OMG!! Loved it the first time I saw you do this technique and now I’m totally in love all over again!! With Spring bringing new leaves on in the garden and forest…def gonna go foraging and create something special as an homage to a truly generous and lovely soul…thank you Jonathon!! 👏🏻🫶🏻💃🏼😻
What a unique technique! For sure I thought you were going to leave the leaves on the table and let it dry. Then, drybrush the last coat of paint to highlight the leaf shapes! You proved that your time and experience has surpassed anything I have even thought of !! Love, love, love it!!
Only just watched this video (28.05) but was mesmerised by what you did. Not seen this technique done before! Absolutely amazing, love your work. Thankyou for sharing.
I love it. It may be my fav yet!!! ❤️❤️❤️ Tell Mr. M that I need his amazing gardening skills in MO, USA! 🌺 Love your back yard so much! Oh, hey Lily! 🐈
This piece is so beautiful!!! I didn't know you could use real leaves to create such beauty. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us! God bless.
*"Im so excited youre back!"* Oh, this is so much fun! (When I was a child), I use to make Clay-Mud discs (sorta like the pottery clay the Cherokee Native Peoples used,) and press a leaf in them, put a hanger in the back, and my Mom would hang them in the Kitchen. lol Fancy Mud Pies, but I came up with the Process with Native Pottery as my inspiration, age 5. We are born with our Creatives. (My Mother found countless arrowheads and Native artifacts on our farm.) You've so inspired me! I must do some of the leaves. Im really excited to do it soon!!! *Lovely, just a delicious piece.* 🍃🌿🍃 *(When did you sneak the shell in/handle? I must have been in the kitchen, looks STELLAR! Awesome piece!!!)* Hugs! Beth Tennessee, USA
That looks absolutely incredible!!! It’s just so pretty! I love all of the texture and the colors are beautiful! That technique would look amazing on so many different things! Thank you so much for sharing, and for another peak of your lovely garden too! You will have to share a tour of it at some point 😊
I’m wilded out because just Monday night I re-watched your original embedded leaf tutorial thinking “why have I never tried this!?!” And Tuesday morning went searching for leaves! I wasn’t sure about the ones I found so I thought I’ll wait until the weekend when I have time to research what types of leaves they are but sure enough yesterday morning I found out my dad had a geranium in his yard so I’m going to be hitting that up for sure!!!! It’s like the universe was telling me THIS IS YOUR NEXT PROJECT. I swear, I thought I misread it when I saw yesterdays tutorial come out! I was thinking surely this is an older one that I missed because what are the chances!?!?! Great minds Jon! ❤❤❤ Thank you for yet another killer tutorial! The finished piece is totally gorgeous! Hopefully I’ll have something similar to share in the not so distant future in a different colorway!
And he’s done it again 😍 I’m blown away with how stunning that looks. You had me holding my breath for a while there when you were peeling the leaves away. Just beautiful. Love from Australia ❤
It's been a while since I have been able to watch you live, but I catch up on each video. I love this beautiful and organic technique. I have a couple of pieces that I could try this out on. Always a joy to watch you work. Thank you. ❤
This is the 2nd time I’ve seen you do this technique and I am in awe each time! I ❤️❤️❤️ the texture of the leaves and paint and how it all comes together for the most unique look! I have to try this! Thank ups for your continued inspiration🥰
I love this!!! I have a previously painted piece that I used IOD molds w/ paper clay and a transfer on (don't love it, one of the 1st pieces I tried all the things, and it is just not pretty 😬) This Idea will be great since there is sure to be some extra character once I remove the molds. That being said, do you have a easier solution to a hammer and chisel to remove the molds? Thanks for everything you share and all the great ideas!! Valorie in Texas
Hello Jonathon. Can you do this decoupage technique over a textured surface such as chalk paint with Saltwash? Or would the texture underneath interfere with the leaf design? Thank you for any help you can offer.
A stunning result Jonathon. I consider myself a patient person when it comes to creative pursuits but I could see 'peeling those leaves off' defeating me. I'm going to give it a go though! 😄
Makes me wonder if heuchera leaf (coral bells) has a strong enough vein pattern for this. The color blend on the foliage of those shade lovers is outstanding and deserves a paint portrait, especially some of the newer varieties with their silvery cast.
Gorgeous garden! I’m such a dork-I felt sad for the plants when you tossed their leaves back. 😢 Gorgeous technique and perfect timing for my new project. It was great seeing you in the Sacramento Annie Sloan videos. I’m 20 minutes from Sacramento and I could tell big fun was happening there.🎉🎉🎉
Hello Jonathon I am glad I caught the live from the start!

You make it look so easy Jonathan. I don’t think I could that kind of texture with just paint.
Just do a small sample board, give it a go see how you get on 😊

I love this just don’t know if I’d be as patient taking off leaves.
Enjoyed your tutorial today Jonathon. I learn something new EVERY time 😁. And the garden is really beautiful Mr.M !
I didnt know you could get it to crack by heating it, ill have to try that too!

Yes, I think it would look great for a garden room great idea ❤️
Fascinating and so beautiful. Thank you!
Love the leaf design. Is it possible to have a more delicate background, or do you need to make it so heavy seeing all brush strokes? Thank you😊

This is stunning! I'm sorry if I missed this but what color is the canvas coat? Thanks
A stunning result Jonathon. I consider myself a patient person when it comes to creative pursuits but I could see 'peeling those leaves off' defeating me. I'm going to give it a go though! 😄
😆😆 honestly it looks labour-intensive but once you get going it’s not hard🙏❤️

After applying the clear wax do I have to wait before I start with the dark wax? And If so, vor how long should I wait?

Hi there. I’m in Lincoln so I would love to see your studio.
Sometimes plants like a haircut 😆😆
ASMR
Do you leave the leaves on
Perhaps I missed it ... But why paint the handle? That is such a nice hardware ... seems a shame to paint over as sacrifice for the effect.
