M-16 lacks firepower, and can't pierce a lot. Wheras AK-47 can easiliy penetrate a basic wall or jungle trees wood M-16 is closer from a rifle, AK-47 from a machinegun
Ak 47, is much cheaper, more reliable, can handle much better guerillar warfare, and any harsh condition for weaponry. The gun will still perfectly work even after beeing into salt water. It's made from only 4 parts, which make it really easy to maintain. M-16 may be more accurate, but what's the point of having a accurate gun that won't shoot a bullet because of bad enviironnement?
That's why Red Army kicked Hitler's 80% troops, and had the best MG ever made (AK-47), far better than M-16 And when i see USMC in war today, I wouldn't talk a lot
If it was cheaper but it couldn't hold any harsh envorennement such as jungle, mountains, snow, mud and so on, you really think AK-47 would be sold that much? Note that you said "new" M-16, which means he was late on his developpement compared to AK-47. In technology, there is sadly no 2nd place
@amdsoccer94 bury it in the sand, dig it up from the mud in the jungle, swim with it, let it rust for years, ..shake it off and fire. oh wait, only the AK will fire after that. the fact is that it's not as accurate is because it's designed to have free moving parts that don't require maintenance. this is why every kid in africa can fire the AK. yes, the m16 and scar are more accurate but i wouldn't be caught dead in the field with a weapon that jams, misfires and requires me to floss it everyday
