I finally just got my first astrophotography setup a couple weeks ago, and I’ve been out every clear night. And I’ll never forget my first picture of the Orion Nebula, thank you so much for getting me hooked into this incredible hobby!
Can you tell the details of your setup? 🥺
@@no_mercy4183 I have a rebel t7 with a 300 mm zoom lens on a star adventurer
I just got my first setup too but it’s been raining for the last month 😢 but it clears up this week 😁😁
May i know the settings you use for that camera, i have the exact same but its still to noisy or blurry, maybe i can use the same settings you have
@@avatar123456789s i usually shoot at iso 1600 at f 6.3 ish in bulb mode, but I’m so new I’m still kind of playing around with everything and experimenting with it. I’m not sure if that’s what you want to use, but that’s what I’ve been using
Because of you, I bought an Ioptron Sky Guider Pro for my trip to French Polynesia. The learning curve was quite intense, and because of all the luggage problem with many airlines last summer, I chose to only bring hand luggage! You can imagine the choices I had to make to bring my camera kit and star tracker!! It was all worth it. Even if my camera was getting old and had a small sensor, it was still amazing to capture the Milky Way in such a perfectly unpolluted night sky! Thank you for sharing your passion with us, it inspired me!
Enjoy your vacation!!! You two deserve it. Looking forward to your next video.
Glad you and Ashley got away from the cold and the perpetual cloudy skies. I don’t think I have seen the stars since before Christmas. Looking forward to the recap of your trip!
Happy For You Both,Have Fun,Be Safe,and God Bless🙏🏼❤️✨🔭🌏
"Annoying Telescope Guy" could easily be the name of my Astrophotography blog if I ever were to start one. I would most likely be the OTHER guy with the mount in one hand and a beer in the other after sunset. Wish you both a great trip.
Have a great trip you two
Safe travels, I'm looking forward to the follow up video.
Love your channel
Enjoy your vacation guys! Good luck with your imaging. I managed to image the Phantom of the Opera nebula a few weeks ago. Sooooo cool! Dr B from Manitoba, Canada 🇨🇦
Love it Trevor! Last night I was able to finally capture Orion Nebula for the first time. Southern Ontario has been cloud cover for what it seems like forever (as you know). So happy with how it turned out. Have a safe and fun trip!
Lucky, i live in New York, and i was hoping for a clear night to start my first astrophotography session after a forecast of clear skies the whole night... the forecast was completely wrong. Cloudy tge entire night. I may be able to try it tonight but idk.
@@energ413 the forecast for me said it was supposed to be cloudy all night. Luckily it just missed my location. Clear skies! Good luck with your Astro adventures.
Sounds perfect Trevor!
Nice, and thx for the tipps! Hopefully you're also onetime able to post the newly discovered nebula near the andromeda galaxy 😍
This is so impressionant, how many shots and stacks and filteres fotos exists frommthis Galaxy but until now, nobody has seen it or noticed it. So this shows us, everyone can find something new in the universe!
And, this month, we can see a Comet (C/2022 E3) hopefully the clouds here in Luxembourg will allow 1 clear night...
Now I know why you're not hitting WSP this year! Have an incredible time and a relaxing vacation... you both deserve it and then some. Wishing you clear skies, warm weather, and flowing beverages....
Can't wait to see the results!
Have a Good holiday u guys. relax and enjoy :) looking forward for recap with tecila hehe
I used a similar setup in greece on the island rhodes. The problem in the end was the massive light pollution at the beach. Some hotels even had those moving light beam things on the roof. Hope you’ve got more luck !
Awesome dude, I hope you guys have an incredible trip and get plenty of rest - you deserve it! :-D Can't wait to see the results from this one though if you do get the chance to shoot!
😂I'm with Ashley on the relaxation but I know even she will want a night or two under the stars. If you agree to put in a plug for the resort on your channel they might be even more accomodating to you and future astro guests. Anyway enjoy and don't forget to look for the comet if you will be there later in the month.
Cool Trip. Mojitos and and astrophotography on the beach - what can be better? Cheers
Thanks, Kurt! Clear skies buddy
in a few hours ill be getting a tring so ill finally be able to take some pictures thanks for getting me in to this as a 13 year old
Have fun, stay safe
Have fun!
Hi Trevor. I hope you guys have a fantastic trip. I love your rig, but I don't understand why you wouldn't take your Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi. Sooo much easier to polar align and the go to capabilities help you relax while you and Ashley enjoy a cool refreshing beverage. lol. I think they are very close weight wise as-well load limits are nearly the same. I can't wait to see your shots! Have a safe fun trip!
Good luck!
"That's how I relax, I make videos."
