@@Hoocho I'm getting yellowing of the leaves currently and had to fight off a huge caterpillar infestation. Luckily the caterpillars are all gone and I've got pot nitrate which I hope will sort the yellowing.
Great video. One thing I am always surprised about is that in all the hydroponics builds of the rain gutter grow system pioneered by Larry Hall, that nobody uses the grow bags that Larry recommended. Why didn't you use cloth bags instead of buckets and totes?
For hydroponic growing I've seen cloth bags accumulate excess algae on the outside because they are permeable and I wanted to avoid that. Dirt growing with water in the rails you'd be fine with cloth bags for sure!
@@teddyngwenya if there was a lot of rain you might get water running through the buckets and back into the rails. I can unscrew the far end of the rail to drain if needs be.
@@h10aus generally I'll check what's in my main reservoir though you can check the float box as well if you wanted. I have a generic truncheon style ec meter and just a cheap eBay pH meter
Saving this for when I move out of an apartment and into an actual house
Big Dog Approves! Keep at it!

Oh man I love that Citrus painting too...
Ooooooo Happy Hydroponicing... Dunno if that's allowed...
....Jk hahahhaha Happy hydroponicing my friend.
Those Cucumbers are going Cucurbits.

Love it - great work and the float box addition looks good. Do you think you could get away with making it smaller - say only a 5L bucket or similar?
Yes you could use whatever size containers you'd like really. I'd suggest something made from food safe plastic though.
Do you have a link to the float pet, etc? I’m not seeing it.
Hey, I don't have a specific link but I searched grey DN20 float on aliexpress
How does this system ensures that the water from the float box does not overfill the rain gutter channels?
The float box and rails match the same level. As long as the rails aren't lower than the float box level it can't overflow.
Hope when you do your update video you are able to show a sideview of your levels and hoses etc... cheers mate
What happens when it rains? Will the buckets overflow with water?

Is the water used nutrient enriched or plain tap water?
I use Yara Ferticare hydroponic nutrients
So do you check the ph and ec levels? If so which instruments do use?
