What they can do only added to that. This song makes me think of what'd happen if that mask of forcibly perceived beauty were to be torn away. All that'd be left is a feeling of serene dread, and the aftermath of what its visit entailed.

One of the monsters shows up and seems normal, even helpful and can bless your units. but when it does this 12 times it turns into this thing for the rest of the game. the hardest monster to contain.
To me, it seems as though the angel is evil and the girl is here to take down this evil. She has no sign of fear, she seems prepared to fight this being. From the environment it could be 1 of 3 things in my mind. The afterlife, Purgatory, or simply the future where corporations have taken over the world with megalith structures but an apocalyptic event of some kind happened.

Nightmare fuel, eldritch creature, white devil. A voice spoke within her mind. "Your time ends now", it wasn't her voice, but a deep voice that sounded like many voices at once. She refused, defiantly her left hand clasped in the air and a bright red blade - the colour of blood - formed in her hand whilst behind her a much larger red blade formed. The sky was grey, all around them concrete rectangles, some with exposed wiring and in the distance the city. Now empty, a reminder of all that was lost in this madness. The ground was covered with thin watery blood, pooled from the masses who entered the coalescence. A small few escaped it though she wouldn't call them lucky. Brought into this new world. She gazed up at the monster before her, each one of its beady red eyes glared at her. This was it. A final battle to end the Coalescence, to revert the order of nature and repair the damage done. The ground was covered with thin watery blood, pooled from the masses who entered the coalescence. A small few escaped it though she wouldn't call them lucky. Brought into this new world.
She gazed up at the monster before her, each one of its beady red eyes glared at her.
This was it. A final battle to end the Coalescence, to revert the order of nature and repair the damage done.
Everything had led her here, every cut, stab, each struggle, all the pain and gore. The sights that would haunt her in every waking moment, never leaving her.
It all led her to this final battle.
She could feel her heart pumping, her blood coursing and the smell of death.
"Deep breathe in, so you're focused ok?, then aim true and pull the trigger and then if God gives you some mercy, snow, you'll win". That's what her big brother taught her back in the orphanage, on a grey day when they he snuck out with her to teach her shooting.
"One last time now Emily, one last fight, you can do it,", she thought to herself taking a deep breath, opening her eyes to and the grotesque thing in front of her.
And then the two battled. An eldritch being and a simply lowly orphan with an unyielding will to bring her world back.
Red blades the colour of blood clashed against the eldritch beast.
