Same. I play with my cat, but it still doesn't seem like enough for him and goes after my bfs cat. I would have a bird feeder out the window since he has a high prey drive, but we can't at the apartments. He can't go outside, because he's afraid of every noise. We used to let him out on the balcony til he caught bats and brought them in. Sometimes I'm at my wits end with him.

Ribotto Studio I thought my over hyper cat would NEVER be calm but we hit the two years mark and here we are, now she lies on the couch sleeping and snuggeling (with her wild oudbursts every now and then ofcourse haha) 😂😂
Ribotto Studio - They slow down the older they get. My cat passed 7yo and he became more cuddly. Now he's past 10yo , we communicate so much better and he's still becoming more cuddly. Although he still has his zoomy moments.
Meanwhile mine's 4 and still nuts. Just less nuts..ish..
Cats have the same emotions at people, teenage years they'll be a little rowdy, as they get older they mature. They can even get dementia like people. They really are like smol people and I love them
I basically can't stand cats from "just starting to be able to jump on things" age til after 2 years. :P Of course I still love them, but that ornery stage is not my favorite, because I'm a quiet person and not into destructobots.
But without fail, every cat I've had has calmed down by about 2 and been totally awesome.
So basically Hannah and Ella are going to get 4 more cats. Or maybe just a 3rd. Either way, so looking forward to that.

I knew nothing about Jackson Galaxy. I just know about his line of toys at Petsmart. I used to work there and they were some of our best selling cat toys. Everyone who bought them swore by them because they were perfectly designed and engaging. I love the cat fishing poles. My cat goes NUTS for hers. If she hears the wire on it make a noise she comes running all wide eyed.

I bought my cat-in-law the stuffed iguana from Jackson's collection.
It's her favorite thing. She hunts it,kills it, and then naps with it,her little paws wrapped around it lovingly 😍

The only reason we have two cats is because our male cat adopted a kitten. We took in a pregnant stray, found homes for all the kittens and the mama. After two weeks, one of the kittens was brought back while the people who adopted her had some home renovations done. It was supposed to be one week. They never came back and our male cat fell in love with this little female kitten. He took to playing with her, cuddling with her, cleaning her.... He's now 2 and 1/2, she's now 1 and 1/2. They are still best friends and will flip out if we shut a door and they aren't on the same side of it.

MarvelousSandstone My black cat Arwen constantly just watches me. I’ll look up and she’s just sitting there staring. And because she’s so dark, sometimes I don’t see her for a minute. Then I realize she’s been there the whole time. 😳 It’s eerie! She also used to stalk me all the time. She never jumped on me, but would stop short and sometimes pat me on the arm or whatever, then dart away, like tag. But then again, she also plays fetch with toys.

@@SunflowerSpotlight we also have a black cat who lives with my mom. He likes to walk as slowly as possible around the apartment and loves to go even slower in the dark. My mother has almost kicked him a lot over the last 10 years he lives with her now but I can hear him walk around and avoid him. His back claws hang out a tiny bit more that they should so they make tiny Velcro sounds when he is walking on the carpet my mother is hard of hearing and can't hear this though. The age difference between Teddy the black boy and our girl is 7 years and they get along just fine but never cuddle.
I also have two Bengals and especially my youngest boy just acts like a big kitten even though is turns 3 in a few months and is a 5.6kg chunk. The other Bengal is super calm and doesn't give a fuck about most things even though he is only 9 months older than the other one. As I said every cat just has their own personality and some are chilled out while others are big kids that always want attention and action.
As someone who has been training my own cats for years [I've owned cats for ~13], managing mild to more complicated behavioral issues (like food guarding and territorialism) - Jackson is right. Cats need enriched conditions and a lot of stimulation. Having a nearly senior cat paired with one quite young is hard to handle because their energy levels are really different. Given the more urban area you're in, I would recommend a pet stroller and/or light walking jacket over that harness to help prevent Charles from slipping out and to hide somewhere if he gets scared suddenly. I wrote an article for my friends who needed one on leash and harness training that included figures and safety options. It really helped them. One also invested in a stroller too. 😂
Just takes some time. I take mine to a pet friendly cafe and arboretums, nature preserves, long romps in our fenced in yard.
When you can't go outside, try playing those hour long videos on UA-cam for cats. They're made from a cat's low ground perspective and usually they're of birds and squirrels and insects. My youngest loves those. And touch screen games for cats. They're nice alternatives for a rainy or busy day or evening. Gotta get that stim!
Adventurecats.org and the ASPCA website have some great training resouces and articles backed by research for behavioral modification and walking. For other things (target training and tricks), there are kits and videos online. Only use positive reinforcement. ASPCA also has this amazing search engine for toxic and nontoxic plants, if you need it.
Trick training doubles as play and bonding! My tiny girl can jump through small hoops, give high fives, sit, twirl left and right 360, and more. Super fun. You might love doing it.

