Richard has always been my favorite on TOH
I like Norm. He’s a Master Craftsman for sure. But they all know their stuff!
Man I LOVE mid-century modern! With all of the 'futuristic' details, these homes were a testament to what the future might bring. After seeing how the 'future' turned out I wish I COULD go BACK in time!!!
Agreed. I'm having a modern house in MD build and i love watching mid-century houses to get nifty ideas.
What a nice family. Seems like they are a great fit for the house.
The acoustic tiles needed to go but how could you not keep those square light fixtures!? That's M-C-M!
Wow, back to the roots of working on a simple house. I’ve been watching since the beginning with Bob and Norm. Thank you!
they all look like that at the beginning. it'll be 2500 ft minimum when they're done, and all luxe finishes.
The owners have a tall major surgery order. This should be interesting. Also, heating and cooling must be done differently in the Northeast. So, forced-air central heating is not a thing there?
Call me crazy but I love that green door. Hope they keep something in the design of it
I like how tom laughs and 1400 sq feet. My house is not even 1000😕😔
Why would you get rid of that beautiful fireplace? bring the stairs wrapping around the back of the fire place or anything else but knock it down.
Man wish I have the money to hiring them. Tom and Richard always wit the great info!👍🏼
I too have an appointment with a nap.
I did all the trim & doors on two working doctors ( surgeons) bout a 1 1/2 ago. Why on earth they or even these guys had kids is pretty shocking ? They had a nanny addition done by the GC so the nanny could raise the kids ?
That little boy stole my heart ! Everyday by the window waiting for me ! Great little guy !
Real busy street... Aw, the suburbs
That's unbelievable that they used to send rainwater through the sewer system...that's tens of thousands of gallons.
There are nearly 800 cities in the U.S that still used combined sewer systems. Mostly in the older East coast and Northeast states.
Wow Tommy's got it going on!
If you could redo the basement room but keep that comer shelf at 5:01 that would be great to put a lamp on.
Tom can’t wait to tear into this place. Lol.
Finally, an Indian family on TOH 😄😄
As soon as I hear demo I can’t wait to bring over the excavator
I love this program this old house I have copied a few of these to Do in my house
I have a feeling this is going to be more expensive and be a longer project than the NetZero house was.
Carbon neutral is a fantasy. It cannot be achieved with current engineering. Renewable energy is a myth.
@@bighands69 ??? off the grid houses literally exist and rely solely on solar power.
@@hijo5966
On an individual level it can be achieved but it will be expensive and if scaled to whole economy size it cannot work.
There is simply not enough copper on earth.
Love this
I am not sure why, but TOH new uploads do not appear in my video feed anymore.
Same here. Seems to be the only channel I've subscribed to that I no longer get notifications from.
Make sure you check their last project in Rhode Island, a net zero house, just powered by the sun.
Not sure what is going on with your notifications mine works. Try unsubscribing then hit subscribe button again along with the bell?
"It may not be our oldest house, but it is an old house"
That's surprisingly deep...
Am I the only one who likes the house pretty much as is?
Nice can’t wait
jeez. no fireplace. nuts
I thought this was comedians in cars getting coffee when I saw the classic car
If i may ask .... Why cant the house be stripped down....
Lol at everyone passing Tommy on the road
Viva la Stone dust - Roger
I lived through those, "car wars days" Ford, Chevrolet, and Chrysler were competing, and 1957 Coupe, Tommy drove up in, was not the most Popular. The 1957 Chevy Hardtop was the car of choice, as that 57 Chevy Tommy drove was called the Granny car because of the posts separating the frontside windows from those in the back, so that your old Grandmother would feel safe in driving. LOL
Wow, they love those wire rack shelves
i loved the house just as it was its hard too watch vintage being taken out of of a orginal home thats mid century
With the amount of stuff they're doing, they might as well just tear the whole house down and rebuild it from scratch 😂😂
tedskins2000 I think you missed the part where they said they're not allowed to tear down the house.
I've never seen Tommy smiling as much as when he was driving the 1957 Chevy.
I think Tom is a sensible guy, and that's why he drives a 21st century pickup truck
Brookline to Lexington?
I hope they don't put in granite coutertops. That ruins a house for me.
How is your Father, he is greatly missed.
Happy to see INDIAN Home Owner in This Old House!
I'm reminded of Pinter, on Seinfeld. And his parents trying to talk Jerry and the gang out of going to India. They refused to attend their own son's wedding because it was to be held there, lol.
We don't think much of this one. Taking some of the cool, midcentury features out and putting an enormous addition on (1400 feet is not small) isn't smart. It's just showing you have too much money.
I don't think this couple cares that much about midcentury architecture. They want a big house close to the hospital.
He's got beeper..Dr?
I'd love to know what the architect has been smoking........
In those old neighborhoods the architect has their hands tied. Sooooo many restrictions on what they can and can not do. She had to make the house look basically the same; she could make it just bigger.
These homeowners seem way less pretentious than the net-zero homeowners.
The difference between privileged white folks and hard working immigrants.
รถสวยเลย
Why does it say "ONE" on the side of the house? Is that the address?
"Hey man, what's your address?" "Uh....One."
Isn’t it normal to number the houses in a street starting with number one? At least this is how it is done in Germany.
Typically disposable American mentality. “Oh no, it wasn’t built yesterday, and it isn’t perfect; let’s demolish it and throw everything in the landfill and start over.”
Pssssh.
Why get rid of everything original? If you don't like the fireplace, or the bathroom, or the floors or the kitchen cabinets, or the lights, why not re-do a 1970's split entry house? In spite of this, I look forward to seeing your good work.
Interesting, but we're really butchering history here. This couple's money would have been better spent having a new home built to their specs on virgin land. Not butchering a 50s classic.
This should be a complete tear down.
Edit: Well forget that
👍✌️😎
I have been removing AND respraying popcorn ceilings since the 1970's. Holy crap asbestos removal what a RACKET FIFTY YEARS AND STILL NO MESOTHELIOMA. 🤷🏽♂️🙄😒🤦♂️😳🤢🤣
Hello from Ohio I don't agree with her I am not to have anyone tell me what I can and can't use or do to build a house with
Two doctors must be quite a budget ,how about some reality guys.
Thats not a mid century modern. Just a cheap 50's knock off. Zero architectural features. But I'm sure it will become one
What the hell do you think Mid-Century modern houses were? They were like this. FFS.
Idiot.
Saw this years ago. Ruined the design of that house imo
Is it just me or does anyone think these houses shown on this episode look ugly AF? No? well if it was up to me id tear down that house and rebuild one that has everything modern but still has that old vibe to it.
20:45 love how the guy was ready to swing the hammer from the get-go and Tom was just chilling with the crowbar
