@@Mako2401 That's what I've been saying for a decade. There's a disorder called "body integrity disorder" where people essentially think they have the 'mind' of an amputee, and so will want to remove healthy limbs. I've never understood how someone wanting to surgically modify their body to align with a mental perception ISN'T a mental illness, whether an arm, penis, breasts.
The thing is to have it actually change they would have to put more triangles into the butt same with the boobs for the boob slider. They also would have had to do the same to all armors and outfits the character would wear can it fits correctly without part of the body clipping through. Can they do that? Most likely yes though will the game engine they are using support it? Maybe or maybe not that is why there are so many addons to each game engine to make what the developer want to do work. So if it couldn't they could make it so it would. Now for performance would a high poly model make less sense than a not as high poly model? In most games lower poly count is better with exceptions but for the main character having it a high poly model if it can be should be a thing even if they had to reduce the poly count on other stuff like NPCs. So it might be the 3D modeler as told to make it so it cannot happen instead of told to make it so it performs best. Yes lower poly count in most cases will perform better you still have some that it will not and depending on how the game's meshes are constructed it might have just looked bad if they allowed the player to adjust the boobs bigger. In most stand alone 3D model character makers you get 2 sliders for the boob size then 2 sides for boob position. Game simplify it down to 1 slider to do all 4. You also have as they are in the code you also have the Y and W axis that they could adjust. W is mostly a value in the physics engine. In most games it is used to either make it move more or less. So what i see is a manager wanted it but didn't want it to take time so all the easy to put in stuff was and the harder to get right stuff had minimal effort put in. In part it might be that Dragon Age isn't known for girls with big boobs and big butts so it would break the lore but also as it is in the ad video most likely not enough time to make it so it doesn't clip through the above mesh for clothing and/or amor.
The Qunari look too human and soft now. I hate what they did to them. This is supposed to be a grimdark themed fantasy world, now it looks like a pixar fantasy.
Definitely weird, I was looking at it like wtf? I also want to actually try out the character creation system because IGN is renown to be terrible reviewers and gamers.
that and the asian elf irk me the most, they don't look like elves, they look like asian girls wearing elf ears, same with the qunari which is just dudes with horns
Bruh, the OG DA1 Qunari were just tall, very human looking, black dudes with cornrows and no horns. They look radically different in each game, kind of like the Brutes in the Halo series get their look changed with each game.
There's kids growing up right now who think this is normal because they have never seen past media. They are eschewing short term profit to eventually create this modern audience.

So the double masectomy scars thing totally breaks verisimilitude. We're supposed to believe that a gender affirmation surgery is an option in a pseudo-medieval fantasy setting with literal magic. Utterly absurd. This is the most bold-faced example of prioritising modern day sensibillities over a coherant, well-written narrative.
It's like characters in Harry Potter having glasses 😂 they have magic to fix everything they could ever need fixed but dont use it for eyes and here we have literal world remaking magic available but people are getting dangerous surgeries with lackluster medical equipment 😂
Your first mistake was not to notice they put the scars there to indoctrinate people into believing experimental surgery for a mental health condition... is not only normal, it is to be celebrated.
I’ve seen it a lot in other fandom spaces too, and it really highlights what a fetish trans sexuality is for a lot of these people. People with dysphoria don’t want it evident that they are not their chosen gender. They don’t embrace surgical scars or show them off. That is a quality that is only highlighted by people who don’t understand the condition, or get their rocks off to it.
Not only is this a thinly veiled paid promotion from IGN. The woman speaking ticks all the boxes for a modern audience fan: - Fake gaming experience - Over hyping mundane features - Focus on diversity - Avoids providing any actual criticism
I've always wanted to make fantasy characters but find them unrelatable due to them not being affected by rare conditions. Specially conditions that could never naturally occur in a fantasy setting.

