I pull over and the policemen asks me what I was doing at the light back there. I ask him what does he mean? He asks me about my horn? I inform him that the car ahead was not moving when the light turned green. He says "Well up here we're a little more polite than that. You need to watch yourself". After that I knew that Canadians take their politeness seriously.

You guys are fun! Way before my dad passed away, we used to go to Montreal for a few days to a week to see the Canadian Grand Prix. I loved the trips. Yes, even though we were US citizens, we brought our passports with us and that was in the 80s and 90s. Canada felt like a mix of Europe and a much more polite and dignified type of people than in the states. That's not saying that everyone and every place were like that. However, it was nice seeing a clean major city. The metro was impressive. It was quiet and clean and not scary. I loved old Montreal. It really felt like Europe. I have relatives in Toronto (the capital, hahaha!) and hope to go there someday, but Montreal will always be in my heart. In the meantime, it's fun to see you guys and to hear what you have to say, eh?
Thanks for that great story Lewis! Yeah ya gotta come check out Toronto where Ryan and I are from. But I love Montreal a lot to. And Ryan is a big car guy. Maybe come to Toronto for the Indy! -Adam
As a native Montrealer, I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed your trips here! We hope you will visit us again! Our family has also travelled quite a lot throughout the US for both work and pleasure and have always enjoyed the interesting local sights and appreciated your hospitality (yes, even in NYC)!
If you want a feeling of old Europe then Québec City is a must see ... believe me you will not be disapointed. It's the oldest city in North America and it's also the most pittoresque and beautiful, it's like going back in time.
What is the equivalent of racism on Canadian accents? we don't have those accents but we do say some of them in jest. Not the norm but we still think it's "kinda" funny.
I understand your point about Tim Hortons. Some things are home grown, and people think about it as they might a family business. To have Wendy's buy it is kind of a slap in the face for all those years of community support. For us here in the States, a rough equivalent might be when Renault bought American Motors. It just felt wrong.
This was actually good to know. Not that Canada is on my bucket list, so I’m not going there anytime soon, but “Knowledge is Power,” and I’m a very powerful guy
Hockey is our winter sport officially, lacrosse is our summer sport. Windows kept falling out of the high-rise development down on the Lakeshore... pretty funny unless you own one or happen to be walking underneath. Love the videos. Was a Stouffville boy, kinda feels like being back home. Thanks.
I would say the video is pretty accurate. Rush is the greatest rock trio ever, Tim Hortons is awesome, Toronto does a fantastic food, and never ever mess with the customer agents. They pull you over and tear your car apart and not put it back together, true statement.
I'm a Canadian, pretty much everyone I know agrees that Tim Hortons isn't really good anymore, it used to be great, but the quality has gone down over the years. If you come to Canada and trash talk against Tim Hortons, we're probably gonna nod in agreement. That's in Québec though.
Same. And before I moved from Alberta to Ontario, I'd never once heard anyone refer to it as "Timmy's". I think it's an eastern thing. Still sounds stupid to me.
Would love for you guys to visit south Louisiana (areas in and around Lafayette Louisiana), home of Cajuns. Our ancestors were Acadians originally from the area of Nova Scotia area. Our summers are horrible for heat and humidity but our winters are mild. Great food and plenty of festivals when COVID has passed.
I spent time in Lafayette so I could visit Avery Island and the Tabasco store. Awesome people but honestly I can say the same for any State that I've visited. I find that Americans are typically as friendly as we Canadians are. Even more so than Torontonians eh?

Back when I was a kid in Quebec during the 1980s, Dunkin' Donuts were the ubiquitous doughnut chain. Timmies only expanded into Quebec during the 1990s and by the late 2000's, Timmies were just as common as elsewhere in Canada and Dunkin's were pretty much dead in the province.
I grew up in the northeastern section of PA...near the Poconos and people would say we sounded like we were from Canada....parts of Michigan outside of Detroit really sound Canadian!!
I'm a Canadian nurse and worked in NC for 20 years. People there used to always ask me if I was from West Virginia. Something about the way I said "about" lol
I'm from Northwestern Pa and people have told me and my family that we have an accent. I guess it's called a PA accent. Lol. I don't hear it though. Lol.
If you want good cheap coffee in Canada, go to McDonald's. When Timmie's was sold (again), the new owners stopped using the original Tim Horton's roasting company and McDonald's Canada walked right in and made a deal.
