LAPO DEOAN JOSEPH has much contribution of this area's homeless peoples. He serves this peoples from his heart .He is trying to saves them in everyway . He is an angel .
I used to live on skid row,5th and San Pedro, I was there for 6 yrs ,it wasn't safe at night. I was lucky to have people who got me into a apartment in KoreaTown, I am living a good life, the homeless are trying to turn their lives around, but it's not really easy to get off the street these days..
Roy Evensen Never been homeless, have always had a room and a bed, but I’ve lived a hard and struggling life as we live pay check to pay check. I want you to know, that there are people like me who give money to the homeless, they don’t look down on it, and have nothing but love for everyone! I hate the government for letting people be in a situation such as most of us in America! Just wanted to let you know that we’re ALL, as Americans in this together. 85% of Americans are in debt. Just thought I’d give y’all an idea of just how common it is to feel powerless, and how 85/100 people you come across are on the grind every month. We just want a home, and the little things. That’s the statistic that’s always given me the strength to want better for myself. Keep safe friends! Stay strong!
@@haigminassian3872 I saw that no one responded to your comment so I figured I would. Like many things in life, you are correct that it isn't logical to stay on Skid Row. In fact, if you asked every person living on the streets in Skid Row, I can guarantee a large portion of them would say they want to get out. In situations like this though, there is far more to it than just picking up your bags and leaving. The mental baggage, drug abuse and reasons they got there in the first place can weigh down someones brain enough to where they can't or won't make a logical processed thought of that nature by themselves. They will give the "right" answer as they know what that is, but the road to get there is covered in a deep fog and looks the equivalent of climbing a 50 story building by hand with no aid, tools or ladders after you have fallen that low.
I loooove that he took this moment to firstly announce that most people here actually need mental help and ALSO addicted- so true. I'm so fortunate to be able to take care of myself.
daniel perrault you’re tripping and not being intellectually honest about that solid officer Deon Joseph. I watched the video where he gave the woman back the pipes that are Legal as long as there is no residue in them. So he cannot rather did not break that woman’s 4th amendment rights by stealing the oil burners from her. He did call her out for doing exactly what you said selling that shit there and trapping and preying on the addicts which is fucked of her. But not illlegal. He also broke their clique up and made them leave which is all the power he legally had at that time. So before you go dishonestly, or mistakenly?, throwing defamation on a man trying to make a positive difference in this world for 17 or 18 years now. Because that is lame as hell and demonizing the wrong parties and fighting the good guy. Come on bro.
God bless that officer for making a difference & may God watch over all of the people in the skid row. Life is hard but at the end of the day we’re all God’s children!
Skid row is a humbling place. This officer is very accurate. there are people who are looking for help and people trying to take advantage of others but i think the percentage of people with mental issues is far higher. This country is seriously lacking in mental health facilities and many of these people have nowhere to go and end up on skid row. Unfortunately no matter how many programs and organizations are in the area to help, there will always be too many people who need the services. If you have the means to help i really hope you do. many of these people and organizations are very happy to receive the help.
@daniel perrault Just curious are you out on the streets down there dealing with these people daily. I am and it is not just drugs there is people out there that have serious mental health issues that need help and treatment.
We only lack mental health because we got rid of the asylums. We need to bring them back, but with far better quality control to prevent abuses (which is, rightfully, why they were shut down).
Police officer has a positive attitude and definitely gifted working with these street people! I take my hat off to the mission that attempts to help those in the street!
This is the textbook definition of community policing. No ranting or raving but a sympathetic approach and treating these people as human beings. A study from NORC at the University of Chicago found that 20% of Americans had zero savings in case of an emergency and 40% only had $500 savings.
never been to skid row but seeing this lets me know there's still a lot of good people left in this world that are willing to put themselves and comfortable situations to help others.
God bless that Deon Joseph. That is a man with a good heart and has found his calling in life. Much love and respect to him indeed. Thank you for the video.
Some people just embody kindness and are so passionate that it makes them a more beautiful person. This dude could be physically hideous but he’d still be the most beautiful person in America
This officer is a good person I can only hope to marry someone with the same traits and mindset. People like him are the ones who make a huge difference, we must help our communities 🥺
Most police officers do the same job and are as nice as this guy. If he was in the gang unit, he would be pulling people out of cars all night. Doesn't mean he's a bad person, his job duties and focus just changed in order to fit the role.
When I was coming up back in the late seventies and early 80s, this place was better known as the bloodbath. now it’s more like Disneyland looks like a vacation compared to what it used to be.
he is senior chief Joseph and I have known him for about 7 years and can honestly say I have never mistreat the homeless and will help you in any way he can
This officer should be promoted to become the mayor because that what the mayor or anybody that supposed to deal with the homeless crisis should be doing scroll alongside the problems.
Every prejudice I had toward police officers that cop has peacefully lifted it up off me. "Que se lo page Dios" ( May God repay your kindness officer.)
When i see streets like this all i can think of is they need long stretches of grass.. Big grass fields instead of concrete.. Id get pretty depressed too just seeing this
This police officer is the real deal. I have nothing but love & respect for him.
I Appreciate your Compassionate Heart!!! Mr Joseph! My Prayers that YAH BLESS YOU AND KEEP YOU AND LET HIS FACE SHINE UPON YOU!!
LAPO DEOAN JOSEPH has much contribution of this area's homeless peoples. He serves this peoples from his heart .He is trying to saves them in everyway . He is an angel .
Officer You Are One Of a Kind We Need More Police Like You Hat's off To You

SKID ROW IS LIKE ANOTHER PLANET....WISH EVERYONE OUT ON THE STREETS THE BEST, BE SAFE.
Respect Officer Deon! I wish i had an officer like him in my neighborhood! Greetings from Portugal!
daniel perrault I’m surprised you’re not on skid row because you’re obviously schizophrenic
Jon Con crime is terrible there now my house there was robbed. drugs are terrible and just overall criminal activity is horrible.

This man is a model example for police officers everywhere. Takes his job seriously but also genuinely cares about the people. RESPECT!
man i just finished up a video of Mr Sgt Joseph From 2019, i can see why everyone in the video respected him, he does it right!
What a genuine good human being. Well done mate
Police officer has a positive attitude and definitely gifted working with these street people! I take my hat off to the mission that attempts to help those in the street!
union mission help lay my brother to rest thank you😇
This cop gets it, he is the type that helps bring true change, a tough cop with compassion, this world is indebted to you.
What a great police officer ! I love when he said “ I’m here to keep the wolves away from the sheep”, “to protect the sheep along here “

The guy singing "grinning in your face" at the start has an awesome blues voice..just like son house
Not a Sergeant, he's a Senior Lead Officer.
2 chevrons are corporal rank
He deserves more than sergeant
He deserves at least sergeant rank. Corporal is a rank below sergeant.
Nigga needs to be presedent fym
So what. Your point is?? You best chill before trump deport your ass. YOU ain't nowhere near out of the woods.
Oh my officer deon is a very helpful man
Sad, sad, sad scene...great police officer! Huge heart! God bless you officer Deon Joseph!

This guy is a champion
Much respect for this officer...What a role model and inspiration for young and misguided youths and adults.Keep up the good work.
This officer is a good person I can only hope to marry someone with the same traits and mindset. People like him are the ones who make a huge difference, we must help our communities 🥺
