and most music companies are based out in LA everyone wants to make it big in America that's where all the record labels and producers are.
It is an achievement as different cultures/languages however I think there is a belief that any pop band will do amazingly across the whole of Europe regardless and that simply isn't true. Just look at NSYNC who did ok in a handful of nations in Europe and LFO,98 Degrees etc who did nothing despite promo.
I think though I like them a lot they were wrong to come over and trash the European groups just to big themselves up as superior that is a bit disrespectful and shows arrogance as BSB in many ways were more of a boyband than the Europeans they dissed. Euro boybands played instruments and wrote their own songs and rarely did the boyband synchronised dancing/outfits thing commonly associated with boybands like BSB/NSYNC. Fate was the MAJOR factor in their European success as the biggest group out there by far Take That split 3 months before the first Euro release for BSB meaning they had no real competition (East 17 were fading and Boyzone were always in the TT shadow like every other pop group and then BSB shadow) and a major void left by TT was for the taking. AJ has even commented before that they were incredibly fortunate of TT split just before their first Euro release as they would have been sharing sales across Europe and continue doing nothing in the most influential and hardest market in Europe the UK if TT were still around as they dominated and no boyband could get a look in for 4 years. BSB had a few flop singles in 1995 despite success across Europe in Britain due to TT and didn't get high in British charts where they tried the hardest to break until TT departure. Once they made it in Britain they went truly huge across all Europe as being a commodity in the UK musically spreads into wider Europe.
I've heard the boybands below sing acapella and all members were great so they must be referring to the boybands who weren't successful in Europe.
In terms of Certified minimum album sales in Europe (IFPI) it reads
1.)Take That (UK) 17 mill min sold
2.) BSB (USA)/Westlife (IRE) 12 mill min sold
3.) Boyzone (IRE) 7 mill min sold
4.) Blue (UK) 5 mill min sold
5.)One Direction (UK)/East 17 (UK) 3 mill min sold
New Kids/Five/Busted - 2 mill
Boyz ii men/Hanson/Worlds Apart - 1 mill

Martha Menefee lol I'm 17 in a 90's kid i am grateful my parents showed me quality music lmao. i tend to listen to 60- 00's and some pop songs 10's but i really range to 90's music especialyl hip hop and classic vocals from mariah and harmonies from bsb

So excited for this. Proud to have been a BSB fan from '96 on up. A true part of music history and despite what anyone says, they had the talent to back it up. BSB4L!!
The truth is that Backstreet Boys a talent vocal harmony band. 1D couldnt be compared to them. I used to listen both of them, but i have to commit that BSB's harmony and solo singing skill is way much better than 1D from watching their live performance. OK, BSB is definitely the biggest boyband of all time. not just a "boyband".
The backstreet boys will always be my favorite musician, band, boys and human beings. Sticking together through all these years and still making music with all 5 unique voices, staying the same in this crazy and horrible new artists world.. I guess there's something about them, whatever comes around they'll always stay the same. They will always be the greatest ♥

I think BSB are the world best boyband ever..
Around October last year I was forced to listen to what is known as current "pop" music and i was terrified. In general, I have a rather eclectic taste in music ranging from classical to heavy metal and I remember being absolutely in LOVE with the Backstreet Boys! So I went on a 90s music binge and downloaded all my old favourites to re-listen to them now as an adult and all I can say is - Thank you to the last era of TRUE boy bands and girl groups! I found it odd at first but something about "Everybody" by the Backstreet Boys makes me automatically smile, even giggle sometimes and its almost impossible for any old fans of theirs to NOT remember some of the music video dance moves! Seriously, think back to what your favourite song or group was back then and go give it a listen - Its like nostalgia and happy childish pleasure is being poured back into a life where we are supposed to be "Adulting"

I will forever love these guys despite some of their flaws (AJ and his habits and Nick with women). They are the epitome of boy band and they can still sing. One of my favorite childhood memories was getting to go to a BSB concert with amazing seats. I got to shake AJ's hand and Kevin waved and winked at me (I was so close to the catwalk I could touch it and climb it if I had so wanted). My mom paid so much money for the tickets, the concert sold out in minutes but her friend had connections and got us the best seats he could manage. Even she says she still doesn't regret having spent the money. My mom even enjoyed their music and the concert and she wasn't even all that into pop music.
I've been a true BSB fan since 1995...Many pleasant memories with these guys.....meeting them finally all together (before Kev came back) in 2011....Meeting Howie and Nick several times.....going to concerts to some US states , Toronto, and of course Ottawa......these men have helped me through the toughest times...the tears of joy and sadness.....Went to 2 of Howie's cruises for Lupus...but most touching experience....when I found out I was on the same plane as Howie and AJ to Toronto to do Burger King commercials....I didn't even get up to meet them..didn't want to be a pesky fan but gave all my CD booklets to the flt attendant to give to them to sign.....AJ was asleep but Howie kept them with him as long as he could before landing...when I got my booklets back, here I was...sitting there, tears streaming down my face, looking out the window........I will never forget that.....As a mature fan...I didn't want to bother them....so I quietly and patiently sat in my seat the whole time..A devoted fan I will remain.......!

They're the best, no doubts, the best boyband ever!!! No other band can sing with such harmony and be those amazing showmen for almost 22 years. I deeply admire them, and as time goes by, I admire them more.
I never forgave my mom for not letting me go to the only BSB concert in Venezuela back in 1999... I was finally able to go to the Madrid concert last summer and it was fantastic! I will always be a fan!

