Fun fact: the reason Genies in the Sims 3 are immune to fire is because many (if not all) djinns in mythology are basically fire elementals aka they are made of fire. The word "genie" came from djinn. The more you know! XD Also freeing a genie from its lamp is very easy but not recommended because usually if you do they will want revenge for being imprisoned and made into a slave and they will turn on you. But all you have to do is destroy the object they are trapped inside of (doesn't always have to be a lamp) and/or destroy the seal keeping them trapped inside. Special holy seals are necessary in order to trap a genie within an object, be it lamp, bottle, etc. Imprisoning a genie is very dangerous, obviously, but also very rewarding if you can successfully trap them and force them to do your bidding. Yeah... Disney's Aladdin is a lot darker when you consider the fact that some sorcerer must've trapped poor Genie inside his lamp hundreds if not thousands of years ago and forced him to do their bidding. Phenomenal cosmic power, itty bitty living space indeed lol. Although to be fair, most genies in mythology are kind of jerks and temperamental anyway. I mean you can legit get possessed by a genie just by urinating on or sleeping under the wrong tree where one just so happens to be at the time lol.
There’s also this one fairytale where a fisherman freed a genie from the bottle and the genie wanted to thank him by KILLING HIM. Yeah, thanks alot genie

It continues with the fisherman being told where to find special fish of vibrant colors...but as they are cooked, they turn out to be people turned to fish. They came from the Ebony Islands, a cursed kingdom. It's a really cool story and I wish more people knew about it. I haven't been able to talk about it with anyone other than close family.

A chance of finding it while exploring the catacombs 3. Another chance of finding it while exploring the other dimension from the gyroscopic machine thingy 4. Or buy it as a lifetime reward for 30,000 points I'll probably make a detailed video about it in the future.
It's disappointing that some Life States don't have access to their full powers when they become playable. Mummy's can't curse people, Ghosts can't possess household objects, and Genies can't grant wishes. :-(
I do wish Mummies could curse people and Ghosts could possess objects, that would be fun lol. At the same time, having a playable Genie that can grant wishes would probably be a game breaker lol. As in, it's basically cheating at that point, so I can understand why Genies when freed wouldn't have full access to their powers.

Great video! I have two minor corrections, and a fun suggestion to add: Genies can also magically clean themselves (in addition to other sims). Ensorceled sims are not homeless, they think your home is their home (they will also use your car, so be careful of this). When they are no longer ensorceled, they will have their original home again (and be normal in every other way, again). The most useful trick I've discovered and used genies for is to steal other sims money, this way: You'll need a slot machine or casino table (you know, from the Sims Store). Take control (ensorcel) a sim and then have said sim gamble (they will also learn the gambling skill). Release the sim before the 4 hour ensorcel time limit is over. Any money they won is now your money, and the sim has no idea this has happened (they will not be angry). I did this trick with a genie family, and they became very rich after working the casino like this for a few weeks.
Thanks for the corrections! When I tested the ensorcel power before this video, for some reason the ensorcelled sim's house has the empty house icon so I decided to say that the sim will become homeless, also because a lot of people experienced this bug. But then when I tried it again after the video, the sim isn't become homeless. I guess the bug doesn't occur every time.
I noticed it said that in the video, but I've never had that happen. If it's someone they know, after the possession is over, they've always been able to go back to their homes. Maybe this is one of those random bugs? Unless they fixed it in one of the upgrades, I don't know.

I made a family of genies in this cool downloadable world called Alpine County, and the dad is a street magician but also plays Double Bass, the mum is a self employed sculptor, likes to cook and keeps the kids company because the dad works, and the daughter has super intelligence and the son is super athletic.

The lore would probably be something like "these genies were spellcasters but breached the boundarys and granted regular sims their desires. If they lose their families, both types can comfortably survive on their own. Genie kids can feed themselves and plants don't eat. Of course this is only if you have a mod that disables the welfare, otherwise a social worker will still take 'em.
In that case you might be interested in a mod called Children Can. It opens up the restricted abilities for the kiddies that EA were too lazy to animate, e.g. gardening, music, laundry, alchemy (to name a few) without them stretching. It's a masterpiece and something EA would have probably charged you around £30 for. You can get it for free from Mod The Sims. Also for your genie kids, check out the Alladin & Jasmine outfits, also from MTS. I haven't been able to find anything for teens however so if anyone knows of any available anywhere, even resized adult ones, here's your time to shine.

You all know in Sunset Valley there is this widow lady Crumplebottom? I brought my genie over to resurrect her dead ghost husband. And guess what? They dont even know each other at all! He just ran off and become a proprietor townie! Talk about being ungrateful :( My sim with the genie bottle lived with widow and her household was the active one I play. I looked at her relationship, he is a stranger to her.
I used to ensorcel sims all the time and I didn't know that they became homeless after that. First I took all cars and laptops they had in their inventory and then they ended up without a house. I feel sooo bad for them now xd
I wanna play The Sims 3 badly in 2021 because The Sims 4 kinda garbage to me, but the lags while I'm on all low quality settings seems made me doubt to play it, like I play The Sims 4 with higher quality and everything is normal🤦🏻♂️
This is about 9 months late but Sims 3 lag seems to be a universal experience. Even higher end pcs still seem to catch lag from the game. Give it a go, sometimes for the first 10-15 minutes after playing my lag starts to buff out and it begins to run relatively normal.
Especially if your pc can run Sims 4 on regular settings it definitely is just something with Sims 3 and it's code. Hopefully you see this so you can experience the fun times of Sims 3.