The accents are regional. If you live in my neck o' the woods, cigarettes are darts, some of us do say aboot but not all the time and it's tongue in cheek. Letterkenny the TV show is pretty accurate to describe Listowel and SW Ontario. Those slang terms are not used by people in the cities. Just in the country. Rush is a no go. You love Rush or you shut up. lol
Tim Horton was my favorite hockey player. I remember seeing him play a game where someone on the other team tried to fight him. Tim grabbed him and then pinned him on the ice. The guy got 4 minutes for fighting and Horton wasn't awarded a penalty. It was a sad day that he died on his way back to Buffalo after he got the second star after the Sabres beat the Leafs in Toronto.
I stil remember being just outside Toronto about early 2000s when Krispy Kreme opened...I took my nephews and we made the run..got to the store..the lineS wrapped around the outside like 4 deep and people were waiting from that morning!!!..the drive-thru was about 100 cars and was about a 3 hour wait...I decided to walk in the main entrance....the cheek of me! I was ushered out and told I just cant walk in....The experience was funny for me, who sets his watch on the 'red light' at my local Krispy Kreme..we left and went to Timmys....never followed up on how Krispy Kreme did in Canada after that.
I always laugh when i go down to florida during spring break in march. Americans are walking around with sweaters and tuques and im there in shorts and sandals going swimming
Unless those Americans reside in border states. I'm from Michigan and got odd stares wearing shorts in Vegas in February. It was 50°F (10°C) and I'd flown out of a foot of snow back home.

We have a "Path" in NJ. Its called the Hoboken Path. Its a Terminal or Transit Hub which connects all points in NJ through Hoboken to Lower Manhattan (World Trade Center).
I live about an hour south of the border, we use to have several Tim Horton's across North Dakota and Minnesota, they all ended up closing after only a year or two in operation.
Guys, Love your channel. I came across a quick and accurate way to convert Celcius temperatures to Fahrenheit for your American viewers. Here 'tis: (1) Take the Celsius temp and double it. (2) Subtract 10% of that new number. (Loosely. You can round up or down & drop anything after the decimal.) (3) Add 32 (because you're going onto the Fahrenheit scale). For example: 18, doubled is 36, less 10% (3 or 4) is 33 or 32, plus 32 is 65 or 64 F. Because the human body can't tell the difference between 64 and 65 F., it shows that the Fahrenheit scale has too many degrees and the Celsius scale is more useful for most things.
i think our accents would give us away not calling tim horton's tim horton's hahaha :P i would love to visit Canada but i'm poor and disabled making travel nearly impossible but its cool to see shows like yours.
Even though they aren't as popular as Tim Horton's, we've had plenty of Dunkin Donuts in Canada. We had one in my little town of Tracadie NB. It went out of business in the early 90s. I think that's the deal with Dunkin, they just went out of business in Canada as Timmies got their meteoric rise to stardom, which was all pre-2000s.
The part about people moving to Canada because of the election was so true 😂😂, great video guys. Can’t wait for covid to be over so I can visit Canada.
I was so excited about 4 years ago we in Minnesota got some Tim Hortons. 3 locations in Minneapolis. But they struggled. And after about 2 years of trying, they all shut down at once.
I see Ontario as the Cali of Canada. The one who's leading the nation but in this sense of developments, innovation and immigration. Let's not also forget being the most populated, and probably having the rest of the country blaming them for national problems and high taxes. lol.
And i see Ontario in California 😂😂😂 and it's weird cause when you look at it like this... Ontario, Ca, the Ca could be for Canada instead of California 😂
I dont like Timmies coffee it has a nicotine taste to it but their sandwiches are awesome. Also Maritimes and Western Canada are not the same as Ontario. Quebec is also different. Even Western Canada has the flatlands and BC they are also different.
Tim Horton's is owned by Burger King now, and they became a Canadian company on paper, and used the Timmies purchase to do that. So they are owned by an American corporation, but that corporation is Canadian on paper. There was a big backlash against BK in the USA for doing this. It was 2017 or 2018 IIRC. And Timmies used to also be owned by Wendy's in the 80's and 90's but were somehow able to go independent again (Canadian owned) until the BK takeover.
YES!!! Once Tim’s sold out to outside interests, I actually found the quality of the products went down. The coffee didn’t taste as good. I don’t know if they messed with the recipe, or what but it was NEVER THE SAME. Tell me it wasn’t just me. Did anyone else notice this?
I worked with a former employee, and when Burger King sold out to RBI they stopped each location making their own donuts. Now they make them at a central location, flash freeze them, and then just finish them up at the store. They all taste like gasoline to me now.