Part of the reason behind the breast size being so small, if it's not directly an agenda, is actually just lazy game design. Breast size changes the way clothes work in games. Skyrim modders had to retexture all of the armor sets in the game just to work with larger breast mods. HOWEVER, this is an issue from over a decade ago. Should be part of the basics by now.
Its weird that this only goes for the main character, the npc qunari we see standing around as guards in one of the gameplay videos look like they looked in DA2
And the male has a feminine one. Very narrow shoulders and low muscle mass. This is straight up subversion, trying to make it seem that males and females are more physically similar than they actually are.
DAO was the only truly good dragon age video game. It's unfortunate but bioware juat isn't capable of making games like they did with kotor DAO and mass effect. I have 1 friend I know for sure would be very disappointed by the butt and chest sliders, because she always makes her character look like her, but in this game she can't. These developers talk so much about inclusivity, but then exclude so many people.
If i may be honest. I feel like most females, whether attractive or unattractive, have larger features than what this slider allows, and that's sort of upsetting..I agree.
What was that glute slider? It literally didn't change at all from 0% to 100%. She just proved that the sliders are just there to lie to players, and not actually be functional. It's interesting how fast she skipped over the details of the Human-like characters.
It technically did. Just do what I did, and point a mouse at full screen over the pixel where ass ends at 0% and see 2 aadditional pixels added to the left at 100%. what a joke
The gender swap thing bothered me in Hogwarts Legacy aswell. You have magic, spells and potions to alter your body - but Sirona has a male voice, even though even the polyjuice potion does change the voice. It was just lazy virtue signalling and taking a stance "against" J. K. Rownling. The same with the witch who just *had* to tell you about her wife. If you want acceptance, implement these characters natually and don't let them stick out just so everyone gets it.
Yup. Very stupid, especially when it’s set like 200 years before trans characters would even make sense. Sure, they existed, but it was never on the scale we see today and in a world with magic any trans person has the capability to just… cast a spell? It’s all very stupid and obvious
Not to mention sir Rona would probably look like a very attractive woman post transformation and not the rough approximation of a very ugly one which is the closest to being a woman most men can hope to achieve with modern science.
You gotta remember that was before this DEI bs, back when people kinda didn't really cared what your orientation was and weren't as PC. They also had the awesome Renegade or Paragon system which in my opinion was awesome with the special triggers based of where you stood on the karma scale
If you're wondering about the weird choices like having "top surgery scars" in a fantasy game, it's because the game director is trans. Otherwise, the body sliders aren't impressive likely because the character is an elf, and elves in Dragon Age are super skinny and lanky. Like an average male elf has less body mass than the average human female -kind of skinny. If you want to see an example, search "Dragon Age 2 Merrill" and then search "Dragon Age 2 Isabela" and you can see what a huge difference there is between elves and humans
"As a Dragon Age fan, it feels like a homecoming of sorts" - Well clearly you aren't a fan then. How about everyone stops kissing up to big corpo with bad games?
They made the female character models look exactly like in all of the other dei games. They just slapped a female head on top of a male body and called it a day.
The "modern audience" is approximately 25k people, MAX, based on what we've been seeing in sales numbers for "woke" games. Until more CEOs accept this, more studios are going to be burned to the ground.
@Aeeeoi Happens when you have a competent production team, doing the coat tails of a massive IP like DnD. As to DnD, let's not pretend that it hasn't gone down in quality since 3.X. They dumbed it down to the lowest common denominator, and then pandered with stuff like the combat wheelchair.
@@ArnoldJudasRimmer.. Maybe this is? No one outside of youtubers have played it and all the youtubers, even the ones who were hating on it months ago, are saying it's a good game. Chest size goes from -%55 (7:47)to +45 (8:48) and there is no noticeable difference in breast size, exactly like the ass size, there is almost no discernable difference from maximum to minimum. Those sliders are clearly there just to trick consumers.
Had to check your timestamps: they check out. +45% chest equals a soft B at best, so unless -100% doesn't turn the chest concave, the range is no/A cup =-100% up to ~0% and ~0% to +100% = B cup. How do I get to this assessment? If +45% is a small B cup, and assuming the slider is evenly distributed, there's no way the maximum can reach higher than a small C at best.
Speaking of which, many "anti-woke" curators on Steam don't recommend games that have a character creator (like in general. What this game is doing is stupid) or a mute protagonist, just because it is now considered inclusive💀 Though more hilarious take can be found in ULTRAKILL's curator reviews.
Talking about character creation, for whatever reason many of the "woke detector" curators on Steam do not recommend games with any sort of character creator. Or mute protagonists. Or well, for whatever other issue they can find. Like for example the Steam curator "Woke Content Detector" has rated Space Marine 2 "Not Recommended".

People are actually saying the top surgery scars represent people with breast cancer... yeah because thats who they were thinking of when making this insane decision.
Having worked in healthcare for a short amount of time and helping women recovering from surgery related to breast cancer: it's super traumatic to lose your breasts. That's why women choose to get surgery to restore what can be restored with implants or, if that is not possible, get pads fitted and custom made to put in their bra. The only woman I got to know in that time who was fine with just the scars and who actually had both breasts taken off although only one was affected, was a 60+ yo woman with some deep trauma of awful things having been done to her in her childhood.
But wouldn't a cancer patient...NOT want those flaws in their escape from reality? If I was handicapped I sure as hell wouldn't want to play a fantasy game where my character rolls around on a wheelchair.
Yall are missing the point. If it was to give representation to breast cancer survivors they would call it "Mastectomy scars" because that's the medical procedure. "Top surgery" is a Trans thing only. Literally diminishing women's issues to pander to trannies

