Lead: Toc, we found a graveyard in the basement...looks like it's their children.
Toc: Uh copy that entryteam, we'll notify the morgue.
Yeah. :-( One supremely creepy mission.
@mrmudzahedini somewhere i read, that every mission in the 'SWAT' games is based on an real event.

A friend of mine is a mexican police and he was involved in a situation like this SWAT 4 mission. He told me his team made entry inside a cartel warehouse, there were heavy machine guns shots fired of course, but lots of cartel gunmen ranaway and some were killed or arrested. The officers found dead “contras” (the cartel gunmen call another enemies cartels with that name) in the basement. There were some weapons that were left on the ground with tactical vest with another cartel name, some bodies were beheaded and some other shattered but they were kids, possibly 14-16 years old.
He told me “damn man, they were just kids… and you know what's the saddest part? Sometimes we get involved in shoots against heavily armed kids and, when they not surrender, we can't make a decision. It's our life… or their life.”
@@ilikebeingbronixD Wow...
Girard: 'This place is giving me the creeps...'
Girard: 'These guys are a lot more organized than I expected.'
Fields: 'Yeah, but with *bombs*.'
The chatter between the officers was awesome, particularly in that level. Those remarks gave our guys a bit of a personality.
I thought it was Reynolds who said "yeah, but with bombs".
Jackson: This place reminds me of bootcamp... And not in a good way.
The children graveyard is up there on my creepy and disturbing moments in video games and what is scary is the something like this could happen and that is what creeps me out. Any one got creeped out when they played this level and found this.
I played this game when I was a kid... that part creeped me out so much.
Oh ya.
_~To the dirt, to the dirt, and to the dirt.~_
_Will I ever see my little ones again...? I must have faith._
_Forgive me, Taronne, I was weak!_
+Robert Dole Isn't it "Tooo the dirt, toooo the dirt, toooo the dirt and to the earth? Or I am hearing it wrong?
we need swat 5
And now you shall receive....
Look up: Ready or Not
We still need Swat 5.
Yep
@Legion Zero For once, I am on the recieving end of this sort of comment...
@Legion Zero Suddenly surprise beta test!
Though looks to be not at all ready to be released as such if you ask me.
Well, normally he says "we'll send in trailers", but an ambulance isn't really going to do much good here. Guess he was trying to figure out whom to send in for the children, took him a moment to come up with coroner, cause most deaths in a mission like this are still treated as medical emergencies until any attempts of saving the person prove ineffective. So ya, he was a bit shocked about the graveyard, but also just didn't know what kind of response would be appropriate.
Yes, didn't seem like he was expecting a situation that gruesome...
You dont get me scared by games like outlast with silly jumpscares, this mission used to creep me put badly!
Awesome. :-D
I have known SWAT 4 but never got around playing it all these years, but now thanks to GOG I decided to dive into it.
I knew Ken Levine and his team Irrational made it, but I didn't know anything else. I am genuinely surprised how awesome and tactical the game is, but I wasn't aware how atmospheric and disturbing it'll be and that surprised me even more.
When I began the second mission, another game started to crawl through from the back of my mind... I knew I heard this unsettling ambiance music before, and the whole mission just started to get under my skin with it's disturbing theme. But I couldn't quite place it, at least not until this Taronne mission where the realization just hit me: "I'll be damned, it's THIEF!" Being one of my favorite franchises I was even more surprised to find out that Eric Brosius did the sound design for this game too, and it shows. This track even uses the same ambiance that was in Thief: Deadly Shadows. Just bloody genius.
Wonderful comment, thank you. :-) I think it's no wonder SWAT 4 turned out as a very worthy installment in the series, with Irrational on the job. You still see debates among the series' fandom about whether SWAT 3 or SWAT 4 was the superior game, but I feel it's pretty clear SWAT 4 topped the already high-quality third game in many ways.
Irrational having that LGS pedigree of their's (and some former LGS devs working on SWAT 4 - aside from Eric, also Nate Wells, or Sara Verilli, who wrote the mission narratives), it's unsurprising much of SWAT 4 feels designed like an immersive sim. When you not only refine the tactical gameplay, but also take great care to get the atmosphere right in terms of environmental design, sound and music, that's a real accomplishment.
When I first played this mission, the ambient drones felt instantly familiar as well. I already knew Eric Brosius had worked on the music, but hearing something that wouldn't have been out of place in Thief: Deadly Shadows really sealed the deal on him leaving his signature all over SWAT 4.
I used to play this game on lower brightness and gamma settings than standard, to give it more a realistic lightning, and with the combination of this mission it was super scary!
Awesome - seconded. 8-D
"mother of god... Those graves... They're just children"
First few minutes are straight horror ambience. So great.

This level was the creepiest of them all. When I entered the room where the "star path" begins, I turned around every five seconds and looked over the shoulder just to make sure that there was no one behind me, although the team was there all the time...
And the graveyard in the basement... I went to a shock when I saw the place.
BTW, can anyone say whether this is based on real-life or?