The same thing happened when Fairmont bought CP hotels. My mother worked at the Chateau Frontenac for many years and whenever she had to stay the weekend as director on duty, I'd go keep her company. We went there during a break between our sixth and seventh pandemic wave, and it was so bad it was heartbreaking. Service was terrible, redecoration was blingy and gaudy, and everything was outrageously expensive. I felt like the American owners were treating us like captive consumers rather than hotel guests. Like they're going "now that we've got them in one of our rooms, how can we fleece them?" Instead of "how can we give them a wonderful stay to justify the price of the room, so they want to come back and give us good reviews?" I feel like the American way is to make as much money off you as possible. Period. Companies like Tim's and Canadian Pacific hotels had a certain Canadian pride to them, representing our country and serving our communities. Americans don't care about that, on top of their capitalism being more extreme than ours, they're not Canadian, this isn't their country or communities.
@@michellesheaff3779 oh no… I didn’t know out of country buyers owned Chateau Frontenac/CP hotels! That breaks my heart. Those are our country’s “castles”, our heritage, aren’t they? You are right, there is something inherently real about Canadians- as -business owners. I feel that - money at all costs - way of seeing people as consumers. It feels so pushy and … not Canadian.
i love that Canadian border patrol tv show they are not messing around! if you get caught with a pocket knife they will arrest you, which would be hard to remember bcz most of us carry one not for self defense but in case we need to cut something or need a screw driver. etc. even as a woman i have one in my purse. anyway they are not messing around!
I've heard it called "Hortons" in Nova Scotia but it seems like it's "Tim's" in the other provinces and in Michigan it's "Timmy Hoes." Their coffee is okay but their donuts taste like chemicals.
Well....Tim Horton did play with Buffalo Sabres for a spell. So, Timmy's is big in WNY also. Grand Island native and I row at St.Cats and Welland. I won CIRC at Mississauga 2x in my age category. Happy I found u! Just subscribed and got a USEh tee. Good day eh? 🤘💯‼️😎😂🤣
Hope you guys will be able to see the Blue Jays play in Toronto soon. I’m old enough to remember when the Blue Jays played at Sky Dome…although I’m a Yankees fan.
I've always wondered what Canadians think of Terence & Philip from South Park. Do they find them funny or offensive? Shout out to our neighbours in the great white north! 🇨🇦
Western Canadian here... I don't get the 'Timmy's' thing. DEFINATELY an Ontario thing - and the coffee is nothing special. But of course, if it's a Toronto thing it's presumed to be universally Canadian. All that said, Toronto IS a fantastic world-class city - far better theatre and museums than almost anywhere else, and the people are far friendlier than in Vancouver. If only they didn't have unbearable weather for 8 months of the year. TOO hot and TOO humid in the summer and fuck Ontario winters!
There are certainly people who don't care for Timmies, but there's 9 of them, just in Chilliwack where I live, and they're always busy. I happen to like their coffee, but my presence is for Folgers Black Silk. To each their own, I say.
Rush hour(s) from Toronto all the way to to Hamilton makes Los Angeles seem free-flowing. And BTW, Timmy’s is not all US owned. The International Holding Company that includes Timmy’s is 32% owned by a Brazilian investment firm.
We here out in the West don't mind if you want to start saying it now that you've heard we're doing it ;-p #nitimmiesTuesdays ua-cam.com/video/Tsmnm_IyN8k/v-deo.html

After watching that video I started to noticed your accent when you said "about", "house", "outside" lol. Amazing video guys!!!
Thank you! :) -Adam
What is the equivalent of racism on Canadian accents? we don't have those accents but we do say some of them in jest. Not the norm but we still think it's "kinda" funny.
Tim Hortons was bought by Burger King but ironically they're both owned by a Brazilian company, 3G Capital Investments.
That’s why Timmies is going downhill.
NO, Tim Hortons was bought by Wendy's.
I understand your point about Tim Hortons. Some things are home grown, and people think about it as they might a family business. To have Wendy's buy it is kind of a slap in the face for all those years of community support. For us here in the States, a rough equivalent might be when Renault bought American Motors. It just felt wrong.
Yeah exactly! For something that identifies with a culture so clearly it's almost a must that it remain owned by that country. -Adam
I think Wendy's sold Timmy's to Burger King a few years back.
