I actually have a 480 tenor, and I did swap out the neck for one of the upgraded custom necks. It’s not an overstatement that it feels like playing a different horn altogether. Just my personal experience.
Hi - We'd say it's similar to the E1, i.e. medium. The 480 neck is a little more open than the 280 and current 62 necks. But, it's nowhere near as big as the V1.
Hey y’all. I’m 65 and a bit short winded from years of having smoked earlier in my life. Would this sax require too much from me, as a beginner or not?
I love my 480, playing it with the Yamaha metal thumb set, Vandoren V16 A6M, Légère Signature Reeds 3.0 and the ToKo Klangbogen.

I subscribed to your channel. Could you make a video showing us the difference, do you think the sound gets bigger with a custom neck or something?
Was hoping you'd cover the differences between the 480 and 62 also.
Hi - You can see our 280 vs 480 vs 62 comparison video here: ua-cam.com/video/JXQAnmLINjQ/v-deo.html
Hi, how does the standard neck piece that comes with the YAS 480 compare to the Yamaha custom necks.

dawkesmusic, good to know. Thanks
Is yas480 better than yas32? How huge is the difference?
When was the last Yas-480 made in Japan? I have googled and googled and googled. I cannot find an answer.
Does the Yamaha YAS-480 feature a rib construction?
No, that feature starts at the YAS-62 level. The 480 posts are soldered on to the body with just a small circular plate underneath each post.
Is the 480 better or the 475?
yes

Hi - This is a very easy blowing Sax so it should be no problem. It's certainly more free blowing than a lot of models on the market.
@@dawkesmusic thanks y’all. Will put my Christmas money towards getting one from my local music store after Christmas.
Are there models that are the same but without the engravings for a lower price? They look kinda tacky to me
The YAS-280 is the best option if you want no engraving, more info here: www.dawkes.co.uk/yamaha-yas-280-alto-saxophone-saxophone/16203
Obviously subjective, I LOVE engravings. Hah! ;)
What is brand mpc using Simon on this video?
Hi, he's on a Meyer #7 HR
@@dawkesmusic thanks for information, great sound.🎷🎷🎷