TheLady my cats are indoor/outdoor cats but my kitten will play for hours with balled up receipts and even plays fetch with me
@@LisaElevateDJ It's always great when they play fetch! My kitty Guenevere does sometimes too. With tiny mousies. A friend of mine had a cat who was obsessed with an old leather glove. She carried it around everywhere and would play fetch with it. It was HER GLOVE.
TheLady how do i get my one and a half year old to stop peeing on my couch Ive literally done everything we sleep on it now that seems to have helped a ton.
Yes I’ve washed it with a $300 machine and enzyme based soap lol its clean and fresh and smells like me and baby. Sister from same litter has no cares in the world lol shes fine with anything.

my cat was getting destructive, chewing anything he could reach, biting people etc... we now take him outdoors for walks in one of those animal purses for chihuahuas, he loves it and it really curbed his biting.

Feeding raw can be excellent for cats as they are obligate carnivores! Ive heard stories of cats with chronic heath issues (nothing extreme but like UTIs and stuff) that dminished greatly/disappeared with it. IM not gonna make claims but it's worth a try.
@@Roxixane456 my little orange nerd was abandoned after her owner died years ago. She had a lot of fur and itching issues, and I put her on raw novel protein. She's a different cat; full of energy when she's not sleeping, full, gorgeous coat, and acts a little primal and nutty sometimes. :)
My cat was obese with chronic bladder crystals and uti/kidney issues and I think (THINK) he was pre-diabetic. I threw out the kibble (it was vet recommended science diet 🙄) and switched him to canned. Still wasn't losing weight, still had an insatiable appetite despite giving him recommended portions. Found a page on Facebook about raw feeding, learned, and switched over to a homemade prey model raw diet. Took less than 6 months to lose all the weight he needed (5-7 lbs), he wasn't trying to bite my arm off all day in hunger, he stopped shedding all year round (now its only twice a year, a few months a piece), his breath doesn't stink, he has more energy. I thought I was going to have to put him down at age 12. He's now 17 and my vet can hardly believe it. His blood work is immaculate. And the food I make him ends up being 37¢ a day because I make it myself thanks to a calculator provided by the Facebook page I talked about (to ensure the diet was balanced and had all the necessary things). He's seventeen but he's always going to be my baby.
2 of my favorite people together here! I love it! I owe Jackson for giving me the skills and knowledge to becoming a better cat guardian. This year I decided to become a foster. So far I have fostered a Mama and her 5 kittens, all of which were on death row in Alabama. Then my vet called with a kitten someone had found in the middle of the street. He's still pretty feral, but slowly he is coming out of his shell. Then my vet had 2 more kittens who were found in an air conditioning unit. The men who found her think their Mama was hit by a car. Anyway, they all give me great joy. My original fosters are solid black, and for some reason, black cats are hard to find homes for. Please put the word out that black cats are smart and sweet and rather cool! One even loves to play fetch! Thanks both of you for making the world a better place.
My cat went from sociopath of a cat (Litterally impossible to work with when he was in a play mood) to a heavenlly couch potato in the span of his fist year, now he just layes there, lol!
Is anyone else have a cat who is kinda old (5+) and still have as much energy as Charles has? Cause mine just turned 7 years old and he is just like a kitten. He plays, runs, jumps, explores, climbs, hide and wait until I walk close by to jump on my feet or simply chose to chase me around. I often open my door so he can go in the hallway to run back and forth for AT LEAST 45 minutes. But he is still very excited afterward. I want him to calm down a bit XD
Spooky Spooks I had a cat that was 2 that had way less energy than my roommate's 18 year old cat that would try to get my lazy baby to play all the time. It was such a funny role reversal to see this ancient matron pouncing on a kitten.
Sometimes it depends on the breed, some breeds are more energetic than others. And a lot of it really depends on the specific cats personality and the type of energy it gets in the house. An over active cat could mean that it is stressed though. Normally a happy cat is a chill cat, but not always, he could be happy and hyper lol.

