It's funny because I have thought the same on a few occasions. With some of his videos and things he says on twitter, he just gives me a weird vibe. But I still like him. Someone asked Mars on tumblr once why she deleted all her vids, and she said ptsd. I wonder if she had a bad run in with crazy fans? Or something she never told Titanic about? Or it could have been Titanic. I don't want to automatically assume it was all him. But, the way he's side dissed her on social media before and with songs like this, you can't help but wonder. But when I see this song, and other snarky indirect comments he's made, I see someone who is bitter about how the relationship ended, not someone who continues to try and emotionally abuse her, if he did so at all. Sometimes I wonder if he was just jealous of her and that negativity stabbed at her. They work well together because their relationship was strictly business from the start. Titanic is in charge, so I wouldn't expect Poppy to really have a say one how the project should go. But, the videos that Titanic and Mars used to make are completely different than the ones Titanic makes with Poppy and the ones he even makes on his own channel. So this just makes me believe that they are both equally in on it. Maybe Titanic has reflected on the past. Maybe the second reason why they work so well together is because he learned from the mistakes he made with Mars. With Mars, it was a job and a relationship. That I can prove, but I did read somewhere that he made fun of Halsey's attempt at suicide saying that she didn't try hard enough. He might have deleted that. If you pay attention to the lyrics they are extremely manipulative. It’s also throwing shade at her. Why does he say “need me.” He’s being selfish. It's a thin line between love and hate. This whole thing saddens me more than anything else, because I can partially understand his motivations (and they do not come from a good place): she was cute, original, talented, had an amazing presence, in short, she was *naturally* everything that he was not but was trying very hard to be. She had money and he was always broke, always depending on her and her parents for financial support. He envied her and idolized her at the same time, but he was just an insecure little boy, scared shitl*ss she would one day take a good look at him and leave - because deep down he truly believed he did not deserve her. So he had to convince her she was less than him, that she was the one who needed him, when in reality it was totally the other way around. And that is how the abusive behavior towards her started, fueled by his fear: by putting her down he build himself up, by making her suffer and threatening to leave he asserted his control and power over her. She must have loved and believed in him very much at the time, to put up with all that... until one day he made the fatal mistake of cheating on her, and that was something she could never forgive. He lost her forever, when he least expected it, when things were finally working out for them as a band, when the future was smiling on them... and he had nobody else to blame but himself. Had he been a man, he would have at this point assumed his guilt and walked away, but he is what he always was: just a scared little boy. He bitterly tried to get her back in the worst possible ways and it all evidently backfired on him. Who hasn't done silly things we later deeply regret in the darkest despair of rejection? But he went too far. And so all he has been doing since, in that twisted, sick way that only a man child can, is *for* and *because* of her: "All I ever wanted to do was to love you, and to need me the same way I needed you". In old times this might have been called a tragic love story. But this day and age? He's just a creepy, obsessive, controlling, manipulative, abusive and insecure guy with poor self-control who nearly destroyed the object of his 'love'. A man child that could not take responsibility for what he did and preferred instead to lie and publicly vilify her character and her talent rather than admit his own guilt. All very sad, really. I figured before; I'm not surprised they were. But I've read they've said once or twice that they had to step back because it was becoming harder to discern between persona and person, so I wonder if somewhere along the way, without anyone noticing, Mars Argo and Titanic Sinclair the personas and the people behind them got a little too mixed up and confused, and I wonder if that contributed to the ultimate downfall of their relationship online (collaborating on Internet Show & music, etc) and off (their romantic relationship). Thank you for posting something with some hint of logic. All the drivel on here assuming fault and saying some abused someone is ridiculous. No one was there and knew what happened. All of us have had messy, complicated break ups.
This seems like the most reasonable theory. Dating with mental illness is probably one of the hardest things with it. That's really what this looks like. I feel like it's much harder on both ends than a normal breakup. Which could be why it seems so bad. The person who is not struggling with the mental illness tends to have a lot of resentment, but still love them at the same time. I think this song shows that. That's just me though.

I don't want to automatically assume it was all him. But, the way he's side dissed her on social media before and with songs like this, you can't help but wonder. But when I see this song, and other snarky indirect comments he's made, I see someone who is bitter about how the relationship ended, not someone who continues to try and emotionally abuse her, if he did so at all. Sometimes I wonder if he was just jealous of her and that negativity stabbed at her. Or mock her when she complained about something trivial from her life, since her dads rich (as he's mentioned a couple times). As in, "You have it easy, why are you complaining?" or "If it were me, I'd be happy about not having to worry about money and only having to create a couple videos on youtube to get by." Just seems like something he'd say. But again, this is just an assumption from what I've observed. Titanic's old videos give me hope that hes actually a sweet guy and he acts negative and slightly cynical only as a mocking act to main media.
I don't think he's controlling Poppy. They work well together because their relationship was strictly business from the start. Titanic is in charge, so I wouldn't expect Poppy to really have a say one how the project should go. But, the videos that Titanic and Mars used to make are completely different than the ones Titanic makes with Poppy and the ones he even makes on his own channel. So this just makes me believe that they are both equally in on it.
Maybe Titanic has reflected on the past. Maybe the second reason why they work so well together is because he learned from the mistakes he made with Mars. With Mars, it was a job and a relationship. So when one side went sour, the other side went as well.
I genuinely hope that Mars got help with whatever hurt her.

