Intresting book, with Mid War monster (Part 1) retutning is okay. But I realy missing, like I guess some old hands too, some stuff the Matilda, Deacon, Bishop, Semovente 47mm, 3.7" AA gun. Okay some of them are available as community cards, but making them "offical" units again would be such an easy step. So I got some mixed feelings about this book to be honest.
Well I was frustrated with the revist to midwar when the books already existed. But the experimental stuff in this book now has me excited. 3" gun carrier? TOG 2? M6 Heavy Tank? Hellz yea.
Looking forward to getting our hands on it! Dont know that it will change my luck in games but who knows, shiny new book couldn’t hurt! Bad jokes aside, looks great, and love to see the return of mid war monsters and missing options. And at the price point its a great entry point alongside the new starters for players who are either just getting in or existing players wanting to expand!
I don't mind the 'fantasy' vehicles in Team Yankee but not sure i'm a fan of these appearing in Flames. This is a bit too 'world of tanks' for my liking (which is probably where these models came from).
That’s convenient to get a compilation, but it’s a real shame there were no revisions. We lost a lot of local players when V4 was released because many players found there were a lot of units (particularly the light armored vehicles) out of balance. Also, there are still units missing from V2 V3. Late War got some guys to return, but seeing some fixes would likely have gotten a bunch back.
Great video fellas can't wait to pick up this new book. I'm also very happy to say that I will be putting as many Mid-War MONSTERS on the table. Please keep up the good work.
Damn I was trying to resist getting into FOW although it’s been hard as I play Team Yankee but this video has done me, Sold a Tobruk boxset will have my name on it!
don't forget italian 75mm EPS rounds (HEAT with 120mm of penatration ~AT11) for the 75/18 and 75/34. the forces in Tunisia had acess to it (and 47mm EPS which supposedly allowed the 47mm to pen the sherman from the front, calculated to be ~97mm by a german as the orginal records were lost. so ~AT9)
Wow! I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on this book. Kinda wish the italians also got the M15/42 (Maybe a small upgrade sprue or something) to give an in between the M14/41 and P26/40 tank choice. Definently going to grab the Italian stuffs!
"Its got everything you need" for North Africa. Then it darn well better have Gurkhas :-). Even if its just in the form of a Command Card. You have TOG-IIs, Tiger-Ps, T-14, you better have Gurkhas doggone it. They were the finest troops the UK had in WWII, and not a single word about them in V4 yet.
That's what I was waiting for! I bought all the DAK and 8th Army stuff the last two months I could find. If only I had known! lol Will you do new production runs of all the MidWar models as plastic sets? I got one of the last Dianas available still made from metal and resin. I love the orcy look of that weapon!
Looking at the store, the new units look to be the same old resin and metal as they were before. Not sure if it's a new run or if they found some old stuff in a warehouse lol
Pre-ordered. Very much looking forward to running my Churchill 3" GCs and TOG 2*s again, thanks very much ! Btw, was that a closer from The Two Ronnies ?
What's the point of making Tiger(P) exactly the same stats as normal tiger? Considering P hull was used for production of Ferdinands (which is 16 armor) the tiger (P) should have at least 1-2 armor points more as the hull was more armored than the one in production variant of Tiger I and by a lot. Even if you consider the turret a weak point, the hull armor is substantially thicker!
@@dalet7609 Got an actual source for those values as they go right against what was published on the Tiger(P) by historians such as Jentz, Doyle and Spielberger.
@@Dreachon yes, the plate itself were the same thickness of 100mm which was the direct Hitler order. However the geometry of the plates in Tiger (P) was different and resulted in effectively thicker armor. The side armor however on the Tiger production variant was 60-80mm while tiger P had consistent 80mm on the sides. This is based on sources from NARA archives as well as the Bundesarchiv-Militararchiv.
@@TrissMerigold_VoidStaffPlease, don't go and say something as silly as that the side armour on the Tiger I ranged from 60 to 80mm while on the Porsche design it was only 80mm. That is nonsense and finds no support in the armour specifications of both tanks. Both tanks have an 80mm thick plate on the upper hull side with 60mm on the lower hull side but this also is protected by the tracks an roadwheels. This goes for both tanks, Henschel and Porsche. In terms of geometry the only part of the Tiger(P) that has any decent slope is the middle part of the hull, the upper hull plate covering the driver's and radio-operator's position has more or less the same angle as the Henschel design. And the lower hull front plate is only 80mm thick. And a 100mm plate angled at 30 degree from vertical doesn't give you a a relative 150mm plate, it only gives you a 115mm relative thickness.
Been waiting for this book eagerly and got it today. While happy with most of it still very upset they do not acknowledge the Matilda was part of the Afrikan campaign. I guess if it is not a plastic kit it was not used for the most part. They did have the Valentines though so guess I can retro fit in my Matilda's by point balancing, just replace Vals with them. Do not think I need to buy the cards again though. EDIT: Found cards for the Matildas on their web site.
We need another "Hobby league", maybe the best launch for V4 in our game group. "Mid Hobby League" could be awesome. As an italian player (Avanti Savoia!) I would like to see again some semovente 47/32, saharianas (maybe a new Raiding Aces rules?)...but also Matildas and Gurkhas. As FoW players, we want more tanks/troops/whatever...XD
Still not all of Hungary, Finnland and Romania out and available, but allready the next X books. Anyone who got Bagration Axis & Allies will feel a bit of unease. Id also love to see a rerelease of Soviet Hussars... But heh, new models is cool hm. Not cool, Battlefront,
I have been SO CONFUSED by the naming conventions used by your company - so much so that I've yet to purchase a book new at retail. "Red Banner", "Ghost Panzers", "Iron Cross", "Desert Rats", oops, now it's "Armoured Fist"? I have to use the Flames of War Wikipedia article to keep it straight!! Now that these individual books are going to be combined, I'm much more likely to purchase. Another gripe: shopping online, it is nearly impossible to figure out what version of a rulebook is being sold (i.e. 3rd edition vs. 4th edition). Had to get this off my chest. I guess you're trying to sell models AND books and that somehow is a factor, but it is so frustrating since I don't use your models (I play at 1/285th). Lastly, some of us want to play Early War. Will there ever be any support other than the 2017 booklet?
The Tiger P is a what if, same goes for the Tog 2s, T14s etc. Battlefront, mentioned they were never used. But they released it, for players to play in a inhistorical games. Kinda like Team Yankee.