They’re smart enough to know that they won’t get any attention when no one is home.
He’s a little socialite feeding off the attitudes around him. He has an owner who spoils him, and a sister who is really fun to annoy. When there is no one and nothing there to get him going, and she’s just sitting there being boring, his options are limited. He probably takes the opportunity to catch up on some ZZZs, because since she works from home, she’s a consistent outlet for his energy - and his sister represents a goal to aim his energy at once it gets rolling. He’s like the kid that’s super quiet at home and turns into a class clown at school.
I randomly watched a episode from my car from hell! After a couple years since I last saw one! How funny 😊. I bought a cat tree yesterday for my new two kitten babies remembering his tips for a happy cat life 😊

My cat has a weird habit where she’ll always want me to pet her as she eats in the same way she’ll bring me presents and meow for me to eat it like how I am with her giving her love as she eats. She’s so thoughtful. But by no means am I ever eating fresh kill she brings ickkk XD

I LOVE Jackson and the fact he actually said to you that you are the perfect Cat Protege is HUGE. I had to switch over to a much healthier easy digestible diet for my feral in food kitty. She is 13 now so a senior citizen. Shhh When I told her that she looked at me as if she was saying "WHAT! No human slave YOU are a senior Citizen biatch!" I swear kids now days they got no respect for their parents. LOL

I currently have an 11-year-old kitten lol. She's constantly running, jumping, playing and she loves travel. My other cats do too.
Yassss I love this content! My husband and I currently have 17 cats under our roof, and that waxes and wanes constantly because we foster and rescue feral cats and their kittens. Unadoptable ones, ones that remain feral, or ones that choose to domesticate for solely us stay with us as permanent residents. And craziest of all is we're all living currently in a ~30 foot camper/travel trailer to be near my husband's contract work. Yes, they all get along fine [no not 100% of the time as Jackson said lol], Yes it actually is quite enough space for them. If any singular one wants space, they have NO trouble finding it. If they don't, they just pile up together in their bunk [yes, they have their own bunk bed. No we don't spoil them at all with it having its own entire window :P]

Also, man you have Sphynx, they are boundless balls of energy and if you don't just vent it out, they of course destroy your stuff. I also learnt that from Jackson Galaxy on the very many episodes of "My Cat from Hell" that the owners got a Sphynx thinking they'd be like other cats.
Also, by no means are you over spoiling your cats! You have to remember that these cats if they were outside would have an entire world to mess around it, so by having as many toys and enriching places inside you are making the inside of your home more interesting than outside!

Love this guy. His videos helped me raise FIVE feral cats to be loving sweethearts, including a one year old adult. He is the bomb.
I grow up with dogs and were never a big fan of cats but after watching some episodes of Jackson’s show I learned how to interact with them and that helped me make some cat friends 🙂

Jackson Galaxy's videos make me appreciate my cat more. I wasn't planning on getting an animal. My cat Tigger she died in February 2017. But February 2019 a few days ago, I fell in love with a kitten & adopted him. I think more ppl need to listen to Jackson when he says u need to compromise & I have already been de-cluttering my home, I've donated some boxes & threw away alot, my garbage outside is full to the top & it usually takes me about a month lol & my best friend (Roger) helped me out & rearrange my living room & so on... Yes I still have more work to do.
Also I been putting sticky tape in some areas & some on paper plates so I can move them around where ever I need to.

I had to look after four cats for a couple of weeks, and I only had a long shoe lace to play with them. By the 3rd day as I woke up and left my room they were all waiting for me in the immediate hallway, and one of them had the shoe lace in it's mouth waiting for another action packed day of combat. After that I woke up every morning with them in my room.
On the bed, the chair, the radiator, and they were completely silent before I woke. They were really good company and it blew me away just how different all their various personalitys were.

It was funny seeing her shocked her cat was walking. My kitten did that to me. Like he didn't reject the harness, he was chill with it. He didn't really wanna 'walk' and then one day, boom, walked a whole block.

OMG, this has got to be the BEST of the Jackson Galaxy videos I've seen! You are just too cute! I'm going through the same thing with my cats...one is 8 and I just got another who is about 2 and does the same lick, lick, BITE THE NECK and FIGHT move. My older cat will tolerate it until the younger one sinks teeth into neck and then he screams and I come save him. Then they go to sleep holding paws. Cats.

I have a cat named Sherlock who does exactly what your cat does! He knocks stuff over, is into things, is a little pain in the butt when I'm home AND when I'm trying to sleep. But when I'm gone for work, he's fine. He's almost 2 so maybe he'll mellow out soon.... mommy hopes! His sister Luna is a little angel though!