Ok I don’t like to comment shit like this. But seeing people thinking good of this song and that he still misses/loves her literally hurts me. If you pay attention to the lyrics they are extremely manipulative. It’s also throwing shade at her. Why does he say “need me.” He’s being selfish. If you ever saw the recent lawsuit I think it makes the song much worse. Mars finally came out and actually has shown with evidence that Titanic is manipulative, emotionally and even physically abusive. It’s disgusting and I’m glad that Mars is standing up for herself. Just to think he did all that shit during and AFTER they broke up and still continued to be manipulative and be shitty towards her in songs says a lot about his character.
It's a thin line between love and hate. This whole thing saddens me more than anything else, because I can partially understand his motivations (and they do not come from a good place): she was cute, original, talented, had an amazing presence, in short, she was *naturally* everything that he was not but was trying very hard to be. She had money and he was always broke, always depending on her and her parents for financial support.
He envied her and idolized her at the same time, but he was just an insecure little boy, scared shitl*ss she would one day take a good look at him and leave - because deep down he truly believed he did not deserve her. So he had to convince her she was less than him, that she was the one who needed him, when in reality it was totally the other way around. And that is how the abusive behavior towards her started, fueled by his fear: by putting her down he build himself up, by making her suffer and threatening to leave he asserted his control and power over her. She must have loved and believed in him very much at the time, to put up with all that... until one day he made the fatal mistake of cheating on her, and that was something she could never forgive.
He lost her forever, when he least expected it, when things were finally working out for them as a band, when the future was smiling on them... and he had nobody else to blame but himself. Had he been a man, he would have at this point assumed his guilt and walked away, but he is what he always was: just a scared little boy. He bitterly tried to get her back in the worst possible ways and it all evidently backfired on him. Who hasn't done silly things we later deeply regret in the darkest despair of rejection? But he went too far.
And so all he has been doing since, in that twisted, sick way that only a man child can, is *for* and *because* of her: "All I ever wanted to do was to love you, and to need me the same way I needed you".
In old times this might have been called a tragic love story. But this day and age? He's just a creepy, obsessive, controlling, manipulative, abusive and insecure guy with poor self-control who nearly destroyed the object of his 'love'. A man child that could not take responsibility for what he did and preferred instead to lie and publicly vilify her character and her talent rather than admit his own guilt.
All very sad, really. Hope it does not end far worse than it already is.

As I understand it, Mars Argo and Titanic Sinclair and their whole... online personalities and videos started as a satirical take on social media and fame. I guess the two were also dating? I figured before; I'm not surprised they were. But I've read they've said once or twice that they had to step back because it was becoming harder to discern between persona and person, so I wonder if somewhere along the way, without anyone noticing, Mars Argo and Titanic Sinclair the personas and the people behind them got a little too mixed up and confused, and I wonder if that contributed to the ultimate downfall of their relationship online (collaborating on Internet Show & music, etc) and off (their romantic relationship). Makes me feel some kinda way.

I really hope that like a lot of people are suggesting, this whole breakup and poppy thing is a stunt... but it looks like they were in a toxic relationship and she got herself out of it. she says she has PTSD because of him and the videos. seems odd she would keep her nickname then, as it's related to him. as someone who has been in a toxic relationship myself, I identify so much with what she says. but at the same time I understand that most abusive people don't see themselves that way, and as such, the pain in this song is genuine. if their relationship was bad, he probably did believe she left him over money or arrogance, because that's how he avoided coping with the idea that he was the problem. it's really a tragic thing, they seemed so happy together but we only saw what they wanted us to see. i think we can all agree that this song is bittersweet to listen to, same with Runaway. I hope they come to terms with whatever happened in a healthy way, I know from experience that letting it fester can really take a toll on your life and happiness.

Thank you for posting something with some hint of logic. All the drivel on here assuming fault and saying some abused someone is ridiculous. No one was there and knew what happened. All of us have had messy, complicated break ups.
This seems like the most reasonable theory. Dating with mental illness is probably one of the hardest things with it. That's really what this looks like. I feel like it's much harder on both ends than a normal breakup. Which could be why it seems so bad. The person who is not struggling with the mental illness tends to have a lot of resentment, but still love them at the same time. I think this song shows that. That's just me though.

I only discovered the who Poppy/Titanic Sinclar/Mars Argo thing 48 hours ago, but I have been sucked in by the whole thing. It is art pure and simple. My current theory right now is that the entire Poppy vs. Mars Argo and the alleged break up is an allegory. Titanic Sinclar and Mars Argo are both just characters. The man behind the face of Titanic Sinclar my be the one who is truly behind it all, maybe not, but the persona we see is a mere role, just like Poppy.

If sucks because you see the twisted way he loved her. He did everything for her in his mind. Even though everything he did after the breakup was unfair towards Margo. He completely manipulated and abused her yet it seems he's blaming her and completely roasting her. OMFG. So, the lawsuit is out and now we know the real story. As if that wasn't insane enough, I got my copy of this song elsewhere (maybe his page?) under the name "Salt" so I had NO IDEA it was Guppy. I'd heard about Guppy being about Mars and purposefully avoided it, or so I thought. So now the Salt video appears to be missing and when I finally click on Guppy today..
