Nice video, did you say that an air burst is worse than a ground burst? That would seem to be reversed. A lot of testing was done using airbursts specifically to avoid fallout as much as possible, and in the Plumbbob test series, they deliberately detonated a Genie warhead directly over a small group of volunteers to attempt to prove their point. Enjoying this series, curious how many of the Nike sites remain. If you make it up the eastern seaboard, check out the site of the 1958 Nike explosion here in New Jersey. History sadly not remembered by many!
I found your channel last week and subscribed. Many years ago in the 1980's I received my degree in Biochemistry from the University of Iowa. I was working as a student at the U of I's Radiation Safety Office. Upon graduation, I took a job as a Health Physics tech. I worked there for five years until I took a job with the Iowa Department of Public Health. I worked in the Radioactive Materials section doing inspections of radioactive materials licensee's. We were a new agreement state with the NRC still keeping jurisdiction over a few facilities. One such facility was the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant located in Middleton, Iowa. I went there once in 1990 with an NRC inspector. When I saw your map on your video, there was a dot in south eastern Iowa. I have a feeling that is one in the same. Te place I went to made atomic bomb triggers. I really enjoy seeing your travels to these sites. I have worked at Los Alamos, took a five week Health Physics course at Oak Ridge and have visited ANL and INEL.

Interesting background! Yes, Iowa used to have a facility - I have to eventually update my map. It's on my to-do list