Any words on what missing units might come back ? M3 GMC, Matildas, or maybe some plastic DAK infantry ?
I want matildas so bad
Can't wait, thanks Phil and Wanye

all of these vehicles are historical, none of them are made up.
@@VoidFish Will be interesting to see the evidence that they ever got to see battle. Prototypes (some not even fully functional) don't impress me.
I like the compilation idea but do we really need experimental tanks, I get those ones playing WOT, I don't see a need for them in FOW.

Wayne, I would advise you to get proper 9 hours sleep or some massage before filming. We love the hobby - you will have better ideas when rested.
Looks amazing. Sad face that there's no DAK StuGs but I'm excited to the see the Bison and 90mm Semovente.

Sounds fantastic! What about the famous DAK Stugs, British Matildas and Bishops, a few still really saw service mid war

No Stugs (only 2 anyway), Tillys, or Bishops (but they do get Priests).
Good that you all make this kind of video.
The "experimental" additions are a brilliant move, definitely sets this game apart from others and hopefully makes FoW more popular.
I can finally use my old midwar monster models for the British
I’m excited for the mid-war monsters coming back. I’m looking forward to playing some what if’s with my gaming group.

No ANZACS, or just not mentioned?
in the cards like in the previous V4 books ?

No desert rats v4 book inculed

Where are the french ?
