First, let me tell you more about the workshop. It offers a sensory-rich experience that's incredibly relaxing and therapeutic, and no prior art skills are necessary. All the materials I use are of high quality, including natural silk chiffon, raw silk, merino wool, and Marseille soap (72% made of olive oil).
I have over 15 years of experience working with merino wool and silk, creating various accessories such as scarves, gloves, and brooches, as well as women's fashion items like dresses, blouses, and coats. I also craft home decor items like paintings, sculptures, and table runners. I'm truly in love with merino wool!
One of my workshops focuses on Wool and Silk Paintings. This unique and interesting technique involves painting on a silk base using colourful, soft, and fluffy merino wool and natural raw silk fibres. We start with a dry and fluffy setup, creating paintings such as landscapes, flowers, or abstract designs. The process then becomes wet and soapy, with bubbles and foam. We roll and massage the materials using our hands, bubble wrap, and towels. This technique, called "Nuno felting," requires the wool fibres to merge with the silk textile, combining all materials into a single piece of art.