Backstreet Boys are amazing❤️ They are my favorite band. I've been to three live shows and met them twice. Their live shows are wonderful. They are great singers, dancers and performers. They are wonderful men so beautiful inside and out.

I watch BSB's documentary yesterday (Jan 30th) in the AMC theater and it was AMAZING! I highly recommend anyone to watch it in theater or video on demand/iTunes/Amazon/etc.
The thing that makes BSB so much then the giant popular boy bands today was the fact that, sure it was looks, but these guys knew how to harmonize, blend and vocally work as a group. If you're to do a group, at least have good singers and a group who actually knew music. And that's what BSB were. they weren't extraordinary amazing as individual singers, but together they worked it. After watching this acapella medley they did, with modulations effortlessly, they earned my respect.
Backstreet's back alright
My first concert was The backstreet boys in 1999 in Amsterdam, i was 13 years old that was truly a dream come true back then, i had my room filled up with posters i listen to them all day long. I traid pictures with a friend. And i still love them, this year i saw them again in Amsterdam i feel like that 13 year old girl again. Even my father like them as the only boyband in The world. Can't wait to Watch this!

so much has been going on for the band thanks to DNA album that i feel this documentary is missing a brand new chapter. They've made it back to the top, they've doubled the audience at their concerts, billboard chart again... who knew?? So proud of these guys, they never stop writing their own history....
AJ was a bit off. They were at their height from like late-1997 to 2001.

Ah yes. That era back from 1999-2002 when I was 18 (in '99) and I wished for the sake of the whole music industry that all the boy bands would just die or be killed, except for 98 Degrees of course. 98 Degrees appropriately named themselves because they were ultra hot and sexy. I still title Nick Lachey as one of the finest white boys I've ever witnessed.....EVER, but back to my point. I remember how I couldn't stand watching TRL on MTV and day after day after day seeing a boy band video at #1, at least when it wasn't Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera. And then about spring or summer of 2002 it started wearing off and hip hop and rap metal/fusion (whatever you call that music that Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park made) started dominating the countdown and then life was good again. We started seeing less of 'Nsync and Backstreet Boys and more of 50 Cent, Nelly, and Ja Rule. My mistake was probably watching TRL in my twenties in the first place.

I just saw them in concert last year and the theater was packed and the show was just as amazing as it was 15 years ago. They are entertaining, talented and really put on a show. Can't wait to watch this documentary.

Mel S - "In A World Like This" album wasn't all them who wrote the songs. I'm a big fan of BSB, but they co-wrote 8 of 12 songs (67%). This was their first indie album (self funded and them having their say, without their heavy label control in choosing their songs/singles). Their own label called (K-BAHN)
Abrar Qureshi - They do in fact wrote/co wrote a lot of their songs (about 20 songs co-written by the members that made it into their albums) and 3 songs that they fully wrote themselves. Brian wrote "That's what she said" by himself, before that line became a joke from the tv show, The Office. Lol. "The Answer of Our Life" & "Time" are full written by the five member of BSB without any help from any other writers. A lot of songs they had been written by them, didn't get approved by the label/management. Look up a great song that Nick Carter wrote the "Just Kids" about the band he grew up with but it didn't get into the album because it didn't fit or rejected by others. Those type of songs will never get to see the day of light or any of the BSB unreleased songs that's on YT which never made it but are way better songs.

Their journey is filled with interesting ups and downs: AJ and Nick's struggle with addiction, Brian's heart surgery and voice issues, the death of Howie's sister, and Kevin leaving the group for some years. I'll be interested to see them talk about all of that in their documentary.

OMG I really have great memories of my childhood listening to them, I was and I am a great fan of them and also a huge 1D fan.. The point here is that a lot of people say they are a copy or stuff like that when they are giving the best according to the time.. In 20 years another boy band will win the world and it's going to be the same.. I love music, I am a proudly boy band obsessed and I do not compare, I live the moment and enjoy the lyrics.. And yeah I want it that way cause that's what makes me beautiful...

I just thank God Backstreet Boys are ALL STILL ALIVE and WELL, I do wish that AJ Mclean and Nick Carter didn't have to go through all those addictions and family woes but glad they're better now, just for old times sake I wish AJ kept his old weight and silky smooth voice but obviously the beer and cigs made him gain weight and damaged his vocal cords (on a side note he needs to stop smoking)

I'm not a fan, but anyone who was once that famous would still be able to sell out concerts today so I don't see why they don't still tour. honestly if the backstreetboys, wanted to do a concert in new york today it would still sell out from nostalgic people, adult females who loved them back in the day, and hipsters to see them "ironically" lol ect....

This is gonna be cool to see how these guys do their thing... Not only are they a pop group boy band but a vocal harmony group who ad to make themselves big, touring through high schools and middle schools yeah lou pearlman held an audition but they where not signed to a giant label to begin with... and we can see how they evolved from that. And see them work now that they do about everything music wise and business too.

Yeah, I heard AJ got into a screaming match with Kevin at one point, during the "Black & Blue" era. AJ also butchered the lyrics to "Everybody" on the TV special that year, adding references to food and such.
I kinda thought it could be Kevin, but I don't know. Nick did say in his book that in the early days of BSB he was kinda intimidated by Kevin just because Kevin was the oldest and he was the youngest and Kevin was very much a leader in a lot of ways. But I know their relationship has changed over the years and Kevin has helped a Nick a lot.