LMAO
Hey guys. Massive fan of your content. I’ll be flying out to Mexico from the UK for 11 nights this Saturday. I’m assuming you didn’t mention the exact location for privacy reasons so I won’t give it away in the comments but I think we might be staying in the resort next door (or certainly very close anyway). I hope you guys have a great time and I look forward to seeing the video from your Astro session in Mexico. What a small world we live in!
Bro, once in a lifetime moment has come. The green comet ☄️ is here which occurs up about every 50,000 years and will be visible from last week on Jan till the end of first week on Feb. Pls capture it for us as it's been very difficult for us to find it out. The best day to watch it is on 2 Feb and 3 Feb
Hey guys, when are you going to cross the equator and head Down Under? There's a lot to see both on the ground and in our magnificent southern skies, MW season is amazing 💫
This winter has sucked big time. Trever gets the same weather systems that I do and I’m so jealous! I seriously have losing my mind over the past 8 weeks. My rig has been sitting in my living room looking sad. 😢
I’m praying for a clear sky so that the comet 2022 is visible. 🤞 Maybe a short comet episode??? Just a thought.
This is awesome! I just found your channel. How does one stack images? I guess, where do I start? I have a T3i ☺️
Cool bruh!
Hermosa mi Costa Rica!
Perfect timing for this video. Just booked a 'not photo' vacation to Cancun with my wife for early April haha. What resort you staying at??
Hey Trevor 🇨🇦!! I love all your videos!! I know your all about the deep space but i was wondering if one day you could do a video on Planetary/Lunar Photography for beginners. I also was wondering if you offer online courses ??
Hey Trevor love your work and channel ☺️
Going through your videos and trying to find the follow up to this one .. ?
i'm going to mexico soon and i also live in canada! what would be some good untracked targets from there? also absolutely love your content
I've just got into astrophotography and I just have a mirror less and a kit lens, do you recommend I upgrade my lens or a get a tracker mount first? I'm a student so probably will only be able to roll with one of the upgrades for a while haha
Are you guys continuing with the Bird Nerds channel? I definitely miss seeing your content on there. It was one of my first UA-cam subscriptions
I have the Rokinon 100 for that
Macro works in space!
Ashley say no..then Trevor is packing the mount and camera...😄
Hi Trevor! I just got my first gear for astro photography and staring to get familiar, my camera does not have a flip out display, would you recommend to get one with a flip out display or get a auto guided camera instead?
You have a very patient spouse. Once those kiddos come along, no room for this gear on vacation ;)
I also use a Canon EOS Ra camera for wide field astrophotography. Do you have a recommendation for a good (relatively low cost) RF Telephoto lens? Enjoy your trip to Mexico!
I should have read that earlier that the 135mm works better at f3.2 then f2. my stars all have halo's around them.
Hello ! Would you guys recommend me the 75-300mm (we saw that it could give some pretty solid result in Trevor’s past videos against Nico from Nebula Photos) or should I grab myself a 55-250mm STM to do deepsky astro?
Any issues traveling with lithium batteries? Or do you just stick with the AAs while traveling?
Lol! Have fun, be the crazy nerd of the resort. ;) Got to do what you got to do. haha
Have nice for this couple .... :)
If you were to travel to Australia / New Zealand, what targets would you aim for?
Will you be capturing the rare green comet that is supposed to be flying by earth January and February 2023? They are saying this comet hasn't been here for 50,000 years
Qué original! jajaja 👏👏
Mr. AstroBackyard do you have captured the "green comet"
What if we can't see polaris, & can we plate solve in using these equipments.
Remember dew heaters! Humidity is not like Canada. I live here (or 30min south of your resort to be precise) And yesterday my finder scope of my dob and the ocular on my dob dew up completely after just 45min... Also finding Polaris is pretty hard from the beach because is 20 degrees over the horizon and the tree line is always dense and is following the beach that having the Caribbean ocean to ESE.
@AstroBackyard shoot me a message if you want some local tips :)
Can you tell me from where to buy galaxy pictures like these on your wall please?
Have you ever tried CRAW for astro? Curious if you've noticed any degradation at night. Have a great trip!
What bag did you pack everything in at the start ?
Another one - you're planning for 120sec subs, I'm using the same setup as well and can get max 90sec without guiding... Is it all about proper polar alignment?
Hey comments, beginner DSLR user here. So I've seen m42 and M48 t-rings, I have an APS-C Rebel T7 and was wondering if I could use an M48 t ring over an m42.
Okey. Glad to see I am not the only one taking gear to a paradise. I simply had to take a star-tracker with me on our elopement wedding trip to Hawaii. And my 4" SCT 😂 We went to a Haleakala one day and sky there is just unbelievable. One day I simply have to go back with a proper rig. Right after the dusk, trillions stars just popped out, like someone just flipped the switch. I have never seen anything like that and I have camped at a few dark, remote locations here in BC or AB. That extra elevation there is probably an extra advantage. Just cannot stop thinking about that place...
Enjoy.