This was actually good to know. Not that Canada is on my bucket list, so I’m not going there anytime soon, but “Knowledge is Power,” and I’m a very powerful guy
I knew an Italian guy who called it Timmy Hortinos, I was calling it that for a while, it's catchy lol
Hockey is our winter sport officially, lacrosse is our summer sport. Windows kept falling out of the high-rise development down on the Lakeshore... pretty funny unless you own one or happen to be walking underneath. Love the videos. Was a Stouffville boy, kinda feels like being back home. Thanks.
Ahhhhh yes thanks for that clarification! -Adam
I would say the video is pretty accurate. Rush is the greatest rock trio ever, Tim Hortons is awesome, Toronto does a fantastic food, and never ever mess with the customer agents. They pull you over and tear your car apart and not put it back together, true statement.
Yeah ... and leave your guns at home, we are a lot stricter about those in Canada.
That 2nd Amendment thing is not recognized in Canada.
I'm a Canadian, pretty much everyone I know agrees that Tim Hortons isn't really good anymore, it used to be great, but the quality has gone down over the years. If you come to Canada and trash talk against Tim Hortons, we're probably gonna nod in agreement. That's in Québec though.
Same in BC
Same in the Prairies.
Yeah it isn't really Canadian anymore. Still a great donut 😊
same in NB, went to shit the second they sold it to an American, go figure.
Same. And before I moved from Alberta to Ontario, I'd never once heard anyone refer to it as "Timmy's". I think it's an eastern thing. Still sounds stupid to me.
Love Toronto's PATH Underground. Timmy's is awesome. Rush and John Candy are national treasures of Canada.
🙌
Don't forget Mike Myers and Jim Carrey
Would love for you guys to visit south Louisiana (areas in and around Lafayette Louisiana), home of Cajuns. Our ancestors were Acadians originally from the area of Nova Scotia area. Our summers are horrible for heat and humidity but our winters are mild. Great food and plenty of festivals when COVID has passed.
Maybe one day! Can't wait to travel again :) -Adam
I’m one Canadian that loves Louisiana! Honestly, the people are like Canadians but with southern accents and warmer weather! ❤️
@@flotaylor8170 our summer is as harsh as your winter.
I spent time in Lafayette so I could visit Avery Island and the Tabasco store. Awesome people but honestly I can say the same for any State that I've visited. I find that Americans are typically as friendly as we Canadians are. Even more so than Torontonians eh?
@@billpemberton3982 I thought Toronto was basically the neat version of NYC with nicer people?
Canada isn’t the only place Hollywood makes fun of with exaggerated accents. They make fun of other areas of USA with exaggerated accents.
I visited Victoria B.C. a few years ago, LOVED it! Want the long, but I saw Craigderoch castle & Hatley Castle (military college now?) Nice people, nice atmosphere.
if anyone says anything bad about timmys we all perk our head up like a deer in headlights knowing something's wrong in 10k radius lmfao
You men are the best I love hearing you talk I think laughing at oneself is the best therapy someday I will come to Canada I want to because of this video and both of your inputs
Awe thank you thats awesome to hear :) -Adam
They are called donut holes. Only Dunkin Donuts calls them munchkins.
Ahhhhh thanks! -Adam
Timbits. Accept no substitutes.
But we’re so grateful you guys have given us T Ho’s!! That’s how we call “Timmys” in the Midwest
😆
"T Ho's" , lol from Toronto.
True ... I'm also a quebecer and Dunkin Donuts are now very rare.
@@vickiharrington8870 same think...about....you guys...eh.....yah
I'm from Northwestern Pa and people have told me and my family that we have an accent. I guess it's called a PA accent. Lol. I don't hear it though. Lol.
There are worse things in life... consider yourself blessed !
Toronto... "horrible horrible winters!" Haha thank you for making this NBer laugh
Around me, we often call Tim Horton's "Timmy Ho's".
Oh for sure bud!
It's the same here in Sweden with Stockholm, everyone in Stockholm looks down on people outside of Stockholm.
Switched my coffee supply from Timmies to Rotten Ronnies quite a while ago. Timmies coffee aint what it used to be.
Very surprised they didn't mention the hip!
This is the greatest channel on UA-cam in my opinion. Belly laughs for days! Thank you gentlemen!
You love Rush or you shut up. lol
they forgot to mention cannabis laws
Tim Horton was my favorite hockey player. I remember seeing him play a game where someone on the other team tried to fight him. Tim grabbed him and then pinned him on the ice. The guy got 4 minutes for fighting and Horton wasn't awarded a penalty. It was a sad day that he died on his way back to Buffalo after he got the second star after the Sabres beat the Leafs in Toronto.
