QameS is like the British pronunciation of 'box', with lip rounding and a fully open jaw height. When it occurs in a closed, unstressed syllable its jaw height is slightly lowered. This is known in contemporary grammar books as QameS 'Hatuph' or 'Qatan'.

Thanks for the teaching the Hebrew vowels. It is possible if the Masorites did not invent the vowel system many non natives would not have been able to study this ancient Biblical language. Thanks to the Masorites.

Well, for that you'd need to see the video entitled "Vowels Continued" ua-cam.com/video/nXj1YULpG3c/v-deo.html
However, note that these videos were used for a specific institution's asynchronous learning, so every detail you're looking for may not be featured in the video, as we also used face-to-face learning.

Sheva at the beginning of syllables is acceptably pronounced like a quick indistinct vowel as in the /e/ in "delay". In true Biblical Hebrew though it's pronounced like the /a/ in "bat" before non-guttural consonants. Preceding guttural consonants, Sheva takes on a hurried version of the vowel on the guttural. At the end of syllables its silent. Sheva in the middle of a word is silent. In most cases, whether Sheva is pronounced vocalic or not in word medial position is non-phonemic. This means it doesn't affect word meaning. In very few instances its phonemic and must be distinguished; a knowledge of morphology is necessary for this. But as aforementioned in most cases its pronunciation medially is a matter of preference. One of the biggest traps beginners fall into is over focusing this and thinking it has to be one way or another.