I know this is late but it might be
Yes
@@justice360 yeah, just a BIT late
I know John Wayne Gacy did hid few of his victims in his house's crawl space but I don't if it's based on that event exactly
It does kinda have similarities to “the peoples temple” Jonestown incident.
I remember the part at 02:55 when you see the graves of children in the basement. Made my heart sink into my chest just thinking about what animal could do that to children. This level was probably inspired by the Waco Siege for 1993 between the ATF and FBI against the Branch Davidians with David Koresh.
And that's where I recognized that it's Eric Brosius. Same memorable sound sample he used in Thief: Deadly Shadows, in the Old Quarter track.
oh yes... so unique and top quality
ah very good grand admiral! you really got an eye for detail! im so happy to be a crew member of the chimera
When you call in the graveyard over the radio, the guy on the other end kind of hesitates "uh.... copy that, entry team."
3:37 is my favorite. I always love to hear action soundtracks
0:48 sends chills down my spine every time
Especially when finding the graveyard in the basement
This was actually based of the 'Heaven's Gate' mass suicide... shit!
very scary
But I think it was partially based of David Koresh and the Waco Siege as well with the firearms and Self Defence.
Heaven’s Gate, Branch Dravidians and People’s Temple all rolled into one. Fucking horrifying!
SO spooky... I can't believe that i hear this kind of music in SWAT game. )
This is one of those missions where I'm like "fuck it, we're not taking prisoners"
i was ten, I was playing this level, I never manage to finished it because it was so fucking creepy and I keep thinking of jump scare!!
“Talk we found graves in the basement. Looks like it’s their children…”
“…Uh copy that entry team, notifying the Morgue…”
when you reach the area that has the basement and there are digged graves my heart really started pumpin and I didnt want to go further
I was curious how they execute (no pun intended) kids in a game with firearms. My curiosity WAS the first step to hell. Great game.
"uh... notifying the... coroner"
I wondered why the cult level gave me a vibe of thief- the same guy from the excellent thief OST made SWAT music.
Exactly. :-) I've never mentioned this specifically in the video descriptions, but Eric Brosius did the soundtracks for the Thief trilogy and for this installment of SWAT (though not for the expansion pack, IIRC). I think it's telling so many of his tracks feature here on my channel. He's a fantastic ambient music composer and still highly underrated in the industry. If you want to learn more about what he's up to nowadays, he's working at Harmonix on their music games.
Just perfect for the level. 3:36 is great.
Man this place CREEPED ME OUT!!!!
"This place is giving me the creeps"
- SWAT 4 officer as part of entry team.
TOC we found a graveyard in the basement....looks like it's their children...
"Uh ... Copy entry team, notifying the morgue"
I imagine there's a kind of fearlessness and unpredictability only found in complete fanatics to a given cause that makes them some of the scarier types of people to deal with in this sort of setting, sorta like how the expert is afraid of the complete newb in a game like chess.
of course, it doesn't help that these particular fanatics are well-armed, stashed their explosives everywhere, and don't care if they shoot them.
3:40 love it
Strange we never got a newer HD upload of this particular song for whatever reason. Easily one of the best songs in the game; creepy af. This, Fairfax, red library had some of my favourite soundtracks. I mean the research center, food wall too. Their all great. I love both Ready or Not & Swat 4 soundtracks & their menu themes. Under rated.
3:36 just a simple loop, but still so catching. also creates a very unpleasant atmosphere
2:52 This was also used upon finding the drug lab in the second mission of Hitman Blood Money. This makes me think it's not just for the games but some frightening stock music, any ideas?
(7 years late but who cares)
High pitched strings are used to convey immediate threat and pressure in soundtracks, that's why it's similar.
This OST always gave me the creeps while playing this stage
I show my mates this song and I say to them this is so scary... and there like wtf this isnt scary.... then Im like, well it is when you had to do the fucking mission!
I was playing with my friend on co-op this level, man...this scenario is insane. One time I did not saw suspect running through corridor at us, I press F to yell to drop his gun. He did not listen and went stairs below instead killing I and me friend. Close call.
my first FPS :')
An excellent FPS to start on ! :-)
It Is So Scary This Mission
They need to remake this in ready or not
They should try remaking Ready or Not into a good game first 💀
This soundtrack would've fit better in a horror game...
Well, spoiler: The mission is rather horror-esque. Nothing supernatural, but plenty of tension and creepiness.
I changed the "action/shots fired" song by the one of Fairfax residence, and it turns creepier xD
0:01 - 2:53 (Best ambient ever)
Best Fps my opinion
@Fearosius
Yeah, but this this SWAT guys don't bother with some stupid warrants...
Super effective.
funny how this mission was an actuel happening back in 1990 in usa.
RooooK what was this situation called?
@@CoolioTops Waco Siege
GET SOME LUNATICS!!!
@Bluehawk2008 Base this is entry team. suspect kill
Uh....copy that entry team. back to the mission.
I don't know why this mission isn't creepy for me. For me only creepy mission is Fairfax Residence
tsstevensts I didnt think it was? Is it really?
was proud to atleast manage to arrest one guy who is also confused on why he joined this shit show instead of blabbering about that weird ass god they were praising about
