Have you seen what the Otamatone Jumbo looks like ? It's fucking massive . Its like a real life size guitar . I wish I can buy that but I don't think the jumbos are on for sale anymore . There's a video on youtube where I beleive the person that creates them plays it . Its amazing lol. Again I wish I can buy the jumbo version .
ColaLifee GT if you have an iPhone I’d definitely get the Otamatone Techno so you can get the most out of it, if you haven’t got an iOS device I’d go with the Otamatone deluxe, it doesn’t have the app compatibility but it’s a bit cheaper and it’s the same size as the techno which makes it much easier to play than the standard Otamatone. Hope that helps.
The only difference with the Japanese versions is the language of the instructions. The difference between the techno and the deluxe is the techno can be plugged into things and can plug into your phone and use various apps to give different sounds.
Just ordered a White Techno version on Ebay a couple of days ago. Even though I don't have an apple phone (but I soon I might get an iPhone . I have a Samsung ) which iPhone is the best to get that's very cheap but has all the apps ? I'm thinking an IPhone 6 is the best one so far . Does it matter if I should get an IPhone 6 or IPhone 6s .? Is there a big difference for the Otamatone ?
I want to ask this as a birthday gift, and I have a samsung phone and a windows pc, so which do I buy? I do have a macbook if that is compatible with the app?
KazigKaasje as far as I’m aware the app only works on iOS devices, so iPhones. I would suggest the Otamatone deluxe, it’s cheaper than the techno but retains the size of it. The use of the app is nice and can be fun but is certainly not necessary and can the Otamatone is a lot of fun even without the app.
KazigKaasje yes it’s the perfect size for kids as well but if it’s a gift for an adult or someone with bigger hands/fingers I’d suggest the deluxe as it’s much easier to play.
It's the only real difference between the deluxe and the original, which makes it much easier to play, however, the techno also allows use of certain apps to change the sounds.
Welcome To My Midlife Crisis no is not with the otamatone deluxe you can plug it into a speaker or use headphones (it still plays out of the otamatone) and it has the volume knob so there’s a lot more than 2 volume settings
OK I’m going to get the good one then. But which one is better techno or deluxe because I don’t think I’ll plug it I on anything and if I do then it won’t matter nor does the cost of it. Just wanted to know which one is better techno or deluxe pls.
If you’re not going to plug it into anything or use the apps then the deluxe is exactly the same size as the techno but cheaper and I’d go for the deluxe in that case.
you have connected the otamatone with your mobil phone via a cableadapter. Is this a USB-to-Audio adaptercable ? I mean the short grey cable seen at 7:02. Many thanks
herbert mladosevits herbert mladosevits it’s a 3.5mm to aux cable and it comes with the Otamatone. The short grey cable is the headphone adapter that comes with my iPhone as there is no headphone jack in the iPhone 10. Hope that helps.
OzenFPV pretty much. I’m not 100% on all of the plug in and app compatibility options of the bro. The neo’s finger board is slightly wider than the normal otamatone but not as wide or tall as the techno.
Great review, wanted to ask if you have any idea where I can find a case for the deluxe/techno? I've been searching everywhere with no luck. There's a case for the original tiny one on amazon, but that's it. Looking to bring it when on tour (when that's possible again) and don't want to pull the trigger on one without some kind of protection in mind.
Sorry but I don't really care about the OTM link cuz I'm looking to get the deluxe and I figured that the deluxe and the techno were the same thing except for the OTM link
Fiery Skull they are. The techno allows you to connect to your phone and use apps to change the sounds that you can play, otherwise they’re the same. The deluxe is also cheaper so if you’re not bothered about being able to change the sounds then the deluxe is perfect. Enjoy.
Fiery Skull haha they really are. They’re definitely the sort of thing that could only come from Japanese culture. I hope you enjoy your deluxe. You’ll have to let me know how you get on with it.
They’re the same size but the techno has the OTM link so it can be connected to a phone and used with apps like ThumbJam to change the sound of the Otamatone.
Great video! Have you ever had trouble with Thumb Jam? I bought the Techno for Christmas and when I play it with Thumb Jam, there's always other sounds or notes in the background. Like a piano key, or a higher pitched string. It doesn't sound as clean as when you are using it. I'm wondering if there's something wrong with the otamatone I bought.
Thanks, I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I initially had all kinds of issues getting it to work properly with Thumb Jam but it eventually just seemed to work. I would say it's more an issue with the app than with the Otmatone. I hope you manage to get it sorted.
@@MidlifeGamer How did you get it to work!? Not having any luck when I connect it it just plays the Otamatone sound but very low volume. When I play the thumb jam app on my phone the Otamatone just acts as a speaker. There's like no info on this anywhere which I find shocking considering how many people seem to have them. Any help would be very appreciated!
MahonaBona I had the same issue. If you look to the left on the ThumbJam app there’s a button just below the #b button that has a 🔴 on it. If you press that you’ll see a microphone sign. It’s one of those that makes the sound come out of the Otamatone. I agree it’s ridiculous that there are no instructions. Hope this helps.
Hey I'm getting one, what's the difference between the English and Japanese,is it just the language? And is the difference between the deluxe and techno just the otm link
Perverted Gatorade that’s pretty cool. Yeah it seems that they’ve translated the instructions but otherwise it looks exactly the same. That’s the Deluxe though so you won’t be able to use it with your phone but it is the same larger size as the Techno.
I paid £90 on eBay (about $115) so they’re quite expensive but I think it’s worth it. I’ve seen the deluxe for about £55 ($70) so that’s another option but you lose the ability to use the apps. Hope that helps.
What about playing it? I heard its kinda easy to hit a semitone for error and mess up things, how much is the margin of error between a note and another?
- Daigher - yeah there’s a wider gap between the lower notes and then it starts to shrink as you get to the higher notes. It’s a bit trial and error but that’s kind of half the fun and you quickly get used to it. I’ve got a playlist of me playing it (badly) if you want to check them out to give you a bit of an idea.
Imma plug that thing to a distorsion pedal and then i'm ready for an audiction to metallica
They NEED an otamatone player XD
- Daigher - hahaha is definitely pay to see that.

From what I've seen you can still buy the jumbo made to order fro their website.
What a small channel, for such a big video.
Not sure if that’s a compliment or not.

Rip. I ordered original one but I have pretty small fingers so it might work for me
You still won't be disappointed, it's great fun.
Is there many crappy copies out there? Safest way to buy? Seen some suspiciously low prices on eBay for the ”techno”

Also now i have something to watch when im going to my moms boydriends house

What’s the difference between the deluxe, techno, Japanese version...? Are they all just the same large version?
The only difference with the Japanese versions is the language of the instructions. The difference between the techno and the deluxe is the techno can be plugged into things and can plug into your phone and use various apps to give different sounds.
@@MidlifeGamer so the techno is the deluxe of the deluxe aka mega deluxe
