Thanks for these videos, I enjoy them. Do you know why there are remnants of another rail inside the two being used? Was there a narrow gauge system in place years ago?
The Stuttgart tramway system was a 1000mm-narrow gauge system and was between 1985 and 2005 rebuild to a 1435mm-gauge. For twenty years Stuttgart had a mixed gauge system. The line U 3 from Plieningen to Vaihingen was the first line with 1435mm-gauge opened in 1985.
Some of the old meter gauge track is still used by museum trams. They run over the summer on sundays from Fernsehturm (the TV tower) to the museum, through the city centre, stopping at a few places on the way. As well as the extra tracks, on the underground sections in the city there are the low height platforms which were used to board the old trams.
I enjoyed the video and the scenery, thanks for the ride.
Wunderschön auf meinem Kanal #ZugStrab hab ich die U12 drauf.
Used to ride this almost every day from Kelley Barracks (near Landhaus) to the rest of Stuttgart.
I did this route a few years ago to visit the Agricultural Museum at Plieningen, and it was pretty much the same weather.
that's why whole Mersedes are black :)
I travelled in this route in 2006 and 2009😅

@@marcandrek1514 thank you for the information. It's interesting to see the remnants of the old system.

Now in Stuttgart it Standard Gauge.
