- In this British Army Pay Rise Update 2024 I quickly explain what I think is going to happen and when the amount of raise will be announced.
I also discuss all of the raises since 2011.
If you have any questions or comments just leave them in the comments section and I always get back to them all.

Thank you very much Sam for the update.💂👍
No probs
Sam thanks for fresh information, stay strong 🙂
No probs mate
Hey Sam. Helpful video. And the stats on recent pay awards made me think. I had a look and they all basically seem to stay aligned with inflation. 2015 and 2021, inflation was close to 0% and 2023 it was around 11%. Possibly the pay awards are aligned with some sort of mean average inflation over the previous financial year or something.
Cheers mate. That’s really interesting
This guy is beef 🥩. We had 5% plus the £1000 which made different ranks get different pay rises. As a Sgt, it was around 7.2%. A private had around 9%. Whereas a brigadier would have a far less increase.
The year we had 2% plus .9%. The .9% was a bonus but didn’t consolidate into our pay. Not like the £1000 we had this year.
Politicians just increased their pay by 5.5%. I reckon 3.5% to 4.5% this year. Inflation is around 4.7% and it’s an election year….
They leave our pay last because we don’t have a union… so we can’t complain. They can give everything out and give us what’s left.
Public Service pensions will be increased from 8th April 2024 (the first Monday of the new tax year) by 6.7%, in line with the annual increase in the CPI up to September 2023
I think food is worth a mention in line with the last payrise. For years, the core meal has been subsidised, and soldiers pay around £3 for a 3 course meal. As of April this year, All contracts from the likes of Sodexo, ESS and Ellior will now charge full price for food, and i believe it will be cook to order rather than cooking en mass.
👍🏿..Can you talk about the impact that the new immigration rules would have on commonwealth soldiers with regards to their dependents
They do the same for Military Contractors
We have historically had our pay rise paid in September or October, also backdated to April...
It’s crazy
you can guess based on the over 25's minimum wage which is as of April £23,795. An infantry private currently earns £23,496 which means we would need a 2.3% minimum rise to avoid McDonald's being more attractive than an infanteer
That’s a good way of looking at it
Difference is mcdondalds is a job you can sit in for life and earn a crummy wage. In the infantry you're expected to move up the chain rapidly hence the crap pay at the lower levels. You also don't pay towards your pension which makes a significant difference.
@@SnakePliskin762in the infantry you do not move up the ranks rapidly
@@benmoore3539 you do if your switched on. Lancejack within 2 years, junior brecon within 4 and senior within 8-10 is more than achieveable.
@@SnakePliskin762No you're WRONG. Infantry has the slowest promotion over all other trades.
The career span is currently an average of 8.7y as retention is so poor, pensions have been cut 2x in a 10y period. Pay restraint and freezes for the last 13 of 14y. MC Donalds is a vile place to work. Army accommodation for an infantry soldier can be a vile place to live.
Its due to Accounting Periods which is part of Public sector spending policy. Its not great but ppl always think they have a better idea until they start learning all the safeguards in place for public spending.
Its not about doing a good job. Its about executing the policy to the letter.
A person can winge but public sector is a big beast that doesnt care about you, it just follows policy.
Anyone want to become a consultant and make a better policy, FinMil Cap will be happy to sign the business case if you can prove there is an overall saving to the taxpayer (again, business cases don't get sign off because it will make someone happier)
Do vitamin supplements make a big difference to your beep test score or is a balanced diet sufficient?
They can do but a balanced diet is fine
Will be signing off next year anyway, no more dealing with this loony wages.
Best of luck in civvy street
Just switched from civvie to army, the grass is defo not greener our here rn lad
@@Turbocrow69 you need to plant the seeds for the grass to grow green
What are you planning to do in Civvy street?
I'd make sure you're not going to regret it. I signed off after 12 years in Germany and have had nothing but bull shite and back stabbing in civvy Street
Watching from Ghana

Did we get £1000 consolidation pay on our pay slip? We are supposed to be get consolidation pay but I think we haven't got. Am I correct?
It’s added to your yearly salary
In Germany about 1990 our pay went up 2p a day.
😂😂
Should you warm up and stretch for loaded marches or are both uncessary?
Some gentle stretching of the lower back
Should i always aim for marginal gains each time i train MSFT or using your personalised program, can i be more ambitious?
Marginal gains will be fine
The raf reg now get paid £25,200 a year do u think that will be the same across all 3 services
I doubt it but I am not completely sure
It’s the MOD you’re dealing with. They don’t look after you. They don’t care.

It is a pity that soon, perhaps, there will be no English cities like Liverpool. I wanted to visit the homeland of John Lennon, who sang about peace.
Wow
how long will it take for you to get an invite letter after submitting your police clarification report as an infantry Commonwealth applicant???
It could be weeks or months
Can you carry your own knife in the British army and if so are there any restrictions IE locking and blade length, many thanks
Yeah you can but generally it’s on a combi tool
@MilitaryFitness That's not quite correct. Anyone can carry a knife if they have a reason to carry one. Being in the military doesn't automatically allow you to carry a knife wherever you are, but generally you'll have opportunity to use a knife such as on exercise or day to day work on camp. But all those people you see with a combi tool on their belt or in their pocket when they're just in the office are technically committing a criminal offence.
Outrageous The Forces pay rise was 5% last year while Army pensions went up 10.1% and this year is forecast for 6.7%. From 2010 to 2022 my pension accured 31% over the years until I'd qualified for my full pension at 55. So effectively I got 3 ish % per year. Its terrible you guys got a freeze of 1% during that period.
Please I would like to ask you a question since you are a soldier
Please can overweight people join the British army ?
Yes they can but I would advise trying to lose some weight to make things easier
@@MilitaryFitness thank you
@@stephenosei3760if your bmi is higher then 30 you will be deferred from the assesment centre and cannot join until you lose weight
Ive heard the Parachute Regiment get bonus pay, is this true?
They get jumps pay
@MilitaryFitness thank you. What does this mean and how much extra would it be?
About an extra fiver a day
dont ask 3 para how they spend their extra pay lol@@SnakePliskin762
@@SnakePliskin762 an apex tie costs a lot of money 😂
Can you leave the army & become a military contractor working for one of the American groups like Academi (formally known as Blackwater) earning a lot more for security work?
Yeah you can
@@MilitaryFitnessDo you have any info on taking this route in terms of legalities, what kind of work to accept or decline, pay you can expect etc? Are there any recruiters in this field who can help? Ive heard on the grapevine that you can earn a lot of money quickly but this is back during Iraq and Afghanistan days.
Civil Servants more like causing issues - it is about time the Armed Forces were given more retention bonus and better pay
That is true
@@MilitaryFitness All the best from EX RA of 24 years service
Am joining the uk army
All the best buddy 🫡
Can you help me
What’s up
I am from India, can I come through student visa and join the army
I don’t think so
What is the possible way mate@MilitaryFitness

Don't be a mug don't join up. Defending people that won't defend you even if they could, and making other scumbags rich.
Follow that all, but which scumbags are you making rich?
Why do you keep deleting my comment?
I don’t
Well Lebron James is the nba goat.
Pay is crap , job is crap , and years later you get crapped on.
That’s one way of looking at it
So you have no idea then lol
Rubbish pay rise and you guys are not paid enough
