  • Sharpsburg is a small town in the central panhandle of Maryland. It would otherwise be known as a quiet innocuous town had it not been for one of the deadliest days in American history. In 1862, the Confederate Army marched into Sharpsburg and engaged Union forces in the bloodiest single day of the entire civil war. Now the town is haunted by the events of that fateful day; and ghosts of some of the soldiers who lost their lives there still linger behind.

Cannister shot was used as recently as the Vietnam War. Possibly afterward. Artillery pieces would be loaded with the shot, lowered to nearly ground level, and fired like a shotgun into advancing enemy. Brutal shit.
