@@mountuplikeaneagle I must have missed the good information they gave, or was it on another video
I grew up in Anniston but went to school in Weaver and Jacksonville (thank God) There were areas that we instinctively avoided, particularly after nightfall. I can’t speak much on the current state of the city, but in the early 2000s it was marred with gang violence, drugs, robbery, car theft, you name it. In 2002, my neighbor was shot, execution style, along with 3 other young men at a local Blockbuster. You couldn’t pay me to go back.
Nothing has changed still a crap hole
I was raised in northern Alabama, primarily around Gadsden and Anniston. They were both jewel cities in the 50's and 60's. I left there in 1965, and returned for a vacation in 2007. What a shock. I couldn't believe the decay in both cities. Truely sad when you consider how beautiful it was in the past. After a lifetime of travel my wife and I retired in the Ozarks because it is so beautiful, much like Northern Alabams without the high crime.
Anniston is a very safe city I have been here my whole life. Stay out of the hood at night is all I know as a white boy.
Lol, Dem white boys is in West End & Blue Mtn
Yet Anniston has the highest crime rate in Alabama lmaooo
that is such a lie, i went to anniston highschool & all people talked about in class was murder & violence. my cousin bf grew up and anniston and i vented to him about how horrible the crime is & a 24 year old man told me “ thats just how we survive we grew up that way “ SMH
@@theenovaa.6193 people also don't realize there's White Street Gangs, ik Alabama got a few mostly in trailer parks, can't say shit about Anniston personally however
To a white boy living here that is funny. These commentators and bigots come from the styx and actually drive through here and dump their garbage on the road. They DON'T live here.
First of all, Anniston is not a bad town. At the beginning you were in Anniston but not Anniston. Lived here all my life fr. Y'all got scared when folks started making eye contact from the guilty things you were saying. I don't comment on a lot of things but y'all wrong for this. Basically racially profiled a city from what others say. Just sound like some snitches to me. Learn that Anniston makes up most of Calhoun County. Might really get to see some thing. Next time do more research and tread carefully in Anniston when you visit. When you come back go to the high school and look at the kids of Anniston. Come to a restaurant with good food and enjoy a nice visit. Looks are not everything respect my city.
I have lived here 60 year's MY whole life in wellborn ,and never had a crime against me ..

In this video & in my opinion this is NOT the worst parts of Anniston today.
I lived all over those hills of Blue Mountain!
Also instead of bashing a town that I grew up in try learning the history behind why it is the way it is today.
You pasted the Mill that is no more but gave no history behind why.
Yet you point out the green abandoned home across the street from it.
Most of us know EXACTLY why that home & others are abandoned today- learn your history!!!
Once upon a time there was a school called Blue Mt, that all of us went to that sat in front of where the mill use to be & the workers would wave down to us at recess.
Soooo much history in that town that your missing.

I lived in Anniston for over 3 years and never had a problem. The people were real nice. Zero clan there, never saw any.
For some reason I'm starting to think, you secretly love Alabama?
I always wanted to see where the Forsythe and Sons corner store once stood! My great auntie was a freedom rider in the 60’s and the bus was burned in Anniston AL.
Anniston is America’s but whole
I have to disagree with you, I've lived in Talladega and now Anniston, I've seen worse places, try Fayetteville North Carolina, but there's always Philadelphia, New York and Chicago.... there's crime everywhere.
I’m from Anniston, used to be called “Americas town”. I’m moving back, and we’re going to change Anniston. There are no jobs there, grown folks work in gas stations, fast food restaurants, at the dealerships, or in some warehouses or factories. Thing is Anniston is highly segregated, you have the east and west sides of Anniston, you have different income levels. All the projects and hoods are on one side as well as most of the black people, so white annistonians have never seen the crime.
They don’t understand this. There’s a bypass now so they can stay away from West and South Anniston

I live in Oxford now but I go to a lot, Anniston is not near as dangerous as city's in Birmingham,Huntsville,Tuscaloosa. But you did say America have you been to California and if it was that dangerous if don't matter it was day or night you wouldn't be riding through there.

Investors and businesses took them all. Anniston has good history and bones. The views and vegetation look amazing. All it takes is one investor and it’s a wrap.
@Souther Life that building in bluemountain there does not have tornado damage that is old blue mountain cotton mill and there use be bluemountain school there i rember them calling all students in and telling us that they gave them choice to shut down or to let black kids come to school there and the school said they shutdown before they would do that so that was last day we went to that school and they the state made some of us kids go to saks school and rest had go to ALexandria shcool i ended up going to Alexandria then blue mountain cotten mill turn the school that sit in front of blue mountain cotton mill into some offices of the mill eventually the mill closed and the state tore it all down and to this day are still selling the materials that come from the mill and school to other buisnesses