I'm so glad I live in the northern hemisphere. I think we have the best pick of objects, but there are definitely some I would love to grab if I took a trip down south.
But, can't imagine trusting my equipment to the airlines. Lol. Not too mention the cost! Whew!
But you've got the right idea with the rig your taking.
Question, because I cannot find the answer anywhere else: how do you get stars visible on video (no timelapse), in real time
Is the Canon EOS Rebel T100 with a 18-55 mm lens good for any astrophotography?
Great minds think alike
Another video showing how versatile is the Rokinon/Samyang 135mm f/2 lens!
Is it possible to stack stacked photos on DSS?
and there's me thinking im pro taking pics of stars with my pixel 7
Why mexico? Do Atacama next!
Can EQ mounts track the sun and moon?
Ironic. I just shot Carina nebula form Australia untracked over 4 nights. Got about 30mins total
Which resort did you go to in Mexico?
Hurry back trev! 😫
So you said RAW is a must. What about CRAW? Have you tried that?
I'll bet something like an ASI Air would be handy for polar alignment...
I'm heading to the Philippines and hoping to hit some southern targets. Unfortunately, instead of going in February when all the prime targets are high in the sky, my sister in law decided to get married in July, when tix are most expensive, and only the SMC will be visible. But I'll take a stab at it. Won't be taking a tracker though just some trackerless shots and seeing what my Google Pixel Pro 6 can do.
As I have lived a couple of years in the .ph and for the last 5 in mexico (Riviera Maya) I can say you will need a lot more luck getting some shots from the Philippines. Dry season in the Philippines is wetter than wet season in Riviera Maya. Wet season starts in June so don't have to high hopes for clear skies, but depending on location you can get really dark beautiful skies there. That is well away from Manila, Cebu and Davao. Parts of Palawan is really beautiful!
I would take my Canon 10x42 Image Stabilized Binoculars, and watch the Bikini Nebula.
HEY! ANNOYING ASTRONOMY GUY!!@ just kidding...great tips on using the star adventurer...got to forward this to a newbie just getting started with one.
How many telescopes you have & name them.
im just wondering if, instead of using an intervalometer i can just use the interval function (timelapse) on my camera. it's meant for time lapse but essentially lets you program it to take up to 999 photos at whatever settings you want. that should work just as well right?
good luck trevor and clear skies!
A lot of times that will only allow you to take up to the maximum built in shutter speed, which is usually 30sec. So if you want to take a bunch of longer than 30sec exposures, you have to use an external intervolometer as most cameras won't let you set both the internal bulb timer and interval functions at the same time.
@@hikingphotog oh thanks! but for a mirrorless (uncooled) camera, around what would be an exposure length limit which wouldn't have negative effects on the sensor? so it doesnt get too hot (om-d em-5 iii)
2 minute exposure with SWSA with a stock base and manual PA?
I could get 90s tops with success ratio of maybe 60, 70% (no star trails / star trails) so basically I have to throw out ~1/3 of my data when I'm trying to shoot 90s and when I tried 120s this is even worse....
And yeah I have my setup balanced... maybe my PA really suck :)
Do talk to the security guards and let them know what you are doing. Once in the Dominican Republic my AP was interrupted by a guard with a twelve gauge and a Doberman. He told me not letting him know before was extremely foolish and risky. I learned my lesson well and lived on to do AP another day.
Hi. Greetings from Germany. Did you bring something to take flats?
No! I should be okay with this setup under these skies, though :)
If it was officially an Astrophotography Trip wouldn't that make it tax deductible?
Would have thought the AZ5 would have been the mount it isn't much bigger but far more capable?
Niceee!!!!!! btw are u sure that mexico is safe?
there is some cartels.
Hang on to your equipment and money. I was totally ripped off in Mazatlan Mexico.
Sorry to hear that! I will be very cautious
Bienvenidos! But forget about Tequila, Mezcal is the way to go now. Enjoy!
must be nice
and wifey always has a blankie lol cute
Love your videos as always! And we'll still love you even if you go on a trip WITHOUT doing astro or vloging. Just saying ;D
Don't make Ashley mad. Nothing worse than fighting on vacation- :
Lucky guys!!! Please let us know of the place you are visiting…. since I wanna go to a place that is good for astrophotography 🤪
Hi guys 😊
Be careful dude, thief’s are stealing expensive cameras now a days.
Good Mojitos
Bad mosquitoes
Not in January. Definitely correct during the summer tho. :)
Hmmm
Who's taking care of Rudy?
If this is real? What, how do I send a telegram?
I think sometimes you're just a little in sensitive to what is going on in the world
Im soo muchh inspired by ur videoss😍😍
Can u suggest a good telescope i can buy under 500 dollars that can shoot gread pics of nebulaes and galaxies?? Plss🥲🥺
Thankyouuu ur work is beautifull😍
