    Out of the many folk dance that is still in practice from thousand of years in KOSAL region (Western Orissa)..Ghudku is a peculiar string instrument which produces a peculiar sound.This dance is performed mostly by the snake charmers community..The player works out rhythms by playing his fingers in strokes on a string. He dances with his lady partner and also sings. The dance of the lady is fast with swaying movements of legs, hips and the head. There are also exalted action in half-sitting position. Generally it is she who carries the show. The songs are of a special variety and are popularly known as Ghudka naach in which love and humour predominate. This dance is fast dying out. But it is being adopted by professional troupes and other groups of entertainers.
    Leaving apart the Koshali Language, the various types of exotic folk songs and dances which exist in the KOSHAL (western orissa) area give ample evidence of its speciality and originality. These songs and dances are not merely outbreak of emotions but finer elements of life and livings, scientifically fused into the rhythm of the percussion instruments of the region which spontaneously touches the heart; irrespective of caste, creed, sect, religion and time. Any human being who sincerely hears the music of the songs and dances, feels the vibration- in its body, heart and mind..
