Every tree guy gets the same questions: I just need a ballpark figure, how much per tree? And: Can’t you do something other than chip all that wood?? The truth is, we all would love to have a reliable wood guy to follow us around and make it a zero cost, zero hassle for our clients, but even decades and decades into the establishment of the tree care industry, most every Tree guy gives up on saving wood for a third party that can’t be relied upon, and the day god starts building every tree the same exact way in the same type of places will be the only way we can give per tree pricing.

Kudos for this post, this situation is quite common and sadly ignored until it’s too late - trees in the wrong spots. Was so enamored with getting into my home that 3 misplaced fast growing trees became a huge problem, 2 pines engulfing my small area and a third large heavy oak leaning directly over my neighbor’s garage (a lawsuit just waiting to happen). Of course removing them busted our budgets for a few years but it had to be done. Thanks for the upload, your services are vital, especially for these type situations and after weather events, it’s good knowing a quality tree service. Also nice piece of land homeowners, lovely view, you seem to enjoy it very much!

I’ve rigged for about every kind of crane there is including helicopters. I’ve even felled a few trees but nothing like that Godzilla. The point is, I have nothing but respect and admiration for your beautiful craftsmanship. I know how difficult it is to balance a load, descend softly and not shock that load line. The saw work, the rope rigging, the crane operator, the seemingly perfect balance with your rigging points. Everything was spot on and top shelf. My hat is off to the whole bunch of you. I’m sure the customer and the neighbors just saw a bunch of roughnecks cutting wood but I know better. Artists. You guys are artists and I mean the in the true sense of the word.

Great editing on the video. A real shame that the tree self destructed. What do you do with the timber? You crane it off in lengths and in the past I seem to remember you removing it from site in lengths. Do you sell it raw or process it? Just curious really as I don't recall you discussing that side of your business.
As an aside, it would be interesting to see you guys do a comparison between rigging down a section of a comparable tree with craning off a section. I have no doubt that the crane would be quicker, but I wonder how much quicker.

Cracking job by your team, fair play. So many property planners nowadays, especially those who build a house and then plant trees nearby, still don't put any thought whatsoever as to how big many trees can grow over time. A home should never be put near trees that grow well above the height of a house, flats / apartments. And as some other people have pointed out, the sheer weight of just one of those branches, it's bloody bonkers!

Very entertaining in a multitude of ways. That was a lot of wood expertly processed from start to finish, well done. I hope the client appreciates just how difficult that was and just how it could have been disastrous in the wrong hands. What was the cost of this job? Must have been a monster bill for such a monster tree and where it was, requiring a lot of expensive equipment? Only very very slightly negative thing I thought was that some of the heavier wood should not have been put through the chipper but used either for burning or craft work but that's just me being a typical thrifty Scot. Well done for all the hard work and for letting us virtual loggers be a part of your exciting world. Great stuff!!!

@Mr Sunshines in the first video, the homeowner asked for the tree to be saved. . . . In the first video the homeowner said the woodchip and all the big logs were to be left on the property to be used for firewood. The homeowner did ask that the logs and chip were moved to a specific place. . . . . Then these guys reverse that and take the entire tree down, when only the side which had split needed to be cut back. Add in the first video the amount taken off on the first day, had been enough for the split side to spring back to such a point where it couldn't be seen. It only needed the branches that were still overhanging the house to be removed, and it would have been just fine. It would have healed itself at the split in a while. There really was no need to take down a magnificent tree such as that against the owners wishes. I really hate people naysaying what the client (ie the homeowner wants). It really is rude.