Im a woman and what he said about women shaming other women for being too well endowed is absolutely true. Women sabotage eachother by picking on eachothers appearances. You can shame someone to be insecure about things about her that are actually positive, influence her to do things that make her look worse etc. The entire fat positivity movement is about that imo. Considering today almost everything is outsourced, probably most of these games are made by some guy in India or Pakistan, who has only ever seen a mobile game. You can't really make a game if you don't know what a game is. A game is not a representation of reality... it doesn't need to be "modern" or anything. You can make whatever you want, however unreal you want. It's strange why in a fantasy story all females should be average or worse... you can make them better... why not?! There are games from 20 years ago with hotter females, than what they make today, all these "modern audience" games. I don't understand that whole trend to make females ugly on purpose. @@softluxuryone2169 Many Japanese games even from much older consoles used "Body Type" instead of gender, possibly for localization reasons/simplicity. Nothing to do with agenda in this case. But when western games that used to have gender don't have it anymore, that's a different story.
The artists for these studios are aware of body positivity so they include that in character creation. "Imperfect bodies are perfect" is what they are obsessed with.
My prediction is that eventually more and more games will flop, studios will go bankrupt, and they’ll blame it on white men. After all that, hopefully, we’ll get a factory reset, things will go back to normal, we’ll get another good 20 years, and then the cycle will start all over again
Unfortunately... these cultural cycles don't usually reset until there is massive bloodshed, historically. Whether its Mussolini, Stalin, or Hitler (and probably many others before them) it typically doesn't reset until enough carnage has been reached that people finally can't just sit on their ass and ignore or ignorantly complain and civilization takes the hard road. The only hope that it doesn't lead to that is that we have the internet now, and that could make a difference in how its navigated. But typically extremist idealism eventually leads to an overreach for power that ends in massive bloodshed. And the grab for power doesn't always come from one side of the political spectrum. Sometimes it comes from the left, like in Stalin's case, and sometimes from the right, like in Mussolini, Hitler, or the Taliban's case. Eventually, the cultural divide becomes so strong that one side decides that it is "So correct" that they have the authority and moral duty to install their ideals onto the others even by force, and that is when they rise to power via populism and then the only way to stop them is through bloodshed. The overwhelming majority of human beings are just wired to be followers. And therefore idealism is almost like a cancer that just keeps growing until it gets so big that it must be culled, because human beings will just keep getting more and more extreme until what once was good becomes a bad thing and then violence becomes unavoidable in order to stop it and reset.

The combat is designed for casual gamers because they're making it for them. That's why there's a large focus on the hair looking good and identity. Just look at how their panties become a waterfall over this shit. They aren't losing their minds over big swords and powerful spells, they're losing their minds over how their character looks, and 'cute' dialogue and cinematics.

Yeah. 100%. If you apply the "revenge of the nerds" frame to the social/political climate, it makes a lot of sense. Trump is a jock/preppy, they're the nerds/theatre kids. Technology affords weak people a novel advantage over people who are physically stronger than them. The tables have turned in favor of the people who would have been the bottom of the hierarchy, and you're seeing the revenge phase play out. I think a lot of these cultural choices are made specifically to annoy us (i.e. normal people). That's what you do when you're a rebellious teenager, you take pleasure in making the lame adults squirm with your choice of clothes and music. This is no different. After you see these ridiculous "modern" things, imagine a voice that says "What do you think about THAT, Dad!?!?!?" And then it all makes sense.

- It won't change anything.
😂
need a mod for it and the color pallet is so bright. Should be dark.
😂😂 the way she said she gave her character a big ass😂😂

Though more hilarious take can be found in ULTRAKILL's curator reviews.

Something tells me medical practices in Thedas probably don't allow them to detect cancer lol
Breast cancer has existed for decades, but top surgery scars only started appearing in games half a decade ago. Don't get gaslit.

"We've spent 10 years making this next-gen dragon age installment. We've spent 9.5 of those years on bringing you HAIR, the other half of the year on the rest of the game. This is truly a next gen experience."
These graphics are good for an MMO released in 2015 💀
Which is what this game originally was supposed to be...
But then they merged VeilGuard and Dreadwolf into one project.
Even for a MMO released in 2009, 2011 and 2012 like Aion Online, Tera Online and Blade & Soul
for a second I thought it was genshin impact
Vanilla WoW had better graphics and combat.
I'd give it a mobile free-to-play (pay-to-win) level of visuals at best)

@@Black_Emmanius_Prime video games aren't about representing that's what.
I fucking HATE this lingo.
@@johnway8819 he's one of them devs probably
It's the fact that these people only consider representation in most superficial sense, to the point of being offensive
Like Killmonger hair they give every black dude nowadays
