I agree with you on the overuse of grief in thrillers. I think it particularly did not work here as the idea that someone’s response to their loved one dying during a dangerous climbing trip is do an even more dangerous climbing trip just feels really off.
I think the point was she was learning to face her ordinary fears (like death, connecting with people you can lose, etc.) by taking on her now biggest fear (of falling) and rediscovering the things she loves about life
The characters dangling from the top platform is a standard climbing daredevil move. It’s risky, but it serves a purpose, and does not diminish my sympathies for them.
@@wjzav1971 The purpose is to show these characters are daredevil climbers, and they're doing something that is typical of such climbers. It's like a signature move, it would be weird if it was absent. Like a kickboxer who never kicks.
Well, you basically said everything that I felt about this film. It wasn't the greatest thing ever, but I did thoroughly enjoy it. I wish the characters were not so cliche and at times unlikable, but my gripes with this one are minor. I would definitely watch this again. And I must say, I am very grateful that I was able to see it on the big screen. It's funny, because I had planned to see another movie that day, but it was not at the cinema that I went to, so I settled on fall, which was a film I had planned on seeing in theaters anyway, but just not on that particular occasion. And so I ended up watching a movie that I settled for and having a genuinely great theater experience. You are 100% correct. This is absolutely something to be seen on the biggest screen possible and it's a shame that it was never released in imax. Maybe it can get a re-release in a year or something for an anniversary and they can put it out in imax. That would be fun. Anyway, love your videos. Long time viewer. Keep up the good work! Happy Halloween!
This movie was thrilling. Kept me glued to my seat. Anxiety was high like when you're in the scariest rollercoaster ride. This definitely movie brings the fear and helplessness within you and make you like "don't look down".despite the bad VFX It still feels believable that you're at the top of the tower. Overall this movie servers it purposes. Not the best movie of the year but still one of the good movie of this year, Imo.
Here's the thing, no matter how bad the CGI was (and it was complete dog shit, even for a low budget flick), it's still gonna affect your brain. It's like with VR: the graphics aren't good but they still trick your mind into thinking it's real.
At one moment, when Becky falls of ladder, Hunter sustains her weight standing just on the platform , holding on to nothing, at this point they would have both fell and died.
She had both her feet planted against the pole in the center. Her likelihood of falling in that scene depends entirely on the strength of the pole plus her foot placement.
Some day, and that day may never come, we will see Film Brain grow a handlebar moustache and he'll be the most badass looking movie reviewer on UA-cam.
I was hooked by the trailer, i know there's a trope of say "dumb white people" n horror but this takes it to such a degree it's impossible not to shake your head in amusement. Add in the gimmick of this super-tower they're climbing and game on.
Mmm, NOPE, I felt my feet trying to absorb back into my body just hearing this description. And I know for a fact of friend of mine is gonna dare me to this the second she gets the chance.
I was just thinking… the new iphone comes standard with an sos feature that works everywhere. A major phone brand now has satellite capability. I wonder how long it takes for movies to write around that
17:25, I thought it was handled well, there wasn't a conflict, Hunter explained, Becky actually LISTENED, Hunter apologised, end of, over in 2 mins! That is one of the parts that impressed, there WASN'T an arteficial conflict, it was avoided. And you still spent a good minute after ranting about something that WASN'T there!
a great survival flick that also reminds me of Frozen or 47 meters down for a great recent shark movie ( neber enjoyed open water saga at all ) but carefull spoiler ahead //// we see that the drone can reach the dinner , so one thing came to my mind was just send messages and posts and strap the phone to the drone to get down on the ground or they could have blocked the red light with clothes hoping that employee of the dinner would have noticed it .////
The poster behind him is a thing where they take a movie, and each strip of color represents the dominant color of each scene. I'd love to know what movie that's for.
lol, If I was stuck on that tower, I would have been down 40 minutes later drinking coffee at home. No signal up! hmm, but signal is down! hmm. Rule 1. text messages go even when bars are almost zero but for this case. Just a few settings on the phone, create an S.O.S message with multiple contacts, take a t-shirt and wrap the phone, click the send button and throw it in the direction of the so called network. That phone should continue trying to send the help message till it gets delivered.
(SPOILERS) This is the solution as presented in the movie. Hunter sends a message on her phone, throwing it in her shoe and wrapped in a sock for some protection, but no one responds to it (it appears to have broken on impact). Later, after Hunter has died on the antenna, Becky puts the phone in her corpse with a message to her father, and drops it to the ground. This survives the impact and she is rescued. (There is technically an error in that the characters use iPhones, which do not automatically resend messages when they attain a signal, but this is a minor point).
@@FilmBrain Thanks :D just saw it. Am currently watching. Why throw it at the base tho! actually those towers have concret at the bottom. I thought that they were going to throw it maybe towards the RV. at least it would land on soft soil
I never understood complaining about the length of a movie. I personally always thought the longer the better, especially if you’re enjoying it. If you’re enjoying something you don’t want it to end right? Just me? 🧐
This is by far the scariest movie you will ever experience although the acting is 2/10 and the end rips you off to a point. Get ready for rockets where the sun don't shine.
Especially love it when people go on extremely dangerous ventures and tell NO-ONE where they are or what they are doing.
Reminds me of "Frozen". Not the charming Disney movie, the one where those skiers nearly freeze to death trapped in a chairlift.
Same
I know exactly what you mean.
I get it. It's also similar to Open Water.

Disney's Frozen would have been better if Olaf was torn apart by a pack of wolves.

Honestly a very fair critique.
Thanks
Thank you!
Am really loving where you're channel is heading!
just noticed ashens on your wall! good review!

excellent video!! i just found you in my recommended section and i thought it was a delightful watch :)
This movie looks awesome and pretty terrifying.
The cast looks awesome as well.
The blonde haired Hunter is completely 1 dimensional and extremely annoying.
Biggest problem, they never show how she gets down. Yes she gets the distress signal out, but how do the workers get up there to get her down.
I did make a veiled reference to this, but the review was too long. The ending is a bit abrupt.
Rescue chopper
They would've had to go in by helicopter as I don't think they could risk reconstructing a new ladder on such an old rusted tower
There’s actually a helicopter flying overhead near the end of the movie, so I believe that’s indicative of how they got her down.

Great little movie, really enjoyed it
How do you think this movie compares to Don’t Look Down?
It's certainly a better film, haha.
This whole movie felt like an episode of “I Shouldn’t Be Alive.”
The poster behind him is a thing where they take a movie, and each strip of color represents the dominant color of each scene. I'd love to know what movie that's for.
Well, that's my sponsor Movie Palette, and I actually identify what film it is in the ad spot at the end of the video: Terminator 2.

The Danger D thing bothered me bad because her name was Hunter
She did the channel to remember Dan, so that’s what the D stood for.
14:30 took the words right out of my mouth
Typed that in my review after I watched that
Hi matthew! This movie isn't playing near me. Were the reviews so bad that it was pulled from theaters or something?
It's got a 76% on Rotten Tomatoes so it's had healthy reviews.
In the US, this has been out since mid-August, so it might have left already in some areas. Came out in the UK on Friday.
If it's movies from the last 25 years, all of those moviepalette things will be black, orange, and blue.
Because _"gritty" visuals..._
They have movies across a number of eras. The Into the Spider-Verse one is especially pretty.

They do actually have black and white movies! I feel like that makes thing especially obscure, but if you wanted one...