Yeah such a tragedy eh. - Adam
😂 yeah me too -Adam
Hahaha ... so true!
Unless those Americans reside in border states. I'm from Michigan and got odd stares wearing shorts in Vegas in February. It was 50°F (10°C) and I'd flown out of a foot of snow back home.
Mantis Lake im talking about just in florida i didn't mention anywhere else
@@Whitewolf1827 - sorry, wasn't aware of the state stipulation
I call my cousin Timbit because his mom is Canadian and they love Tim hortons ☺️👍🏾 you guys are my favorite UA-cam channel I love all your stuff . Hopefully I can actually visit Canada one day
Nothing more Canadian than two boys drinking beers and watching videos...only thing missing is a bbq!
Thank you!
i think our accents would give us away not calling tim horton's tim horton's hahaha :P i would love to visit Canada but i'm poor and disabled making travel nearly impossible but its cool to see shows like yours.
I don’t know anything about Canada BUT I am a proud member of the RUSH Army! ❤️
The Timmies here in WV lasted two years! Now it is a bank!
Buddy with the beard has a laugh super similar to Seth Rogen and that alone had me giggling pretty good here
The part about people moving to Canada because of the election was so true 😂😂, great video guys. Can’t wait for covid to be over so I can visit Canada.
No it’s not. People say they’re going to move here and they never do because it’s just an empty baseless threat.
It's really hard to legally move to Canada, anyway.
Montreal's night life put's Torontos to shame lol
They forgot don't get drunk at a Canadians Bruins game and than try to French Kiss a police dog.
lol say what......
Let's not also forget being the most populated, and probably having the rest of the country blaming them for national problems and high taxes. lol.
I see BC as the Cali of Canada... Ontario is the New York State of Canada for me, haha
@Al Tee Ottawa
And i see Ontario in California 😂😂😂 and it's weird cause when you look at it like this... Ontario, Ca, the Ca could be for Canada instead of California 😂
You nailed it.
Never try to take your weed back over the border.
I dont like Timmies coffee it has a nicotine taste to it but their sandwiches are awesome. Also Maritimes and Western Canada are not the same as Ontario. Quebec is also different. Even Western Canada has the flatlands and BC they are also different.
There are a lot of Tim Hortons in New York, mainly western New York in cities like Buffalo where a lot Canadians live.
Same in Detroit MI
Tim Horton's is owned by Burger King now, and they became a Canadian company on paper, and used the Timmies purchase to do that. So they are owned by an American corporation, but that corporation is Canadian on paper. There was a big backlash against BK in the USA for doing this. It was 2017 or 2018 IIRC.
And Timmies used to also be owned by Wendy's in the 80's and 90's but were somehow able to go independent again (Canadian owned) until the BK takeover.
I forgot to add... BK became Canadian on paper because of our much lower business tax up here. That's why Americans were so pissed.
Thanks for the background! -Adam
@@JeffWaynee Tim Hortons and BK are owned by Restaurant Brands International. RBI is majority owned by 3G Capital which is a Brazilian based company.
Like they're going "now that we've got them in one of our rooms, how can we fleece them?" Instead of "how can we give them a wonderful stay to justify the price of the room, so they want to come back and give us good reviews?"
I feel like the American way is to make as much money off you as possible.
😂
Had no idea Tim Horton's sold oot.
😂
Burger King bought it
Timmies is awful. I am not a fan. Go ahead and tear them a new one and I won’t be offended in the least!!

I've always wondered what Canadians think of Terence & Philip from South Park. Do they find them funny or offensive? Shout out to our neighbours in the great white north! 🇨🇦
South Park is hilarious
Agreed 💯!! South Park is definitely hilarious. 👌🏽
Love South Park!
Timmy’s sold out to my hometown 😉 We don’t have a Dunkins either.
You raise a lot of good points. haha - Adam
Yes thanks for clarifying :). All I know it’s still not 100% Canadian! -Adam
I always say Tim Hortons, never Timmies, and I'm Canadian, born and raised. No one in Newfoundland calls Tim Hortons Timmies.

Yeah, it varies a lot from province to province. Here we say Tim Horton's too. I had a friend once from Saskatchewan who called it 'Timmy Ho's' which I had never heard before and which sounded pretty weird to me.
When I went to Niagara falls, I was disappointed there was no Dunkin. Only Starbucks.
Yeah but the got a outback! The only one in Canada I think lol
